Easily schedule your meal to be ready when you want it with programmable times ranging from 30 minutes to 18 hours and low or high heat settings. This slow cooker’s extra-large, 8 quart capacity and oval shape make it ideal for cooking larger roasts or cuts of meat. Its size also makes it perfect for entertaining, special occasions or large family meals. A countdown timer lets you keep track of when dinner will be ready. And once cooking time is up, the slow cooker automatically switches to warm. When you’re done, both the lid and crock remove easily and can go into the dishwasher for cleanup. Use the easy-clean touch pad to choose high or low temperature setting and cooking times ranging from 30 minutes to 18 hours. A countdown timer displays remaining cooking time. This slow cooker is sized just right for feeding a crowd, satisfying the appetite of a large family or batch cooking. The oval-shaped stoneware can fit a variety of foods, such as an 8lb. chicken or a 6lb. roast. Once your cooking time is up, the slow cooker automatically shifts to warm. large 8 qt. cooks nicely and the timer feature keeps the food warm. Have done many meals in it with no problem. Just a hit. use Pam on the crock before cooking. makes cleanup much easier.

I have been looking for a slow cooker that can handle large quantities for our weekly family dinner (8-12 adults) This 8 quart model is great! My first meal in it was 20 medium pork chops with a glaze. This week I did chicken and dumplings (1 1/2 times the recipe for a 6 quart slow cooker). Both cooked perfectly - plenty of room with no bubbling over the top. I always use a disposable liner on my slow cookers and was afraid that I would not find any to fit this larger one, but my normal liner that says it fits up to 6.5 quart fit well with a little stretching to accommodate the crock handles. It was tall enough to go completely over the bottom and overhang the top. I really like the control pad and led display - very easy to set and read. The time count down that turns the temperature to warm after set time is reached is a good feature as many times I have forgotten to turn a slow cooker to low when we started serving. The only improvement I would like to see is a separate light to indicate that the cooking time has been reached it is now counting up the warming time - or maybe the warm temp light showing yellow instead of red. I am thoroughly pleased with my Hamilton Beach 8 quart slow cooker! I have used it to prepare different types of food, from a robust pot roast with scads of vegetables, to a delicate, creamy rice pudding. The cooker performs beautifully. It cooks perfectly and uniformly in the shortest time specified in the recipes. It's clear lid enables me to check the cooking food without allowing any heat to escape by lifting the lid. The "warm" feature is a great help, particularly since it keeps track of how much time it holds the food after it has cooked. I love the large size! I've doubled sized each recipe I've made and cut the time I have to cook anything in half. Finally, it is such a handsome design that I'm proud to display it. The crock is heavy and somewhat bulky to clean, but that is only due to it's large capacity. I look forward to years of fun, easy cooking with my slow cooker. It's truly a top quality product. Nice ceramic crock held the heat. This is the largest cooker I have ever had. Great for a big pot of chili or cooking a pork butt for pulled pork. Easy to use and works very well. Definitely met my expectations! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The Hamilton Beach 8 Quart Programmable Countdown Slow Cooker is an attractive, state of the art kitchen appliance. The sleek black and stainless steel base sets firmly on the counter and does not slide. The large, oval black stoneware crock is easy to clean and doesn't show stains. The warm, low, and high heat settings and cooking time are separate, and easy to change independently. I like that after the cooking time, it automatically switches to warm, and the count-down cooking display switches to counting up, indicating the length of time the slow cooker has been on warm. I went to the internet for recipes and decided on a 7- lb. turkey breast. It was beautifully cooked, well done and juicy, in less than four hours on high. The next day I tried a new recipe for black bean and pumpkin chili with turkey, since I had plenty ready to go! I was able to double the recipe in the very generous sized crock, and after four hours on low, the chili was ready--and so were we! It was a real hit! Since making applesauce was on the list with more than ample Michigan apples this year, I decided to try the slow cooker for that for the first time. I filled the crock with apple slices, added spices, and programmed it for two hours on high. After a quick stir, I switched to low for one hour and the applesauce was done. It was so easy, I'll never cook it any other way again! I am very impressed with both the size and quality of this slow cooker, as well as the ease of use. Cleanup is a breeze, since the crock is removable and dishwasher safe, as is the glass lid. The instructions are concise and easy to understand, and I had no problem programming it for the first time. The only thing I would have liked is a basic chart with approximate times and temperatures for a few of the likely choices for a large, family sized cooker, such as the 8-lb. chicken or 6-lb. roast mentioned on the box.
