I have always bought Cuisinart, but not anymore this machine is a real pain to get ready to work I can't get it to engage into the slot at the back of it, really like the old model when first came out. I will just get rid of machine very soon.

This is my 3rd Cuisinart and that's where I'm ranking it. It's VERY heavy but that's good. They've increased the safety features which I though were already over-the-top. It makes it more difficult/time consuming to operate. I much prefer this same model I bought 20 years ago but that one quit on me. These really don't last as long as they should for the price. My iconic mixer, on the other hand, is 30 years old and going strong. Something I've never experienced before happens with this one: when I'm doing something like making bread crumbs from stale bread I've baked, the blade start lifting up and comes off with a thud inside the canister. This has happened a lot and is quite an irritating issue.

Ease of operation. I've had my old Cuisinart for over 30 years and I kept nursing it along because I hated some of the safety features of 10 year ago that made the machine downright difficult to operate. Finally couldn't nurse my old one along anymore so had to buy another. This is much easier than the one I bought my Mom 10 years ago that she never used because it was too complicated. Glad this is better.

I have two complaints: (1) is getting the lid on correctly. Its a bit of a squeeze to get it on "just so" or it won't work. (2) attaching the post to the slicer blades. I struggled with that for a good ten minutes, went through the book couple times (no help), before I had the "aha" moment to slide the little button down. Otherwise, its pretty dang awesome

What started off as a happy purchase turned into an unhappy purchase. The food processor is great. The price changed from 174.99 + tax to 139 within a day. What a huge price difference in ONE DAY of ordering it. Amazon would not credit the difference back to my account. I can see a 5 or even 10 dollar difference but NOT this amount. To send it back I would lose the courtesy part of the payment so there was no point in stopping the shipment and reordering it. About the Food Processor I have had a Cuisinart food processor since 1974. At that time I worked and cooked in a gourmet food store. I bought my first one there. It gets almost daily use. I have had five of the larger size (9, 11, 14 cup )and I have several small. They all perform well. This one: I thought the front was stainless or chrome and instead it is brushed chrome which means it looks like gray spray paint. I have smaller ones with this base color and it is not my favorite. The plunger is black instead of white, which is a change I had not noticed. I cook and bake a lot. I give it 5 stars for being a miracle with food prep, I take one star away for the the plastic eventually cracking or it falling apart. I take them ALL away if the rating is about purchase experience.

Loved the compact cover. My old Cuisinart only had the big cover, and it wasn’t as convenient to use, clean, and store. And my old one was 14 cups, which is too big for normal use; this one at 11 cups is much more practical

My husband giggled like a child when I gave this to him. The large easy to use buttons are nice. It’s also not nearly as loud as the last one we had. The sheer fact he’s used it so many times makes it worth the hefty price.

Made my very first bread dough in it. It mixed AND kneaded it!!! Only took about 10 to 12 pulses. But hold onto the machine, the dough will make it rock around. Looking forward to making other things with it.

I arrived to this product from a Hamilton Beach 14 cup food processor that simply decided to stop working after 3 years of light use. What a difference. I have a hard time calling both of these products 'food processors'. This Cuisinart offering is a treat to use and is head and shoulders above what I was using before. It is smooth and balanced in a way that I have not experienced before. The flat lid is fantastic. I don't need the feeder tube for 99% of what I use this for and the flat lid is super easy to clean. If I have one complaint is that the seal between the lid and the main body of the processor could be better. When making cookie butter yesterday, crumbs found their way up and around the lip of the container. While slightly annoying, this is not even worth taking away a star. FANTASTIC product, unless it dies on me it is a 6 out of 5 stars in my book.

After using this device for six months I've finally had enough. I wish I never purchased it to begin with. The cover doesn't fit right. Try shredding large veggies, it doesn't work. What a waste of money. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this machine.

I owned the previous version of this food processor for over 10 years. It made hundreds of gallons of gazpacho and hummus among other things; by far it was my most used appliance. Only when a tiny little plastic piece finally broke off the lid and I had to order another lid did I see the beginnings of possibly the cheapening of Cuisinart's materials? I found that I had to hold the lid in place in order for it to connect and have the motor run. I gave that machine to a friend and ordered this one. I'm still having the same issue with the lid, but not consistently. I sometimes have to hold it and tip it back slightly for the connection to happen. It all comes down to this fragile white plastic piece on the back of the lid. If it breaks, you're screwed. Also it feels as if the bowl is not quite as thick as the previous one. It is a powerful machine though and I still use it a ton

I genuinely hate this thing. This is my 3rd Cuisinart food processor. I totally loved the last 2 I had, and only upgraded because they eventually get a little dull and the plastic gets cloudy after a lot of use. I’ve never had one die. Anyway this one has been a total lemon. I hate the “safety” features. I hate the way the lid locks on, I hate cleaning it, I hate everything about it. It’s a poor design, apparently more focused on safety than being user friendly. Those 2 things should not be at odds, but in this instance, they are.

Here's why I regret buying it : 1) The parts are made of cheap plastic. After one wash in the top rack of the dishwasher, the base ( the main cup for processing) food doesn't fit properly with the lid. There is a visible bent in the base. 2)The blades are not as sharp as I would expect it to be. After trying to shred a carrot almost 3-inch slice was left ungrated between the grater disk and the lid. 3) There is no safe way to insert and eject the discs from the base . 4) In an attempt to make it "safe" it is more complicated than expected. and since the parts are made of cheap plastic they do not fit easily adding to the frustration. 5) It's pricy for what it's offering. 6) I tried to look for a replacement for the jar but it says model doesn't have spare parts. HATE IT.

First let me say I had an original Cuisinart DLC 8 for 40 odd years and I am a fan. Sadly it died after such long and faithful use every day. Being without it was very hard. After about a month of effort, I am on my 3rd new DLC-8SY!. We all know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? I was not too thrilled about getting a third one - same model. The first one never worked. The second worked only once and then stopped. After some research, which revealed an acknowledged design flaw in the trigger mechanism, I found if I placed my hand on the trigger side and pushed down it occasionally turned on. Not good. I returned it as well. I really wanted this particular model. It’s the size my recipes work best with and it fit the space under my counter where it’s predecessor sat. However, this one too had it’s issue. Every time I lifted the lid off, the small white trigger would quietly drop out and disappear - on the counter, down the drain, behind the pile of vegetable cuttings, etc. And then it wouldn’t work! I was constantly hunting for it - afraid it would end up in the garbage grinder and I would be left with another expensive piece of junk. I was fed up with repacking and schlepping the returns and also trying to live without one. Fortunately I was able to solve the flaw myself and have not experienced any further difficulties. So I settled and kept this one. Fingers crossed. To revamp this model Cuisinart reshaped the shaft - the spinning bit on the base and added small protrusions on the bowl platform. You can’t fit the old S blade, blender blade or stem on the new shaft. You can’t use the old bowl on the new base. However the old chopping and slicing disks do fit on the new stem which is about half an inch longer than the old one. Except why would you use the old blades when you have new ones? They are VERY sharp, something Cuisinart rightly emphasizes. I’ve worked with it for about 3 weeks now and I’m still not used to the trigger mechanism being farthest away from me. Fitting the work bowl is still not quite on automatic as I have to think about positioning it correctly. I am very glad I kept the two pronged “fork” from the old set as cleaning inside the S blade is not easy and this old tool works so well. I also miss the blending blade. I don’t want all my vegetables pureed and mixtures to be pablum. Even changing the order and timing doesn’t work as well as the non cutting blending blade. Why Cuisinart opted NOT to keep these tools in the ‘new” sets is a chintzy mistake in my opinion. Anyone who buys this model, I wish you better luck than I had. I waited 45 minutes on the phone with Cuisinart Customer Relations and never got to speak with anyone. I'm glad I solved the problem on my own. I'm still happy I finally got one that is acceptable. I would not want to be without it.

They added a safety feature that I hate!! The large plunger has a safety switch, so, you cannot load the feed/hopper and the safety switch has to be engaged before it will run. It runs quietly, and had a powerful motor, I loved my older version but it finally gave up the ghost after 25 years.

After going through 3 different processors, all bought at low prices, whatever was on sale. And all 3 crapping out in less than a year I decided to spend a little more. First off, this thing is super quiet, you can actually use it without OSHA hearing protection required... lol Secondly it is powerful, it can power through anything you stick in it. I am sold, worth every penny, and I would recommend to anyone looking for an upgrade to the common junk that goes for less than $60...

The inner stem is way too short on the "11" cup processor. If you add more than 3 cups of liquid to it, the liquid runs down the inner stem and onto your counter. When I make hummus, I dump in two cans of chick peas and a cup of liquid. With this processor, the liquid runs all over the counter. Useless unless your processing only solids or tiny quantities.

Absolutely hate this cheaply made piece of junk. I will NEVER buy cuisinart again. The chopping/mixing blade won't stay in place. It moves up the stem every time so nothing gets chopped or mixed. The on/off buttons are clunky. The safety lock is made of cheap plastic and it doesn't lock half the time - I'm sure it will break very quickly. The pusher sleeve is very awkward to use and hard to clean. I don't know who designed this machine but they should be fired. Severely disappointed.

This is a ridiculous design flaw. The center post is so short that it allows liquids to flow up and out ,all over the machine and counters. If all you want to do is slice and shred solids like vegetables and cheese you will be OK. If you want to incorporate liquids you are going to make a mess. Sent Back. Bought another manufacturer's machine. Thankfully AMAZON is great with returns!

This is a quality machine and does what it says it will do - but I hate how complicated it is to use. The large feed tube is a joke. The way it is configured, you still have to cut everything up to fit it in there. It's really stupid. It's like they went overboard on installing unnecessary safety features that truly just get in the way and make using the machine a hassle. So - although it really is a good machine - I wish I had gotten something else.

This is a food processor.....period. This is a piece of kitchen equipment that every home MUST have. Has increased efficiency by a factor of 10 times (10 times faster than anything the human hand can do). Safe. Quick to clean. Did not know what we were missing (unfortunately). Recommend as a go to slicer, shredder and chopper...PERIOD!

The food processor is powerful, well made and has high quality materials. It does everything well. Perfect for the home. Almost like having a professional model. I like that it can slice my vegetables thick or thin because it came with two sized slicer blades. The only negative is that the pusher assembly can't be taken apart for easy cleaning. But the dish washer doesn't have an issue with it.

Where to begin? Really hard to assemble. Really hard to clean. Poor performance with cheese, mushrooms, celery, blending. I love Cuisinart and this product got a very high review from a usually dependable source. I returned it.

There was so much to like about this food processor, but it was rendered useless within a week because a design flaw in the safety feature, which ensures it won't operate unless the bowl is perfectly attached to base, and the lid is perfectly seated onto the bowl. As the lid rotates into position, a little flimsy soft plastic guide depresses a long pin that then depresses a button on the base. But after the first use, the plastic guide was not strong enough to depress the pin and just bends up, so the unit will not turn on. I called Cuisinart and they just played dumb and suggested I return in to amazon (which I am doing). I troubleshot for hours: The only way I could make it work is to very dangerously not seat the bowl so I could access the safety button and depress it with the sharp end of a meat thermometer while with the other hand feed items into the bin. The rest of the unit is sturdy and well made and strong, I am flabbergasted that it was a failure for such a small, easily re-engineered part, but without it, it literally will not turn on. I read others reviews who experienced the same issue, who gerry-rigged some sort of pushing mechanism, but as I'm on the last day to return, I don't have time become an engineer to make work what Cuisinart should have already easily fixed. Oh well. Looking for recommendations on a unit that does not suffer from a break-in-a-week flaw.

After 38 yrs, I finally had to replace my original cuisinart - only because I somehow lost the top cover piece. It still works like a champ and had been used nonstop. I got the new one, used it twice... washed it in the dishwasher as noted in the instructions and now the new softer plastic will now not allow the top to fit or click into place. It seems that the quality is now cheaper and the motor feels weaker. Sadly will be sending this back and will buy the next one from a brick and mortar store where I can check it first before purchasing.

I bought this for one reason at the time - I wanted to make Toum (garlic paste) for my family. This sucker is powerful and since making the Toum I have found even more uses for it. We just did prime rib with a garlic-basil crust that I prepared in this FP and it took a matter of seconds to turn those fresh herbs and spices into an amazing spread. I am so glad I bought this - it was worth every single penny!

The Cuisinart motor is great. The design of the feed tube is ridiculous. Hard to clean hard to operate and looks potentially easily broken. This model is also discontinued so buyer beware. I will consider other models by Cuisinart.

Its very easy to use once you get used to it. This is the first food processor I've ever owned, so I was very hesitant/worried at first. The instructions included as well as online videos were extremely helpful. It has (what I call them) a low clearance top which makes it easy to store, as well as the tall top with the tube chute. The disks are substantial (not flimsy). I haven't used all the disks and gadgets yet, and cannot say whether it lasts a long time since I just bought it, but it seems like a quality appliance. The only con: for the price, the 's' blade should come in a case of some sort; if I hadn't been extremely cautious (I'm on blood thinners), I would have cut myself while unpacking all the pieces.

I have used my first Cusinart food processor for a good 30 plus years. It worked as great as the first day I used it, but the bowl had cracks and breaks but the motor still ran. I knew it was only a matter of time before it would fail due to those cracks so I decided to replace it! WOW have they made some changes and improvements. It took a while to get used to the new configuration but I love it as much as ever.

I have had a Cuisinart Junior for so many years, but now wanted a bigger food processor. I love the features this one provides, especially the second, flatter lid. To appreciate how to use this you really should watch the youtube videos made by Cuisinart. They apparently used to provide a DVD, but now the DVD videos are on youtube instead, and really are helpful. Even being familiar with Cuisinart food processors I learned some things watching the videos, such as how the blades line up with the post on the inside, and how the feeding tube works. The manual does not explain all this! I read some reviews first and was concerned about ordering this model because some people were complaining about how difficult it was to use. Then I remembered how most people don’t read manuals and don’t watch videos. Their loss. This is a FANTASTIC FOOD PROCESSOR!! It is solid, does not move around, yet is easy to move or reposition it, cleans up beautifully.

I really wanted to love this food processor but I just couldn’t. It’s quiet, has a great capacity, blades were sharp. BUT the first thing I tried to make was a few batches of salsa for canning. Every single batch leaked out of the center. The cone that the blade is attached to is too short and when the salsa liquefied it went under the blade and out the center of the canister...onto the base. There is a warning on the canister to not fill liquid above a certain line, but I didn’t put in liquid, I put in veggies, which is what the processor is intended for. Really bummed. Returned.

I upgraded to this 11 cup cuisinart, and am very happy with it! This machine is substantial and weighty. The bowl is a heavier plastic than my old one, and it's simple to use. This machine's motor runs at a low hum, and doesn't shriek while working.I also purchased the caddy that stores the cuisinart blades! Keeps fingers safe! Very happy with my purchase!

This is my second in 30 years. My first finally called it quits. Still America’s Test Kitchen recommendation I love this thing!!! But let’s face it...if you are using it you have to plan ahead. This isn’t the appliance you pull out to shred 6 oz of cheddar. I know going in I’m setting myself up to prep all my cheese 264 oz of various varieties shredded in a variety of manners. I’m not using it to slice 1 zucchini I’m prepping 20-30. So clear the counter, label your containers, and get busy!!! The upgraded safety features [compared to 30 years ago when I initially stepped into the Cuisinart world] are much needed and well designed. While some may find them irritating they keep you from filing a medical claim because you were not paying attention. As usual, washes up perfectly in top rack of my dishwasher but I NEVER allow ANYONE except myself to remove blades from dishwasher THEY ARE SHARP and careless mishandling could result in a “situation”. The feeder tube is not the easiest/quickest thing to clean when switching between lets say sharp cheddar to mozzarella cheese. So again, plan ahead. Don’t quit your day job, but do know you aren’t going to shred a 32 oz of cheese and slap all the parts in dishwasher in 5 minutes and call it a day. But if you need an actual food processor this is WELL worth the investment. As I stated my first one lasted 30 years and only replaced the blades twice.

I used to have an earlier model of this processor years ago and then made the mistake of buying a Kitchen Aid which was bulky and fell apart after just two years of work. Cuisinart is by far the best. Easy to clean, use, does a great job, and works for years!

Perfect for the two of us. Capable of prepping for 5-6 though. Easy cleanup. Quiet operation. Didn’t want one that would be a counter top behemoth. This one is the Goldilocks cuisinart. Also, love the two lids that come with it as opposed to just one the other models get.

My previous DLC 8 had a cracked bowl and I couldn't find a replacement that would fit the cover I had, so I ordered a new one. Wow! Love the new on/off/pulse controls and the extra cover to use when chopping. The previous reviews talked about being difficult to clean, but I did not experience that at all. The "pusher" releases and can be cleaned separately from the tube. I'm sorry I waited so long to get a new one.

I realized too late it was a defective product. The lid won't allow you to use large feed tube. You have to take whole lid off to fit food in feed tube then put back on as another purchaser found out . Im not sure who's responsible for giving me a defective unit ,Cuisinart or Amazon for selling it but I just know waited too long to notice it.

Sad to say but this is a on and off machine, that's it. No in between, mix, slow mix. So on. When using the bread mixer you have to hold on for dear life, the bowl goes all over the place. Safety wise, you have to have the top on before the machine will turn on, which if it's not perfectly straight and I mean straight this thing won't turn on. Then if you happen to have a ruler on hand then you can line it up. Way to long for this process.

Bought this as a replacement for my wife’s old cuisinart. Though the motor and base on the old one still works, it was cheaper to buy a new unit than replace the old plastic upper parts which finally broke. On a positive note all the blades from the old unit fit the new unit. On a negative note the alignment of the upper plastic to the base is touchy and it often takes some effort to get it right to make it work.

One of the great summer staples that a food processor should make easy work of is cole slaw. This is the only food processor I've seen that makes the shredding task worse. The large feeder tube is so cumbersome and counterintuitive as to make it almost useless. I'm really disgusted because I didn't see the problem until after I threw out the box. Now I have to live with this turd til I can afford one designed by engineers who design with the user in mind.

The quality and built are fine and it is sturdy. Not great for chopping small quantities of vegetables. For slicing it is great. I wish there were more accessory blades and tools. The tube at the top is a little bit small in width for slicing cucumbers whole. It's an adequate device but I hoped for better.

This food processor is hard to use. I bought it because it was cuisineart and I trusted the brand. It was so hard to figure out how to operate the first time, I’m a caterer years of experience, since 1993. I have operated all kinds of food processors. The second time I tried to use it, the processor would not work at all. After a long wait when I got ahold of cuisineart support, their guidance was, “make sure the outlet you’re plugging it in is working”!!! When I assured them the outlet is working they said, “send it in to be repaired”. There was absolutely no sense of urgency or empathy. I was in middle of a catering job. Had to run out and buy a food processor.

We replaced our old old DLC-2011* with this model. So many improvements, where to begin? - It's so quiet. Making mayonnaise is a frequent event at our house and this is a pleasure. No more teeth-gritting. -The simple lid without the chute IS A DREAM TO CLEAN -The old model collected a lot of water in the chambers that held the safety mechanism, and the handle. Eventually, this developed mildew (honestly we should've replaced it a long time ago for this reason). This model seems like it will not have this problem. -The safety is a little tight (locking the bowl and getting the lid to activate the safety), this might improve with use. -No dough blade, but then, we never really used that thing. -The chute construction is a little baffling. There's flexible plastic clippy type thing, clear sliding parts, a black pusher. I've yet to use it. It seems okay, and as above with the mildew problem of the old model, seems like it will dry out completely. -Paddle operation is nice. The old model had the plastic covering over buttons which were wearing out and breaking. The paddles will wipe clean, and offer very efficient control (no more button mashing, especially when pulsing). -The cord keeper! Oh, this is a dream. A little strappy thing that means no more winding the cord around the unit to keep it from dangling off the prep table. This is better than a retractable cord that could malfunction. In summary: Well done, product engineers. Honestly, I considered one of those other units that does all the things like spiralizing etc. but this Cuisinart is a trusty workhorse. It's simply well designed, it does what it does perfectly, and our $20 hand-spiralizer works just fine.

Disappointed in the quality, especially compared to the heavy duty food processor I bought over 15 years ago. It feels cheap and flimsy. And it takes a few tries to match the pieces when putting the lid on. I wish I'd spent a little more and bought a commercial model.

I bought this to replace an older Cusinart food processor that I loved. The new design for closing the top is so difficult that I have to wonder if there is something wrong but I read another review with the same complaint. Also the large push tool doesn't detach making it harder to clean. So disappointed . You can not run it if the top isn't set just right. It came with no instructions and said to go on line and watch the instructional video. The online site had no instructional video for the food processor. I sent them an email requesting instructions a month ago and have never heard back.

Maybe I am old fashioned but I do realize that I have to take responsibility for my actions and that includes being aware of sharp blades and whirring motors. I have an at least 20 year old Cuisinart FP and it still works fine. I thought I would get a larger one and a more up to date one. Well... once I got it out of the box I was very disappointed in what I feel are flimsy plastic bits designed to make sure someone doesn't do anything stupid while using it. So I repacked it and sent it back. Will continue to use my current Cusininart FP until it dies I guess. It has basic safely features which work well for me. So if you are likely to be not focussed on what you are doing and might slice your fingers off when using a food processor, then this model has plenty of safety features and I am sure works as well as my old/current one.

I gathered all my ingredients, read directions and watched YouTube videos on how to use. I was super excited, pushed down the start button and absolutely nothing happened. Tried different outlets and called customer service if it was on Re-call list, but nothing. Such a disappointing experience! Oh, and putting all the pieces back in the box to return, was a nightmare. Saw a few reviews that stated the same issue. Seems like it's Russian roulette if you get a mobile one or a dead beat. What the hell happened to quality check/control Cuisinart???!!

Heavy. Make sure your counter can support its weight. Sturdy and definitely easier than cutting things by hand. Useful for other kinds of food processing besides (like mixing dough) with the right attachment blade.

Had the return the first one because of this issue, asked for replacement since most of the reviews were positive and I though I got a defective unit. The replacement worked once after unboxing but stopped working exactly 35 days after purchase. The return window is now closed so need to deal with Cuisinart customer support. This is pretty bad, read the low-star reviews, most of them mention this problem...

I hate all the plastic, but this is one serious food processor once you get past that plastic! By all means do your homework, but you will be hard pressed to beat this within a comparable price range. Bang for the buck this is where it's at! You get pro level performance at consumer pricing and just throw on a 5 year extended warranty for cheap to have that pro level piece of mind. It's got big balls in a home gamer package, I'd buy it again without question, if and when I need to. You're all reading this, you all know exactly where you want to be in the food processing world. This machine is awesome! Spend a dime or don't, this machine is pretty much just good enough for me!

We bought this to replace our 35-year-old Cuisinart, and find this one just as good, even better, than the original - if it lasts as long! Our original was made in Japan, but the new one is made in China. But the base and motor seem to be the same, and one of the extra top covers (that the original did not have) that come with this new model is very good and convenient. So our vote is two thumbs up.

My food processor is in use nearly every day. My first 11 cup Cuisinart food processor I bought in 1985. Still runs like a charm but can't get the bowls replaced anymore. Bought the new Cuisinart 11 cup. Seems okay but isn't as heavy or seem as sturdy. We will see how long this one lasts. This bowl does fit my old base so am not discarding it. It will be my backup.

The machine is excellent with an incredibly stupid engineering decision on the main cover/lid. The soft plastic "safety" device only partially depresses the "safety" switch. This means that it will can not do things like shredding since the other cover will not fit over the shredding plate. I had resigned myself to using just the simple cover and chopping and mixing on the bowl. Just before a party, I tried to shred some carrots and there the combination of shredder and main cover did not work at all. After an hour's experimenting, I put a small piece of plastic above the soft "safety" device and another small piece above the "safety" rod. This allowed it to depress enough to work (and it worked very effectively). THIS IS RIDICULOUS

Good quality, overall but have had some difficulty with getting parts aligned correctly to function. I LOVE built in safety features, but the narrow window of alignment is frustrating! I have spent a lot of time after thinking everything was set to chop, slice or shred, only to have food processor act like it had no power. This has happened several times and had to resort to alternate methods. No response when I contacted Cuisinart customer service. Maybe it was a learning curve, but was frustrating. Now that I have used it more, I have fewer problems, but it still is not as easy as it should be, IMHO so does not get used as much as I intended for it to be used. :(

This food processor is NOT user friendly at all. The design is horrible, it is so cumbersome that I don't even use it. I thought it was just me, but over the holiday weekend other people tried to use it and had the same issues - ended up just hand grating and chopping. I wish I had returned this when I had the opportunity. I wasted the money on this. Too bad, I thought Cuisinart was a reliable brand.

This is so efficient I love it! It is just a bit of a hassle to get it together because it's not clear how to put it together to get it working. I usually end up putting it together 2-3 times before it starts to work for the safety mechanisms. I do like it when I can get it to work! Not the most intuitive but really great when you get the hang of it!

This is a kitchen staple and my first stand alone food processor. I’ve had combination units before that do not compare. The only thing I wish is that it would come with the 1mm slicing attachment. For the price it should be included. I’ve only used this a few time. It shredded cabbage for slaw perfectly and evenly ground chicken for chicken salad, and made smooth humus. I love having the second lid without the feed attachment. It is very powerful.

The lid for my Kitchenaid food processor (10+ years) could not be replaced. So, I decided to give Cuisinart a try again. I have had Cuisinart food processors over the years and for the most part been pleased. When this model arrived from Amazon, I began unpacking and was amazed at how cheap and flimsy it was. I placed it on the counter with the main blade and locked the unit and lid together. Next, I turned the unit on. It definitely worked, but even empty I knew this processor was a "walker" and would not last. Amazon has been wonderful and I will receive a refund. It's time to go back to Kitchenaid!

I love that I can use this while my baby is sleeping it's sooo quiet. I would suggest if you're wanting to blend something that's 1-2 cups or less that you size down a bit because it won't even blend things, the blade doesn't go completely to the bottom of the container.

There were two parts missing from what the video demonstration said would be included. Contacted Cuisinart and they are sending those to me. Thank you, Cuisinart! Actually thought the unit was going to be "stainless" but it is not. That aside. I couldn't wait to get my new Cuisinart and used it right away to make cream of carrot soup which took a fraction of the time. Unlike my old very heavy 14 cup Cuisinart this little one will stay on the counter. Takes up no space and doesn't even look like an 11 cup but it is. Quiet like my old 14 cup and I do prefer the paddles to the buttons on the newer models. Doesn't look "pretty" like the newer models but this is a mean little machine that does the work and that is what counts for me.

This is good value for the money, with lots of parts and a heavy duty motor. Stupid design flaw, though - two of the pieces can't be separated, making for a hassle when washing and also making it awkward to use slicing discs with large items like potatoes or large hunks of cheese. It's not a deal breaker, but it was a dumb design choice and a step back from the last Cuisinart I had (which I accidentally destroyed - no fault of Cuisinart's).

The Cuisinart I had used (maybe over-used?) for 35 years finally broke off a small plastic piece and rather than trying to replace that part I decided to get a new one. I'm very happy with this new one, which is very similar but upgraded a bit. If it lasts another 35 years, my descendants will be using it. I wish MY body parts lasted as long!

Pros: I've used it twice so far for meat (freeze the meat a little before slicing) and potato slicing. Overall, I'm satisfied. Large enough capacity and plenty of power. Like the wide mouth feed chute. I have not done any dough making or meat grinding yet, so the 5 stars may be premature, but so far so good. Cons: I purchased the 6 mm slicing disk separately. The slicing disks included cut too thin. This is nothing but a marketing ploy to compel you to buy an additional disk because the ones included are not good for a whole lot and maybe not good for anything depending on what needs to be sliced. That obviously makes the overall cost higher than the advertised price.

Pros: Easy To Use, Lighter than our old one, Quiet, Dishwasher Safe, Powerful Motor, Durable, Handles Tough Jobs Cons: Other thoughts: This machine replaces the one I bought in 1979, which worked until my husband finally burned up the motor grinding too much meat at one time. Had he not committee this kitchen faux pas, I would probably still be using the one I got more than 30 years ago. I love it for kneading bread--who needs a bread machine? I made 2-4 loaves a week in the old one for more than 30 years. This new model should outlast me; I'll leave it to one of my children in my will.

This machine works great. It's so fast & easy to grate carrots for salad or carrot cake. Potatoes for hashbrowns in the time of a commercial. I just used it to slice apples for a crisp and the larger slicing disk that came with it was perfect. It's solid. It doesn't vibrate on the counter top. It's made very well. Reminds of the really nice one I bought years ago that my daughter "stole" because she loved it so much. Now she doesn't have to feel guilty about borrowing it for so long.

After ten years with the smallest, cheapest Cuisinart food processor, which really was just a chopper, we decided we were tired of slicing cabbage and carrots and potatoes and eggs and other things by hand and ordered this. WHY WHY did we wait ten years??? Ok, it's a beast - it's heavy, very heavy for it's size - BUT it's simple to operate, and the motor is tremendously powerful. Our first use was the aforementioned cabbage, which we estimate to complete a manual 15 minute shredding task in about 60 seconds. Our second use was more sophisticated: making 'toum', the north African/mid eastern garlic sauce of garlic emulsified with 4 cups of neutral oil and lemon - which requires running the food processor at full speed for 10-15 minutes continuously while pouring a thin stream of oil into the garlic puree. Handled that beautifully as well. This model came with 3 disks. I ordered the dough blade separately because we make bread and the regular blade won't work. I also ordered separately a blade holder for the 3 blades. I'll order another - they're stackable and invaluable. I've literally never seen blades this sharp even on powertools and hand-sharpened knives, so I couldn't put them into a drawer and risk a cut. All parts except the base are dishwasher safe, though generally we avoid using any lemon-based detergent when washing silverware or blades like these. Two very minor issues/notes: 1) if you have limited hand strength or bad arthritis, this base is HEAVY and it doesn't slide on the counter, for safety reasons - you may need help moving it around/lifting it. It's not crazy heavy, but there's nowhere to 'grip' on the sides, so you need your full hand strength to handle it. Once in place, blades and the cup are simple and easy to maneuver and won't be a problem. 2) the directions are not great - it seems to assume you've owned one before, and I struggled for a few minutes to figure out how to attach the disk core support into the slicing disk base. It was intuitive AFTER I figured it out - if you've owned one of these before, clearly not an issue :) We did not look at other brands as the price for quality made this a good value. We did consider buying attachments for our KitchenAid stand mixer, but the food processor functionality was quite limited by comparison (and gets poor reviews) without buying more parts, and at that point it seemed more logical and space-efficient to just buy an actual food processor.

Does a good job. Creates short work of the more time consuming prep tasks. Cleans fairly easily. But for the price I wish it came with the 6mm slicing blade. If anything the 4mm blade should be the optional one.

I owned a Cuisinart processor in the past that was very similar to this new 11 cup processor. I used my old one for many years until I finally wore it out. I use it mostly for shedding vegetables for soups and salads. I also use it on a daily basis for pureeing food for my 95 year old mother-in-law who is unable to chew her food - a life saver in this area. Other uses are for making almond butter and even on occasion grinding coffee beans in small amounts. Great machine for the price.

It makes me sad to only give this three stars, as I am a diehard fan of this brand and own many of their appliances, but the quality isn't there. I bought this to replace a very similar but much older Cuisinart (I got one used at a tag sale about 20 years ago). That old one still works but the handle on the bowl cracked and the little plastic piece that clicks in to lock the lid also broke off finally. On this new one, the blades, the motor and the overall feel are very similar in quality. It seems to have good mixing and chopping power. However, I'm deeply concerned about the locking plastic pieces on the lid and the large "pusher" top (see the pictures). There is a white piece of plastic that feels soft and flimsy, and there are two clear soft plastic pieces sticking off the "pusher" lid that click into the wide mouth top. These pieces are flexible, weak, and likely will not last 20 years. Honestly, I just wanted to replace the bowl and lid for my old one since the blades and motor are still great, but everywhere I looked, the replacement parts would run me a bit over $100, so I figured I'd just get a new one. Mistake. Cuisinart, your current design is inferior and I can't recommend this as highly as I used to. I'm just glad I bought the extra product insurance.

I am replacing one I bought many years ago. I was glad I could replace it and know how to use it right away. It is wonderful. I just bought a new blade holder box for it. I will still use my old one after I order some missing parts, like the blade holder stem. After moving twice I had finally lost 2 slicing blades and the stem, thus the need for a new machine. The motor still works great on the old one and will be fine for the summer home.

I've had my processor for nearly a year now and don't know how I lived without it. It has made food prep considerably faster for a number of dishes. I do have some minor complaints, however. The processor will not turn on unless the feed cover is in place. I understand that this is a safety measure, but it is mildly annoying to have to remove parts from the processor just to add an ingredient that does not quite fit into the feed tube. There is also the fact that the feed tube is not detachable from the cover. Once again while I understand that this is for safety, it makes cleaning very difficult. I also wish there was an attachment for smaller items. The processors my mother has owned all had a bowl that fit into the top with a smaller blade for things like mincing garlic. I can't seem to find this feature for any of the cuisinarts I viewed. None of these are all that bothersome, though. It appears to have a strong motor, has very little problem chopping and slicing, so I am happy.

I love this food processor. This is the 2nd one I have had. My first one was about 12 years old. It is the work horse in my kitchen. The stress I put this machine under is great, from making pizza dough to bread crumbs and it never failed me. The reason for a new one was I put in a very dry chunk of cheese to grate and it cracked the lid, got stuck and rather than unsticking it, I tried to keep grating and seized the motor. Not the product fault but mine.

Actually, it is a beautiful machine: powerful motor(when you can turn it on..see further below), solid and sharp blades, etc. But it has one MAJOR design flaw. The safety switch is a little black button that should be depressed by putting the lid on properly. With the compact lid, this works well--because on that lid, they used a hard plastic tab that, when you twist the lid on properly, pushes down a rod that pushes the safety switch down and allows the machine to operate. However, the "big" lid with the feeder tube (the one you need for shredding or slicing) is made with a flimsy, FLEXIBLE piece of plastic that can't possible exert enough pressure on that rod to engage the safety switch. Since I bought it for slicing and shredding mainly, and couldn't get the machine to run due to that flaw, I never got to use it and had to return it right away. Very disappointing. It's hard to believe anyone at Cuisinart thought this was a good idea. Obviously, they corrected it with the compact lid, but still send out the flawed feeder tube lid.

Well, it works...but not as good as our prior 10 yr old Kitchen Aid. My wife had an older Kitchen Aid 11 cup. She cans/bottles/processes alot of food so she used it alot. The Kitchen Aid lasted probably 10 years plus and then the bowl broke last week and there is no replacement part so we had to get something new...so based on reviews we picked this Cuisinart 11 cup. One of the items my wife cans alot of are tomatoes that she uses in various recipes throughout the year. This was the first item she processed with the new Cuisinart. By her report it took approximately 4 times as long to process the stewed tomatoes with this new Cuisinart vs her old Kitchen Aid...she said the motor strength appeared to be much weaker in terms of results/time it took to process this particular tomato item. This is only a single item to be fair but....the result is still the result...much slower. After reading all the positive reviews we choose the Cuisinart but my wife is less than thrilled. I have no idea if the new Kitchen Aid has a weaker motor now too but of course it is a pain to pack all the Cuisinart and its parts back up and pay for return shipping. As I was finishing this review I just read some of the new Kitchen Aid reviews for their 11 cup. Some complaints of weak motor and less than optimal function. Seems like everyone is now stuck with subpar performance out of these newer models. Seems like an opportunity for someone to produce a truly superior market and clean up with a processor that actually has the power to do what it says it is supposed to do.

I like this food processor. I researched it and I like the smaller size than the 14 cup. I cook mostly for my self and this is easier to use and move in and out of the cupboard. It shreds cheese and vegetables well and with ease. I have used the bowl processor for hummus, pie crust, salsa and I like how it performs.

I bought this to replace the same model I originally acquired in 1993. That one served me for many years, but the latch for the feeder-top device finally broke after 15+ years of regular use. Instead of trying to buy a replacement part, I decided to purchase another brand that was less expensive and ended up very disappointed with its performance. I finally replaced the knock-off with the Cuisinart and now I wonder why I waited so long to do so. This food processor is, in my experience, the best. It feels solid and well-made. The base is heavy and the rubber feet keep it firmly in place on the countertop. The motor is up to the challenge of mixing doughs. The disc blades are sharp and make quick work of slicing and shredding and mixing. I like the addition of a low-profile lid, to be used when mixing with the blade (not with the slicing or shredding discs). I purchased the disc storage container to go with it and am very happy with the addition of this to the set. Can't recommend this food processor enough - you won't be disappointed.

There are a myriad of different styles of Cusinarts to choose from. I opted for this one, which is the same capacity as my old one, because a) small footprint; b) lighter in weight (an issue since I put it away after use); c) the clean, boxy design. Costco had one of the large globular-style Cusinarts now on the market and although the price was right, it was not something I wanted to live with. I also liked the idea of having a heavy appliance delivered to my door in 2-days time (the lure of Amazon Prime). The price of this model is quite reasonable and so far it works perfectly. Quieter than my old Cuisinart. The lid broke on the last one and replacing it would have cost almost half as much as a new one.

I have to give this a low review. The locking mechanism on the bowl broke in less than 60 days. One of the tabs that holds the lid locked to the bowl broke off. The product is not usable at this point. Hopefully Cuisinart will stand behind their unit. I will update my review at that time. Edit. Amazon has come through. We were just outside the 30 day window when the tab broke off. They stood behind it, and are a,lowing for a return. Still haven't heard anything back from Cuisinart. They have to know about this issue.

I have used this model of 11 cup food processor for 10 years now, replacing parts as needed and the actual base twice, for a total of 3 machines in 10 years. I use it daily, professionally (although be warned, in spite of the fact that it is called 'Pro' and they advertise that it is 'for a chef', the warranty will not cover professional use, only household use.) The machine itself does a great job and I would highly recommend it, yet they made a major design change for this latest model and it is terrible. Rather than keeping it simple with the lid and food pusher, they created a lid that requires a 'pusher sleeve', which is a frustrating contraption that is difficult to clean, and it is made of very flimsy plastic which MUST connect with a slot to engage the motor. As we predicted the moment we saw it, the piece broke after a month of use, of course just past the possibility of returning by way of Amazon's generous policy. Getting a new one is expensive and I fear it is something we will repeat several times over, as Cuisinart offers no options for the machine at all, according to the company representative I spoke with by phone. They do not have a mechanism for feedback, so I am under the impression that they do not care what the customer thinks about the product. We have continued with this line so that we can reuse the parts from past models that are still in good condition, but the next time this piece (or any part) breaks I will bite the bullet and purchase an entirely different brand. This may not be as big a concern to the home user, however the minute I saw this new part, I groaned inwardly knowing that it would break within a few uses, even at home, and I'm not even willing to swap it out for the one I use at home because of that issue. The experience has been far more frustrating than it needs to be since the company will not help me with this problem, nor guide me in finding a suitable replacement (she was not interested in my experience at all. When I called for assistance in finding a machine we could use she just told me to go on to the web site and figure out which things might work for me), or listen to feedback.
