What is the Strong 1-4 Cup feature used for?

Mine has a 2-4 cup feature as well as a powerful feature. The 2-4 cup button is never used by me. Every time, I make 6 cups. The powerful quality I use each morning. I press it then press the on button.

Does the glass carafe's cover come off for cleaning?

There is no way to remove the plastic carafe lid for cleaning. However, it has a very wide opening, and washing the carafe with a brush or by hand is simple.

What size or type of filters will this accept?

Cone-type filters are number four. The box contains them flat. Open them up and place them inside.

What is the wattage?

The power requirements for this coffee maker are 1,500 watts, 120 volts, 60 hertz, and 12.5 amps.

Has it have auto shutdown feature? If so, why isn't it displayed among the features?

They often remain on for two hours before turning off. You can set the one I have to turn off after 1 to 4 hours. Most of them automatically switch off after two hours.

Thought about spending $10 less on newer model CM2030B until I read reviews about poor/spilling carafe design on newer model...glad I spent $10 more and waited to have it shipped to store for free pickup.

I'm not understanding the negative reviews. I have owned this coffeemaker since 2012 and have had zero problems with it. I replaced it a few weeks ago only because I felt like after 4 years of use I should probably consider buying a new coffeemaker ... and I bought the exact same model. This coffeemaker makes a great cup of coffee quietly. If you keep the basket's drip mechanism clean it's truly non-drip. I also like the look of it, just enough stainless to be attractive but not so much that it glares. I feel like buying another one as backup that I can pull out in 4 years, just in case B&D doesn't make it any more. :) I totally recommend this coffemaker. Just want to add that B&D shipped the coffeemaker very quickly.

This is the second and same model Black & Decker machine that I buy. The first one lasted us almost three years. We brew coffee on a daily basis, sometimes twice each day, so I can recommend this machine.

on/off button needs a good push to turn on, but I appreciate the top which clamps shut tightly. A tight lid cuts down on the amount of evaporated water; thus, giving you the correct amount of coffee.

The ONLY negative comment I have on this item, is that it would be perfect, in my opinion, if it had a back-lite on the display. It is hard to see as it is, especially the info. in the corners of the display. Other than that one item, I am totally satisfied and happy with the product. It makes a great cup of coffee and fast too.

Our prior B&D 12 cupper broke down after about 6 or 7 years, and at a cost of about $5.00/year, I figured it was a pretty good return on investment. Easy to use for any number of cups and setting the timer is a cinch.

We have been very pleased with the coffee pot. Due to lack of counter space it was not convenient to be moving the pot back and forth as it drug on the counter. We put rollers on the bottom and it works very nicely. You might want to consider a pot with those attached. Of course it would increase the cost, but one would think only pennies. Thank you.

When our Krups pot died, we looked at all the pots on the market. Most were high dollar $100 to $200+. After looking at the high dollar ones, we choose this one because of price, ease of use, and appearance. It uses the Mr. Coffee type basket paper filters, openings on either side makes it easy to pour in the water. Some of the high dollar ones made it tough for a "lefty" to pour the water in. The only down side is the display does not have a back-light and it is hard to see. The pot is easy to use, makes excellent coffee, looks nice and has an automatic cleaning setting when it builds up scale. None of the high dollar ones had that. If you like good coffee, a pot that looks nice, at a good price-buy this one.
