The base on this is HUGE, making it bigger than I needed and harder to store, but it works great! Recently made a recipe for homemade vodka sauce for penne and this pureed the steaming hot sauce perfectly. Just know that this blender takes up a lot of space... Even though my previous blender still worked, it was time for a new one as the old one wasn't quite mixing the ingredients for smoothies. So I bought the Kitchen Aid Pro Line mixer based on reviews. I bought my blender 1 months ago and I'm so happy that I did! I've used it for making smoothies and its cuts through frozen berries and ice in mere seconds. The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is the noise - quite loud on higher settings, including ice crushing. Also, the self-cleaning function seemed like a good idea but does not work as well for cleaning the lid - given that you have to rinse the blender out before running the self-clean cycle, I find it just as easy to manually wash it all or put it in the dishwasher. A little on the heavy side if you don't have a permanent home on the countertop and have to move it around to use it.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my new blender. KitchenAid has never let me down! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Works quite well, and is Very Powerful. It doesn't show up in most of the product review websites because it has the word Pro in the name, and so they view it like a commercial blender instead of a consumer model. But, it Should be compared with Vitamix and Blendtec blenders, because it is in the same class or better. It's a little bit loud, but that's to be expected from a blender this powerful. If you want a powerful blender that will handle all of the tuff ingredients and last for many years, The KitchenAid Pro Line Series Blender with Thermal Control Jar is the one to buy. And, the 10 year Warranty, gives you the assurance that they have confidence in their product.
