I love to slow cook meals and use my electric slow cooker a lot but there are times when I want slow cooker flavor and tenderness but I don't have 6-8 hours to cook a meal. This is where I felt the Instant Pot would shine but after a couple weeks of use I realize that there is so much more to it. First the picture of the chicken thighs isn't the most visually appealing food picture but I wanted to show it. A hour beforehand this chicken was frozen solid. I put it in the Instant Pot with a packet of onion soup and in an hour it went from a frozen block of chicken thighs to fully cooked. No need to defrost, no need to thaw for a day or two in the refrigerator. For that reason alone I LOVE this product. The Instant Pot community is large as you can find several websites with recipes and cooking tips. Youtube is littered with videos showing recipes and ideas. Complete meals can be cooked in the Instant Pot making it a huge time and dishes saver. Also no more worrying about everything finishing at the same time for dinner. Meat cooks up very tender and juicy. The chicken in the picture literally was falling off the bone and was very moist. I love making meat for pulled pork and shredded chicken in the Instant Pot. It comes out perfect every time. The Instant Pot is also a very capable slow cooker so you can still prepare your favorite slow cooker recipes in it. It is amazing to me how versatile one device can be. If you enjoy slow cooker cooking give the Instant Pot a try and expand your abilities even further than you could have imagined!

Let me start by saying, I love the Instant Pot! I've seen my mum use her stove-top pressure cooker and it's all very scary. HOT Pot + COLD Water Pressure Release + Guesswork in between = Nightmares! Need I say more?? THE CHALLENGE Dinner for mum and for my first time, a very simple recipe I found online: Country-Style BBQ Ribs. PRESSURE COOKING - THE NEW INSTANT POT WAY Heated 2 cups of Apple Juice in my Instant Pot. The fill-lines are conveniently marked on the inside. I just used the SAUTE button to begin the quick-heating process. When it started to warm up, I put in the ribs, put on the lid and turned the STEAM RELEASE HANDLE to SEALING. I then changed the cooking mode. Pressed the CANCEL button, then the MEAT/STEW button to pressure cook the ribs. The rest is automatic. The Instant Pot "brought" itself up to the right pressure. You'll know when the pressure valve pops up, and the timer starts. For meat, the display will show 35 (MINUTES). It couldn't be easier. When the cooking is done, the timer will sound and it switches to a KEEP WARM mode. Dinner can wait until you are ready for the next step.. no need to hang around the kitchen. My recipe said to wait 5 MINUTES for a brief cool down. The KEEP WARM timer will track this for you. Then with OVEN GLOVES on, I turned the STEAM RELEASE HANDLE to VENT. Just think, no hot and heavy pot in the kitchen sink for a cold water bath! The steam release is pretty much controlled and when it's done, the valve will drop down. I turned off the KEEP WARM with the CANCEL button and opened the lid. First thought - not the best looking ribs.. yet! Final steps - I placed them in a foil-covered roasting pan (no messy clean-up), really smothered with my favorite Sweet and Spicy BBQ sauce and put the pan into a 400 degree oven. Took them out when the sauce was hot and bubbly. Looked great! BUT I'm thinking, next time, I might just use a turkey baster to remove some of the apple juice, pour in my BBQ sauce and heat in SAUTE mode. This might work.. and only one container to wash. I know Instant Pot has a glass lid I can get. RESULT Mum enjoyed dinner and I've gotten over my fear of pressure cookers!

It is an overall well designed and constructed electric pressure pot. The pot come with everything you need for the 7 functions to work. COOL: the first thing I tried is to cook beef stew following recipe from the instant pot website. During whole cooking process, the outside of the pot just touch warm, except to is a little bit hotter, but still safe to touch for adults. For families like me with children, this is much safer than traditional stove top pressure pot. EASY TO CLEAN: The next recipe I tried is smoked ham porridge using slow cook function. I use the same recipe for years for family breakfast with slow cooker. My old slow cooker has a ceramic inner pot, it works well but the cleaning job is kind challenging. On the other hand, instant pot has a stainless steel inner pot, the porridge is perfect, just as my old slow cooker did. And the cleaning process is much more easier. The surface is so smooth, no residues left just after rinsed with warm water. CONVENIENT: each time when you turning the cover to lock or unlock position, instant pot will alarm you the right position is reached, no more guess work. OTHER THOUGHTS: The power cord is not detachable, a little inconvenient for long time storage or clean the outside of the pot. No matter which function you are using, the cook time and pressure is very easy to adjust even during cooking. Another useful function is “24-hour delayed cooking” for busy working parents.

The Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker is a great addition to our kitchen. If you're cooking a Beef Stew you can sear the Beef cubes right in the Cooker and then add the Vegetables and Broth and close the Pressure cooker and after the cooking time is up enjoy a perfect Beef Stew with tender Beef. It also works great for cooking creamy Mushroom soup from scratch. There's a sauté feature as well and it cuts down on the amount of pots and pans needed on the stovetop to sauté the Mushrooms and Onions. But my most favourite feature is for cooking Rice. The Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker is perfect for making sticky Rice just like it's served in Chinese Restaurants. I love Jasmine Rice and it came out so perfect I was tempted to use my Chopsticks but couldn't find them at the time. And it's so much easier than cooking the Rice on the stovetop. Just put the Rice and the Water in the Cooker, close the Lid and after warming up the timer starts for the Rice and it is much faster than stovetop, less than 15 mins for my 2 cups of rice. Granted, the Instructions that came with the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker were a bit confusing in the beginning until I read them a few times to make sure I'm putting the Lid on correctly and remembered how to use the pressure valve. But once you're familiar with all the Settings and Buttons and how to safely remove the Lid after the cooking cycle is done, it's so easy to operate the Cooker and I can't believe I didn't get myself one of these Cookers sooner. The only little downside, you'll have to wash the sealing ring really well and let it dry nicely before using again, otherwise it will smell like whichever food you've cooked last. This week I'll be trying out the Yogurt feature. But to me this Pressure cooker is a must in my kitchen now, alone for the fact that it cooks perfect Beef Stew, lovely creamy Mushroom soup and most of all, perfect Jasmine Rice. So overall this Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker is a wonderful addition to our kitchen and I would definitely recommend it.

I have never used a pressure cooker before and have mostly been afraid to try due to hearing stories about how dangerous they are. This cooker, being electric, seems like a safe introduction to this cooking method. I'm not very fond of stainless steel anything in the kitchen, so although it doesn't affect the function of the cooker, it gets a big thumbs down from me for exterior design. Right out of the box, I realized there is going to be a bit of a learning curve to use this device. As I began reading the user's manual, there are a lot of instructions to keep in mind for safety as well as use for each of the cooking methods. Fortunately, the instructions are only a few short pages in English and the rest of the booklet is dedicated to other languages. I was happy to see a cookbook included, but I am a little disappointed that there aren't a lot of recipes. Also, the instructions are not very clear on the weight of some foods. For example, it says in the cooking chart that a whole chicken takes 20-25 minutes (total, not per pound), but it doesn't state the weight of the chicken to begin with. Fortunately, you can go online and search for “electric pressure cooker recipes”. The first thing I experimented with was a pound of brown rice. The booklet gives ratios of water to rice (and beans, etc) and it was spot on for the whole pound. I have never been able to make great rice because I am impatient and always open the lid. This pressure cooker, from start to finish, took under 30 minutes and the rice is perfect. It was actually much more simple that I thought! I also chopped up some boneless, skinless chicken breasts to test the saute function and was very pleased that it was so quick and easy. Also, the stainless steel pot is easy to clean. I am looking forward to cooking many things in this pressure cooker. It's fast, easy and so convenient.

I've had pressure cookers before but they were the old timey ones and I honestly was a little afraid of them. This pot is so wonderful and durable and does so many things. It is also a very generous size. That being said, that would be my only criticism is storing it between uses. I am fortunate enough to have a large pantry and made some room on one of the shelves. But I am also finding more and more uses for it so it sets out on my counter a lot of the time. It is a very attractive design, locking lid with holders for it built right onto the pot, a basket which makes it easy to remove food. The instant pot also comes with handy utensils, a condensation catcher and the digital display is very nice and large and I can read it from across the room even without my glasses! The interior pot is stainless and there is nothing about it that can leech into your food which is a concern to many nowadays. As I mentioned before, I was a little afraid of my former pressure cooker but instant pot has many safety features on it that will help ease your mind in using it. It's fairly fool proof which I like. Instant pot does a number of different functions. It's a steamer, a slow cooker, a pressure cooker of course and it also sautes, or browns, and makes yogurt. And because it's a pressure cooker, it takes less time than its counterparts. I love to slow cook and with the saute feature, I can brown my food before I slow cook it if I choose to, all in the same pot. A very nice feature! It's pretty much a set it and forget it.... Load up your ingredients, choose the settings on the front of the machine and of the steam release button, wait for the signal beep that the machine is certain of what you want and that's it! After the cooking is done, the instant pot keeps your food at a good warm temperature until you are ready for it, another nice feature. The instant pot comes with a quick reference guide and also detailed instructions. I read and reread both to make sure I was comfortable with operating it. There are two levels of pressure cooking, low and high, the unit also can pasteurize milk And make yogurt. I have not used all the functions yet, just the sauteing and slow cooking but I look forward to experimenting with all of them and adapting my other recipes to this. Just the time it saves makes it a wonderful addition to our kitchen. I highly recommend!!

The first thing that I cooked in the pot was spaghetti squash because that's what I had planned to cook for dinner. I found that the times given in the recipe book were too short and will have to test by trial & error. The recipe said 3 minutes with steam & I had to increase the time to 7 minutes. For those people worried about using a pressure cooker, let me say this isn't like the old time, stovetop pressure cookers. There are 10 built in safeguards that prevent the explosions I've heard of all my life. The built up pressure for this pot is 11 psi and the other ones with the steam build up problems are at least 15 psi. The pot comes with a plastic rice paddle, plastic ladle, wire rack with handles, measuring cup, user manual, recipe book and quick reference guide. There is an initial test run for the steam function to get you used to the pot and also to rinse out the areas of the lid using steam. I preformed this test before using and it worked as stated. This pot has 14 functions, including a slow cook cycle, yogurt maker and rice cooker. I'm very happy about the saute feature. This is what you use to brown meats and being the pot is stainless steel, it browns very well. That's handy when using it as a slow cooker. I've always had to brown meats in another pot when using a crock pot or slow cooker. This does it all in one pot. Fantastic. I'm really excited to try all the dessert recipes available. Cheesecake, puddings and individual cakes. Facebook has a community just for this cooker and there are endless recipes and support. I'm planning on enjoying and learning about this pot for a long time. It's nice to be enthusiastic about cooking again.

The Instant Pot IP-DUO60 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker is AMAZING!!!! I have always just had a basic slow cooker and when I received this at first I was overwhelmed not knowing how it worked or what to do with each function but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. We made our first meal in the instant pot the other day which was ribs and what would normally take 4-6 hours in a slow cooker took only 35 minutes using the meats/stew button on the instant pot and the ribs fell off the bone! I couldn't believe I could have dinner done that quickly! This is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker/porridge maker, steamer, saute/browning, yogurt maker and warmer. You can get rid of all those things you have because now you have it all in one pot! It has a keep warm setting and also a 24 delay start option too. You can slow cook for 0.5 to 20 hours which is the best part for me because many times I lose track of time and forget to set my slow cooker and realize I now have 2 hours to cook dinner when the lowest option on a slow cooker is 4 hrs. No need to worry about that anymore. Just be super careful with the pressure cooker as the steam releases fast and high. Greatest cooking appliance I have ever had so far.

Today I'm going to review the Instant Pot IP-DU060 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7 in 1 Multi Functional Pressure Cooker. The Instant Pot comes with the Main base and control panel, A lid, Cooking pot made from food grade 304 stainless steel highly polished, And accessories inside of the cooking pot, A steaming rack. A small plastic stirring spoon and ladle , A quick start guide, A user instruction manual, And a recipe book. After reading the user manual. I see the Instant Pot is a 7 in 1 multi cooker good for Pressure cooking, Slow cooking, Steamer, Rice cooker Porridge maker,Yogurt maker and warmer, Saute/Browning,. On the front of the Instant Pot is a nice large easy to see control panel. That illuminates the color red when the appliance has been plugged into an electric outlet. The control panel has programmable micro processor settings for time delayed starts and cooking times for slow cooking. Along with auto start features. There's a quick start guide. I recommend reading the user manual first. To read about how to use and program the control panel. The Instant pot has 10 safety feature and sensors combined. Reading the user manual on the safety features Will make your cooking experience safe in the kitchen. There's a first time water test to get a feel for using the Instant Pot. I did the water test and first time use I could smell a new electrical appliance scent coming from the Instant Pot That went away after the first use. It's also very quiet while its cooking. I've never used or owned a pressure cooker, Or steamer before So this is a new experience in cooking for me. I'm just starting out with the Instant Pot. I've been cooking soups, sauces and experimenting with the steamer rack. I'm looking forward to making my first pot of chili with the Instant pot, I've been reading the recipe book that comes with it. There's a of meals I want to try that sound good. The Instant Pot Seems to be durable and high quality. I look forward to using the Instant Pot a lot more in the future. It gets easier to use the more I use it. There's a lot more information on the Instant Pot site at instantpot.com for more accessories, Replacement seals, Help video's, Support, and Recipes

I want to keep this review simple because the Instant Pot is extremely simple to use. If you can push a button, you can use the Instant Pot and your family will think you've hired a chef. The jest of the Instant Pot, you can cook foods much faster, in less time than ever before. My first use with the Instant Pot (see my video) was pressure cooking small dry white beans. Normally, I would soak dry beans all night and then let them cook all day in a slow cooker OR boil them in a pot on the stove and hope they don't scorch. There's nothing worse than being hungry and supper still isn't done! Eeeekkk! So how do you use it? Basically, you put your food in the stainless steel pot, close the lid, close the vent (if pressure cooking) and push the button that is already time preset. For example, pushing 'chili/beans' is preset for 30 minutes. If you want a longer or shorter cook time, you can easily set the up/down button. When finished cooking, it will set to OFF and you can then unplug it if you wish or keep it on warm. Turn the vent to release the pressure. After the steam has released, open the lid and serve the meal. So Easy! So Fast! The Instant Pot IP-DU060 Stainless Steel 6-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker does so very much and frees up your time. While the beans were pressure cooking, I made my cornbread and when my cornbread was finished baking, the beans were done too! The Instant Pot includes several items such as the user manual, recipe booklet, program chart, two spoons, measuring cup, stainless steel steam rack, and more. You can also use the Instant Pot as a slow cooker and it being 6 quart, it's a perfect size even for large families. Plenty of built in SAFETY FEATURES! I also love the fact it has a stainless steel pot because all I use is stainless steel and cast iron when cooking. The stainless steel pot is easy to clean. Shipment was fast and packaging was great, came in a nice manufacturers box within a thick cardboard box. I'm going to save tons of time and have loads of fun with the Instant Pot. Worth every cent!
