Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro Juicer Review

Decided to get a new juicer. I had a Black & Decker juicer that was smaller and would only accept smaller cut up pieces of fruits and veggies. This juicer has a larger "mouth" and should be a bit nicer to use. Lets see how it does!

Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor. LINK TO Big Mouth Juice Extractor: http://amzn.to/1E82279 It measures 14 inches tall by 12 inches wide. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor weighs about 7 pounds. This is the white version which looks pretty cool with the green latch and top but it could get stained easily. This juicer is about $50. If buy the black version, it’s about $60. It has an 800 watt motor and a simple on/off switch. The feed chute is 3” and will fit some fruits and vegetables whole saving you time on cutting up the produce. The cutter/strainer is stainless steel. The spout is nicely designed and juice should flow directly into your glass. The pulp bin is large so you don’t have to empty this out while you’re juicing. The removable plastic parts are dishwasher safe. A Cleaning brush is included and is helpful in cleaning the strainer. I always recommend cleaning the juicer immediately after juicing because it’s really easy and quick. The longer food sits in the strainer, the harder it is to clean. The juicer did a good job of processing the apples, oranges, carrots and kale. For $50, it is a good value for a basic juicer.

I don’t write many reviews but I have discovered the joy of juicing and Hamilton Beach Premium Juicer is part of that so I wanted to share my experience after two weeks using the Hamilton Beach Premium Juicer. This is a powerful machine that has no problem with the hard vegetables like beets, carrots, lemons, and limes with the rind and it just breezes through celery and cucumbers. Some have complained of it leaking but I have discovered that it only leaks if the top is not on securely or it’s too full of pulp. I’ve also added cheese cloth to the collection bin to help with clean up and so I can squeeze any remaining juice out after the process is done. The cheesecloth also seems to provide a tighter seal. But you must make sure that everything is tight and locked before you start. The only time it leaked was when I had juiced so much that the top was full and there was no more room for the pulp. Once I cleaned it out, no more leaking. The pitcher that collects the juice also works great to keep the froth from going into your bottle. But I don’t throw the froth away and waste it, I put it in my Blendtec and add a banana, avocado and flaxseed, the unjuiceable fruits and veggies, and make a smoothie. Overall I am very happy with the Hamilton Beach Premium Juicer, especially for the price. I hope it will last a long time but I’m sure at some point the blade will get dull, hopefully I can purchase a new blade separately. I was also concerned about cleanup but it really isn’t a problem especially with the ingenious brush provided by Hamilton Beach to clean the blade. But if you over juice and don’t stop to clear the pulp it may leak out onto the base making clean up more tedious.

P.S. No smoking and No moving around the counter.

Happy juicing

This juicer is so easy to use, quiet, and also to clean. I had in the beginning made enough to last a while so I wouldn't have to clean it so often, but I've found that I prefer the juice when it's just made, and having to clean it each time is really no big deal. I was in the midst of a kitchen remodel and had a juice station made for myself ...loving my new healthy lifestyle. Extremely happy with this purchase.

I bought this strictly for juicing celery and it's my first extractor. I was concerned about the negative comments regarding it's "moving all around the counter." When I first used it, this thing purred like a kitten and got the job done. After about 3 uses, and midway through my celery run, I noticed the celery had a hard time going down and had to be persuaded by heavy pressure on the plunger Then it started the notorious "dancing" around the counter. I discovered the reason why and the solution. The strainer has small micro blades. When they become clogged they stop cutting. When they stop cutting and more pressure is applied, the strainer is no longer seated properly on the base, so it is off kilter and commences wobbling. What I did was I looked down the chute, I saw the clogged blades, unplugged it, took out the strainer rinsed it off and properly seated it on the base. Problem solved. Works like new...again. So don't apply undue pressure, don't force it and if you're cutting really coarse items, check the blades periodically and clean them as necessary. It now works perfectly fine and fast.

I did a lot of research and was surprised to find this affordable juicer on a lot of top juicer lists next to $150+ juicers. I initially thought juicing would be super expensive because I thought you would need a ton of fruits and vegetables to make a small amount of juice. I was wrong. The first photo is after only juicing 3 pieces of celery. To fill up one 16oz bottle, I used 3 pieces of celery, one small cucumber and two Granny Smith apples. It's an efficient juicer. The only downside I would say is that it's pretty loud but realistically it's only slightly louder than your average blender. Would definitely recommend for someone wanting to try out juicing.

i read a number of reviews that were less than glowing - - - frankly - - - some of the complaints are (at least for me just not true). some complain about the 'jumping around" - whereas the unit is light and I lightly place a hand on the top for caution the unit does NOT jump all around. some complain of the 'loud noise ' - it is no noisier than most any juicer. some complain of poor blades and poor separation of juice and pulp - I have not seen this so far (I have been using daily for only 14 days), but thus far the pulp is very dry which tells me a maximum amount of juice is being extracted. I am FULLY SATISFIED with the unit. A plus that I had not considered when purchasing is the wide mouth. this wide mouth is certainly a selling feature related to ease of use. easy clean up. 100% pleased with the purchase at 14 days and using daily. + + + + +

This works REALLY well. I base that on a couple of things: 1. This got at least 1/4 cup of juice out of a little orange that was about as old as I am, 2. The pulp from carrots, beets, and celery is so dry it's close to being sawdust. I will just run over things that came to mind as I used this constantly Saturday, Sunday, and today. I bought a bunch of fruits and veggie to juice stock up in the freezer.

SOUND:
Not nearly as loud as what I expected from some review. It is loud enough that I don't want to use it after anyone in my apartment has gone to bed, but not so loud that I won't use it for a couple of minutes at that time. I also find that putting a padded placemat underneath this works to quiet it down some.

POWER:
I had another (second-hand) juicer a few months ago that had an 800-watt motor. This one juices faster and leaves a much drier pulp. The first time I juiced some carrots and celery together, I was going to save some of the pulp for the extra fiber. That stuff was so dry that I didn't even bother. I will do the fiber thing later when i have more time.

CLEAN-UP:
I used the suggestion of inserting a plastic shopping bag in the pulp container so I didn't even have to rinse that out. Of the other parts, the only one that took some time to clean was the mesh bowl. That included cleaning brush came in real handy for helping that. I now know to soak the mesh bowl in some really warm and slightly soapy water while I am rinsing the other stuff, then cleaning it is a lot easier. I don't even bother putting the parts in the dishwasher.

SIZE:
This is, like all the other juicers I looked at, large enough that I needed to move things around in my tiny kitchen. However, I find that it fits nicely in the corner with my small coffeepot. If I didn't use it so often, it's lightweight enough that I could store it up top a shelf or somewhere else out of the way.

OVERALL:
Obviously, I will need to update as time goes on, but for the price, I am more than happy with this juicer. One day, I hope to be able to afford a masticating unit but this one is perfect for my current needs.

I bought the Hamilton Beach juicer because the reviews were more good than bad. My boyfriend and I have been using this juicer every day for almost 2 weeks (twice in one day for 2-3 of those days).... Let me tell you, I cannot be more happier. So far (LOL) It's worked perfectly. I recommend peeling fruits such as lemons because throwing it into the juicer may cause it to get spit back out. We put a plastic bag into the back end where the skin and remains come out through to speed up the cleaning process. The process between the start of juicing the items to turning off the sink from cleaning the machine parts takes--MAYBE five minutes.... Yes, I said 5 minutes. IF that. It's quite an easy clean up, with just rinsing and scrubbing one of the parts with the brush it comes with.

For the price, and for the fact this is my very first juicer i've purchased, i'm quite happy. For the price of 3 bottled juices i've been paying from juice bars, I have been able to make at least 6 days worth of juices of the same amount (for TWO people).

If you're skeptical, I'd go with this particular model juicer. It won't break your bank, and as i've said, I'M happy with it and am glad I made the decision to start juicing at home. I, in fact, look forward to it every morning. (:

UPDATE: Jan 14.... this juicer is still standing!!!!

I have been using this juicer for about a month now. I like it. I am sure there are better out there and I am sure there are worse. I will describe what I found and hopefully it'll help you.

1. The juicer consists of a cup with a cap (about 32 ounces can fit. The cap is pretty useless.

2. The shoot can fit a regular size orange

3. The brush helps clean the strainer A LOT!

4. Cleanup is mostly easy (will get into this more)

5. It will not operate if not locked in place with the metal bracket (good thing)

As far as operation. This is my first juicer so I cannot compare it, but it seems noisy. It also vibrates a lot. So much that it will turned itself. However, the juice is generally just that. Nothing really seeps through.

Cleanup is pretty fast with the 3-way brush. The only issue is when juice gets on the unit itself. Its hard to get into the tight spots. Also, cleaning the shoot (where the juice comes out), is not easy. You'll need a brush to get in.

I generally stay on low speed.

Bottom line, buy it. if you use it, it will work just fine. I am glad I did (so is my waist line).

I'm a novice juicer but I use this product daily to juice celery stalks. It amazes me how quickly it extracts the maximum amount of juice leaving very dry pulp. And the fact that it's so easy to use and to clean up is important to me. I haven't tried juicing any other fruit or vegetable with it, but for celery, it's fantastic.

I'm new to juicing, so this is a learning experience. This is a solid machine, well designed, gets most of the juice out of what I put through it, comes apart easily to clean, and fits back together without any hassle, reminding me of a child's puzzle. Just be sure to clean it right away, rinsing under cold water, so nothing can dry and get stuck in any little corners.

I could have given it five stars, but gave it four just because I don't know how to compare to "the best" - I am completely satisfied with it, though.

Maybe I could freeze the pulp and use it to add fiber when baking bread or muffins. Any ideas?

Retired, I expect this to outlast me. But I'll give it a challenge by using it to stay healthier!

Last thought - Now that I'm retired, I might take a trip to relax on the sunny sands of Hamilton Beach, Hmmm... where IS it? ;)

I just got this today and started juicing right away. I juiced kale, celery, spinach, blood oranges, navel oranges, strawberries, celery, cucumber, grapefruit and apples. I'm trying to mostly do green juices to get more veggies into my diet and I'm hoping to have a juice for breakfast or lunch every day. However, I am lazy so it needs to be quick and easy. I juiced while cooking dinner in the instant pot and then ate and then juiced some more. I started juicing at about 7 , took a dinner break of about 45 min and finished at 10pm including clean up and the interruptions of a toddler, pre teen and teen. Just being a mom and basically having everything take twice as long lol. Anyways, I got the recommended glass bottles from Amazon and I filled all 6 of them and used a tons of my ingredients up. There was a large amount of pulp left. I used a grocery bag as others had recommended for easier clean up. The only reason I knocked off a star is because it does not come with its own fill cup. I had to use a Tupperware that was short enough to fit under the spout but that allowed dripping and then I had to transfer that to the only thing I had with a spout , which is a teapot, so I could pour it in my glass bottles. So that was a little annoying and added to the clean up. I hope to make 6 bottles in one session every week. At mast its fun watching the veggies and fruit be obliterated! Oh and my fav green juice so far is kale, cucumber and apple. Not a fan of the celery or spinach in large quantities. I'm excited to try other combos. Oh and strawberries don't seem to juice well but it sure makes the juice a pretty color!

Edit 2/03/19: My husband and I made 6 bottles today and having his help to chop everything up made it go much faster. I increased it to 5 stars because I used my brain this time and got out one of my measuring cups with a spout and it fit under the spout perfectly and I was able to pour into the glass bottles with no mess. He wants to start drinking juice with me too so we should be getting more use our of this machine. This is probably the 3rd time I've used it since I bought it though. Green juices are so easy to make and throwing a couple apples or an orange in make them sweet. I usually do 1-1/2 cucumbers, a couple handfuls of spinach, a handful of kale, and then either 3 apples and an orange or just 4 apples. I know that's probably sweeter than most do but it makes drinking them an enjoyable experience. I've also done similar ratios and added things like ginger and lemon which gives it a nice zing if I'm in the mood.

This juicer is just about as good as can be expected for the price. Clean-up is easy, and that's good because it's rather messy. I usually end up with juice and pulp scattered around the counter from the process of running the pulp through a second time. I've posted a video below to show what I mean. In it I'm processing pineapple and orange juice. It bothers me that the pulp still has so much juice left in it that I'm unable to get out. But I wanted something cheap and I guess you can't have it all.

This juicer is exactly what I wanted and needed. I use it every day to make some fresh vegetable and fruit juice, and I'm having a lot of fun trying different combinations. The product provides a cleaning brush with very stiff bristles, and it is very helpful in removing the pulp from the strainer.

The parts and easy to put together and pull apart for quick and easy cleaning. The juicer is a bit loud, but that is to be expected with the power this machine has. I have had no problems with any of the parts, and I've juiced apples, broccoli, beets (be careful of the juice as it stains very quickly), carrots, cucumbers, chard, oranges (with the peel), limes, strawberries, and pineapple.

The only draw back that I've seen is that because the machine is so powerful, when I drop some food in the chute while the blades are going, some pieces fly back out. They aren't big pieces, and I honestly don't mind. My only concern is when I'm juicing beets because the juice that comes flying out can stain very easily. This isn't really a drawback for me. I just wear t-shirt or an apron.

I do use a small trash bag for the pulp collector to keep that clean. It's one less thing to hand wash/put in the dishwasher, and it makes taking out the trash easy.

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor

Pros:

Inexpensive - under $50

Efficient - extracted pulp is not watery

Easy assemble/disassemble - for cleaning

Cons:

A bit loud - 90 to 100 dB

Overall I’m quite pleased with this juicer’s performance. I read reviews and watched videos before deciding to purchase the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor.

Juiced: Carrots, cucumbers, beets, celery, tomatoes, apples, pears, broccoli (not recommended - too over powering taste), peaches, plums, and grapes. Looking forward to trying ginger root and other fruits and veggies.

Have not tried squishy fruit (bananas) or leafy items (kale).

The juicing process literally takes seconds once your fruit/veg selection is washed. Be sure to stir the juice before removing the “head” (foamy top). Most of that mixes quite well and doesn’t taste any different.

For best results use a veggie bag for the waste bin for easy clean-up. If you refrigerate the bag of pulp, you can reuse it 3-4 times before throwing it away or adding it to your compost pile.

Likewise, for best results clean all removable parts as soon as you’re done juicing. The plunger, top lid and strainer outer sleeve clean easily with running water. The strainer is just a tad more intense. Use the included brush to FIRST gently scrub the strainer’s outer mesh under running water, then rinse the inside, then gently scrub the inside and rinse again. The entire cleaning process takes less than 5 minutes.

Some folks recommend soaking items in water if you cannot clean them until later - I agree.

As for the sound - it’s pretty darn loud. 90 decibels just to start the machine and up to 100 dB depending on what hard fruit/veg you are juicing. However, like I mentioned earlier - juicing takes under a minute.
