We have had 3 of the basic Mr.Coffee makers in the last 15 years. This by far the worst design you have ever made. It's impossible for a left handed person to fill. When you lift the lid all the condensation runs under the grounds basket and leaks onto the hot plate. Also the basket filters very slowly. Takes 8-10 minutes to make 8 cups. Your design engineers should use there product before they put it out for the market. Your basic model was always a reliable machine. The first one we had last 13 year and the only thing wrong with it was we chipped the pot washing it. The last two we have had less than 2 years combined have been a big disappointment. The one before this one the warming plate split after 1 yrs use. Please bring back the old standard model.

I just bought the 12 cup simple brew maker and have to say this new model is terrible. Reason's 1- The pot/ pops every 30-45 seconds soundslike a gun going off, the metal band on the pot must be getting hot and popping, wakes up my daughter. 2- The new design lid on the pot now drops water on the floor when you go to pour the coffee. The condensation must be building up on the lid and goes everywhere. 3-The new lid to the water reservoir also holds a lot of condensation and water builds up there also and have to get a paper towel to wipe it off when you open the lid. The old design was so much better than his new one.

Why in the world would you change the design so the water reservoir opens to the left??? No left-hander can fill this; even turning the entire machine to the side results in the reservoir filling being obstructed by the grounds basket. The old, open front to back, easily fill from either left or right was perfect. This is terrible. What about the people who don't have use of their right arm at all??? Complete fail here. Complete, blind, thoughtless re-make.

We need a simple coffeemaker with a toggle switch. We like to set up the coffee the night before and then tell Google assistant to start the coffee before we even get out of bed. We soon found out our fancy schmantzy coffeemaker didn't work for this purpose because it turns out that when power is applied to an electronic switch, it doesn't turn on. This simple coffeemaker is perfect. We can even have it start at a specific time if we want by programming Google to start it automatically. We've been using it daily for a year or two.

Could be can change the design, especially base part ? The power switch on the left or right may be looks like special, and base part of design concept can refer to the car's design concept, add a little modern feeling ? I like the Maker! James

I have purchased these simple Mr Coffee many times over the years. I don't expect them to last forever but in the last two, including this model, DW-12, the heating surface began disintegrating almost immediately, constantly generating a gritty substance. The grit rubs against the bottom of the carafe generating a most unpleasant sound and feeling (akin to the scraping of fingernails on a chalk board). I find that I have to gird myself against the sound and feel of the carafe against the hot plate every time I fill a cup. At some point (<3 years), the disintegration produces a hole in the hot plate which is why I am looking at coffee makers again although I would like to know whether Mr Coffee has corrected this defect.

This is a good, basic coffee maker for a reasonable price. I've had better quality coffee makers but they cost at least double the price. And it's getting hard to find a better quality coffee maker with a simple on/off switch. I don't need the "bells-n-whistles" and prefer not to have one more appliance drawing phantom power 24 hours a day. This coffee maker will brew a pot of coffee in less than ten minutes. From my experience with several of these, you can expect it to last 5 to 7 years before needing replacement.

I have bought Mr. Coffee machines for many years because they are simple, inexpensive, and reliable. And yes in my experience they pour well, too. Only one month in, and this coffee maker seems fine. One complaint: the cord was really hard to dig out of the base.
