Mr. Coffee BVMC-ECM170 20-Ounce Steam Espresso Maker with Frothing Wand Reviews

A complete failure after 6 months daily use while the brew/steam switch gradually failed. Had the rating choice offered zero that's what this product deserved.

I bought this machine about 3 months ago. Within the first week, the plastic cover of the frothing wand broke. Other than that it worked well until I was in the middle of making an espresso and the lid to the water reservoir POPPED! The rubber seal tore and it sounded like a firecracker went off! Steam and espresso went everywhere.. Scared me half to death. Glad I wasnt standing too closely or I would have gotten hurt.. Be careful when using this product.

Mine... like many of the other reviewers had experienced... was great until the plastic wand cover broke. This only took about a month. FYI... if it was made with a better material then I could have given a 5 star rated review! No point in giving me the same useless response all the other reviewers had given because had they listened at all at Mr. Coffee 2 years ago then they would not have sold me the same cheap 1 star product.

I've had this machine for over a year and use it daily. The dial was always difficult to turn but extra pressure would get it started. Until today. I turned it on and it snapped off in my hand. The part that broke was just plastic. Terrible choice for constant use and very likely would have lasted longer if made with a stronger material (metal?). So disappointed. I inherited an older Mr. Coffee espresso maker from my brother and he had used it for years. I had it for at least five years so felt buying another Mr. Coffee was a safe bet. I guess they don't make them like they use to!

I got this machine as a birthday gift and I loved it and would use it twice a day but then after about two weeks the machine just stopped working. I have owned mine for less than three weeks and a few days ago the frothing wand cover broke when I removed it for cleaning. I can't find any replacement parts online either. Additionally, the espresso it produces mostly tastes like burnt coffee and doesn't have the golden foam on top that espresso should have.

I made coffee four times and then the plastic wand cover cracked making the unit inoperable. I need a replacement wand cover or the unit is useless.

Poor quality plastic on the Frothing Wand, it breaks into multiple pieces after being used. They need to supply extra wands in each box if they aren't going to correct the problem.

I received this expresso machine for a Birthday present. Makes a small cup of expresso but it will do. What i was disappointed with is that with my second time using it, the black steam wand covering melted and broke away. I know I can steam without it, but why did it break off and get real soft?

I bought this 1 week ago and was so excited about the frother!! The major problem is the wand cover broke after the 3rd use and the frother doesn't work without the cover. No replacement parts online. It sounds like they don't have replacement parts available right now. Why do they sell products that are not tested first?

To start off, I did receive this espresso maker for free but this review is 100% my own honest opinion. This Mr. Coffee Espresso Maker is a nice basic unit that does its job well in making a quick delicious espresso. The instructions could be more detailed but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to use and does more than you think this little unit could in speed and frothing. The speed is the main thing I think about the machine as once you set it up and turn it on, it quickly goes to work and in no time you have a quality espresso without the high price of the coffee shop. A must for anyone looking for an entry level but efficient and quality espresso maker. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
