This Breville - the Fresh and Furious blender is a very powerful and classy looking appliance. The pitcher is a heavy plastic and would be better if it were glass but it is a sealed unit and you don't have to separate all of the parts to clean it. A great feature is how the blades are as wide as the base of the pitcher so that it doesn't miss anything at the bottom. The buttons are large and easy to read. It makes malts very smooth. The ice crushing feature is nice and works perfectly. My favorite feature is the clean function where you can add a little dish soap and water and it will clean itself. Very handy to avoid taking up space in the dishwasher or sink. The underneath has a handy cord wrap so you may store it on your counter and it will still look nice. I have a blender that I've had since I received it as a wedding gift, many moons ago. It was a basic blender but had difficulty blending anything more than a simple blend of sauces. This Breville blender, Fresh and Furious, was by far superior to my humble blender. I have frozen berries that I've been wanting to make a smoothie with, but up until now the previous blender protested it's use. The Breville blender was awesome! Blended it well and created such a smooth and creamy concoction even my husband was impressed. Now I admit, the blender is portrayed as being used for the good for you foods, but I found it did just as well with making a chocolate malt, and with adult beverages (think Pina Colada). Overall, I'm really, really glad to own this blender. Love how easy it is to use, how it blends my food within the jar. Really enjoyed the roundness of the bottom of the jar where no pieces of goodness can hide in those pesky corners. Definitely am loving this blender! This is a great blender for juicing and smoothies. I love that it has multiple functions available and has a nice sleek design as well. Very smooth blend and makes a nice green smoothie as well! The Breville Fresh & Furious blender is strong & powerful & blended everything perfectly. We've used it for smoothies with frozen fruit, yogurt, protein powder & ice & it came out great. Crushed the ice like a champ, great texture. We also used it for drinks with ice & again, the drinks were excellent. Super easy to use. It has some food processing abilities - haven't tried it yet but excited this machine can do that. The buttons are clear & easy to use, has great features. This has a plastic pitcher & I wish it was glass, however it is dishwasher safe. I definitely think Breville should have made this pitcher with glass considering this is a much higher end blender. Also it only comes with a 1 year limited warranty & I really think the warranty should be much better/longer for a nice higher end blender. We love this blender. The new breakfast in our house is smoothies for the entire family. It is so strong and crushes ice and frozen fruit so smoothly. Built in settings are amazing as you just select what you need and the blender runs and shuts off automatically (and doesn't leave you any lumps....). Super easy to clean as well. This blender seams pretty solid, though there are a few quips. The vessel is plastic: no immediate issue with durability, but I feel much more confident blending hot liquids (soup) in a glass vessel. The blade is not removable: The blender has a good self-clean function (put a little soap and water in and let it do its thing), but if/when something gets really stuck or needs a scrubbing I can see this being a major pain. Finally, you must push at least two buttons to get the thing going - first world problem. Regarding performance: it does the work well. Blends, chops, liquifies great. This is a very solid feeling and well-built blender. The pitcher has a wide opening and is designed so that food doesn't get stuck at the bottom near the blades. The drive mechanism on the bottom of the pitcher is made with a substantial metal gear that looks like it will handle the heavy torque that the unit puts out. I also like how tightly the lid seals, the ring pull to get the lid off and that the cord neatly wraps up under the base. There are a lot of small design details that really enhance the overall feel of the blender. Performance is very good – it had no problem handling ice, frozen fruit and stalky greens. The programmed one-touch buttons for Green Smoothie, Auto Pulse Ice Crush & Smoothies work quickly and conveniently, as do the individual 1-5 speed settings. Cleanup can be done in the pitcher with warm water and a couple drops of dish soap. The one thing that I think could be improved upon is the noise that is produced on some of the settings. Speeds 2-4 operate as expected, but Speed 1 (Mix) has a rough idle sound and Speed 5 (Liquify) is extremely loud. Overall though, this is a very high-quality blender with great performance. I've owned a lot of blenders over the years, both expensive and cheap. Most of them are incredibly overpriced for what you get or very under-powered and cheaply made. Outside of the fact that this blender can in fact be quite loud on the highest setting, I have never been more initially impressed than I am with this one. Impressions: 1. The build quality and attention to detail of this blender is very good. The blender bowl is BPA free; the blades are substantial and well made but not too sharp; the blender lid has a well designed pull tab to get the lid off; the cord can be wrapper around the inside of the bottom of the base; the cord has a really need finger pull tab to pull out of the socket; the fit and finish of the blender is well done and materials used are of good quality; and, this is a very powerful blender. It simply gets the job done. 2. I've used this to crush ice, make smoothies, ice cream, protein shakes, and lightly chop veggies thus far and it's handled all of that with ease. 3. There are enough programs to handle any task and the display is well done. 4. The bowl does not lock into the base but the bottom of the bowl is tall enough that it doesn't matter. 5. As I mentioned before, on the highest settings, this can definitely be loud. However, at those settings, you have to consider the amount of power going through the unit and have reasonable expectations. However, if you prefer a blender that's quiet even on high, this may not be for you. Overall, I just can't find anything negative to say about this blender outside of it being a little loud at times. It's built like a tank, has power for days, and has handled every task that's important to me so far. It's easily the best blender I've ever had outside of a certain blender of professional quality that I won't mention by name, but most probably will know. Finally, I found a real blender!! I have purchased other blenders over the past few years but none compare to the Breville Fresh and Furious I had another name brand blender which lasted me about 2 yrs It never really lived up to its promises but it had been a great price so I snatched it up BIG mistake it took forever to crush ice and I had to assist it constantly by shifting the ingredients around inside. This Breville fresh and Furious has out performed it 10-1 right out of the box and it crushed frozen fruit and ice in about 10 seconds . I wish I had gotten this Fresh and Furious first lol. Here is a breakdown of Pros and cons PROS: The Breville is made for perfection with its sleek design and functionality it fits in with any kitchen decor. The blender pitcher is made of plastic and its super heavy duty BPA free and DISHWASHER safe and the lid is safe for the top rack of the dishwasher . Clean up is a breeze It has an auto-clean mode, they recommend running two cups of warm water through the blender for 60 second to clean it . For tougher cleanings, they recommend adding a couple drops of dish detergent for deep cleaning. This blender is meant to last everything about it screams quality. CONS: I didn't find it years ago I haven't been this impressed with an appliance in a long time I feel this blender will serve me and my family for many years to come. Breville the Fresh and Furious is a powerful blender that is easy to use. I like that it features green and regular smoothie functions which makes it so simple to create delicious, healthy meals and treats with a simple press of the button.The parts are easy to clean as I just put them in my dishwasher. I feel good about using the BPA Free Tritan Jug so I can make my favorite concoctions anytime.
