It is a nice and beautiful design, convenient for a family of 4 who drinks morning coffee. The programmed timing feature is awesome, I set the program to start brewing at 4:45 am, I leave the house at 5, so i find my coffee ready when I leave, in addition to that, the rest of the family will find their coffee is ready when the wake up around 5:30 am. I had a plain old regular coffee maker, this Hamilton Beach coffee maker is like the difference between night & day. The old one was difficult to operate. You couldn't easily pull out the coffee filter, & water would go all over the counter. This coffee maker is easy to use & not messy. I will only buy Hamilton Beach coffee makers from now on. This hamilton beach coffee maker looked really nice coming out of the box. The cup measurements seem to be a little off. 4 cups in the caraf equals 5 cups in the water window when you pour it in the machine. I haven't been able to make a strong enough cup of coffee yet. I love the chic clean lines of the Hamilton Beach 12-cup programmable easy access deluxe coffee maker. It just looks wonderful on my kitchen counter. I like the idea that I don't have to wait for the brew to be finished before a grab my first coffee of the morning with the auto pause you can get a cup anytime even if it's brewing. The programmable feature let's me get up to fresh brewed coffee every morning and I don't have to worry, the last cup of coffee tastes as good as the first. I love this coffee maker. I haven't had a programmable coffee maker before and I love getting up to the smell of fresh coffee. It is easy to program and so simple to use. This coffeemaker is a great little WONDER! Here's why: - It makes great coffee and even BOLD coffee. This is something I've never had a drip coffeemaker be able to do - brew a decent cup of BOLD coffee. This was why in the past, I always gravitated to percolators. - Small footprint; I was surprised that it didn't take up much room on the counter. A plus in my book. - Cord storage in the back; so you don't have excess cord clutter on the counter. Another plus in my book. - There is a water level window on the outside so you can easily see the level. Also the markings on the carafe match the markings on the level window perfectly. So you know exactly how much water you're putting in. Another plus in my book. - The ability to brew only 1-4 cups of coffee instead of a full pot is great too. - The Swivel Showerhead on the inside makes it easy to take the filter basket out when you need to. - There is a place at the base of the Swivel Showerhead to put in a water filter if needed. A very good thing to have if you have hard water. - The clock was easy to set and the programming feature to brew a pot in the mornings before you wake up was a breeze to use! - It even has the ability to momentarily stop the flow of coffee to the carafe so you can get a cup of coffee! - It has a pleasant & pleasing look and it has been designed very well for it's features. - The Owner's / Instruction booklet was easy to understand. The only thing I would change or add is to include a complimentary pack of coffee filters and a water filter. So a person can see what they look like. I have to admit, I was really surprised at this coffeemaker. I mean, how many ways can a coffee maker be different after all these years of being on the market, but this one is. A) It makes a really nice cup of coffee. I also have an expensive coffee machine, and the coffee from the Hamilton Beach was just as good, if not better. B) The programable feature is so handy. I love waking up to a freshly brewed cup of java! C) It's pretty!!! Holy cow! I wasn't expecting it to be so attractive on my counter. D) Last but certainly not least, the coffee was hot! Most basic coffee makers cannot get the coffee hot enough without it tasting burnt. This coffee maker makes coffee that is nice and hot....especially comforting on these northern autumn mornings. This is a basic coffee maker with upgraded features. You can program it to start at a specific time. It has settings for bold, normal or small amounts. The features I like best are that you can pour a cup before the pot is finished and that it turns itself off after two hours. No more wondering if I left the coffee maker on! I had been using another brand until I got this Hamilton Beach 12 cup programmable coffee maker. After years of replacing those coffee makers because something just always didn't work right. Hot plates that got too hot so the coffee tasted burnt, brewing that took too long and I always had to babysit it while brewing so I didn't end up with half of my grounds staying dry. Then the morning I used the Hamilton Beach, I finally had a good cup of coffee! At first I tried them side by side for comparison, but quickly claimed the Hamilton Beach for my own. There are 3 brew options, regular, bold and a 1-4 cup option. I have tried all 3 and was not disappointed. While the bold option obviously takes a little longer to brew since it gives your grounds more time to bloom, the difference is negligible. And if you program it to brew just before rising, you don't notice at all. The 1-4 cup option is nice too since it gives the grounds time to become saturated enough to extract the flavor. The warming plate doesn't get so hot that the coffee get that charred flavor and the 2 hr auto off feature makes sure that I don't have to chisel coffee out of the pot if I forget to turn it off. The brew basket is taller and narrower than others, the brew head has a nice pattern so it reaches all of the grounds and the water brew temperature is spot on. I wanted to give this coffee maker 5 stars but I had one criticism. Coffee grounds tend to start going stale pretty quickly when exposed to air so I would suggest that a lid seal be devised to prevent this from happening when letting them sit overnight if using the programmed auto on feature. Overall, I am quite happy with this coffee maker! It doesn't disappoint no matter how many cups you make. My husband calls me a java junkie since I like my coffee pretty strong and I call him a novice since his is so weak, this maker keep us both happy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
