This convection microwave effectively combines the best of both worlds to bring to you the freshest dishes. It packs a ton of features under its hood. The unit measures just 21.8” x 21.5” x 13” (WDH) and comes with a 13.6” turntable. We love the large-sized turntable – you’ll love it too. The features you’ll find on this Toshiba convection microwave include sensor cooking function, an auto menu for quick cooking, reheating function, one-touch start buttons, etc. The auto menu is located just above the keypad buttons on the right side of the unit. Available presets are the auto bake, favorite, warm hold, auto defrost, time defrost, sensor cook, auto roast, popcorn, and sensor reheat. There are also three buttons that help you switch modes between convection oven, microwave or a combination of both. We love the numeric keypad. It’s responsive and can be used to increase the temperature of the unit. There are 10 power levels on this unit and the unit requires just 1000W of power to work. Internally, there’s a grill rack for use when you select convection mode. An LED light brightly illuminates the interior of the unit when the door is opened. As for opening the door, it’s a breeze and doesn’t shift the microwave. Besides, you can easily open the door of the unit with gloves on.

My Toshiba EM131A5C-BS Microwave Oven is a week shy of its 3-month birthday. I wanted to enjoy it, because I imagine I'll have it for years, but its drawbacks outweigh its benefits for me and my family. Positives: + We LOVE being able to turn off the alarm; the silent setting is wonderful. + It runs quietly, especially compared to the creaky old unit it replaced. + It quickly heats water in a 4-cup Pyrex measuring cup. Negatives: - This requires more room than my larger old microwave. This unit requires 3" of empty space on its left side, 3" behind the unit, and 12" above it, so I can't use it under my top cabinets. To make matters worse, the right side should have nothing sitting beside it. It's like having a monolith in your kitchen ~ and if you have a white kitchen, it's a dark hole of a monolith, because this doesn't come in white. - The metal casing feels a bit flimsy. - This Toshiba's seams feel unfinished and even a little rough. I notice it every time my hand closes around the door handle. - This doesn't heat evenly. I've paid close attention, and experimented with lots of foods in bowls, on plates, in serving dishes. It just doesn't heat food evenly. - There are so many control buttons that they're crowded together, making it hard to hit the right small box. - Very few of the control buttons are useful to my family, so they're just visual clutter. - The advantage of being able to turn off the alarm is negated because the door can't be closed quietly. It clicks shut so loudly that it sounds as if I'd slammed it, which I never do. It can wake a sleeping child. Not helpful. All in all, this was a disappointing purchase.

I got this Oct. 10. I still don't know how to defrost anything easily nor use the Sensor Reheat reasonably. There are all kinds of choices to make to reheat something. Something I did easily on my old microwave. Stick it in, press start and the microw. did all the thinking and out it came, nice and hot. This one: "Press the pad for one of the Sensor Menu functions (Sensor Reheat, Frozen Pizza, Frozen Entree', Potato, Rice, Veggie). An "SC-" number, "Auto" and "SENS." will appear in the display. Example: If "Rice" is pressed, "SC-5" will display. Press start......." Potato is "SC-4". Those foods are your only choices. There must be a reason. What about anything else? I feel I need a code breaker. And then, defrost. "Press 1lb Defrost. "1.0", "DEF." and "LBs" will appear in the display. Press start....." That's the least weight choice. What about a half bag of grocery store peas. That's less than a pound. I've put a scale out next to the microw. Also, the manual is out next to it and referred to constantly. Surely, there could be fewer numbers and code words. Now the microwave is like my crazy, over done phone. Otherwise, it cooks fine, looks fine, works.

Bought this microwave 4 months ago, after researching numerous different microwave, on numerous difference sites. I needed to replace my Sharp microwave that finally needed replaced after using it for TEN YEARS. I wanted to replace it with the exact same Sharp microwave but it wasn't available anywhere. So I chose this one bcuz Toshiba is supposed to be a good brand. Right? We've only had this microwave for FOUR MONTHS (bought on Amazon in June) and tonight I turned it on. Immediately heard a pop and saw a spark. Tried tuning it on again and it seemed fine....except when it turned off - my food was still frozen. I'm a little beyond irritated bcuz it's NOT unreasonable to expect a microwave to last longer than FOUR MONTHS. I'm calling the company tomorrow. I'll update.

A lot of the presets are useless. Like warming rice - really, 20-plus minutes? Major disappointment is that we thought, when our circa 1990 microwave died, we were upgrading from a 1000 to an 1100. Uh, no. This takes longer for the same jobs. Not the most intuitive trying to use some of the features, but a lot of that has to do with what one is used to. For its footprint and price, it contains all the basic functions (defrost, power level settings, etc) and is a fully functional if not totally intuitive gadget. No regrets on the purchase.

So we dont use a microwave a lot. The wifey has used it to heat coffee but I protested too much about how the coffee tastes like microwave. I don't even know what that means. Anyway, we bought the Alexa amazon microwave a while back using the logic that we don't use it a lot. That microwave is tiny, not very powerful and even less useful. So after a year of that we switched to this microwave. What a difference it makes. I can't tell you all of the functions or ins and outs of what this does. All I can tell you is that it heats everything perfectly well, as compared to a lower power microwave. The one touch function where you poke the button and it begins heating is glorious. The easy clean inside is brightly lit and so much easier to get into. Also the microwave space is what makes us all happy. It's great being able to stuff something large in a microwave again. We haven't been able to do that in a year. Point is, you buy something cheap and you find out why it is cheap, then spend even more to replace it. This is the microwave we should have bought the first time around.

I recognize I chose the Warehouse option... but it was supposed to be in very good condition. The Toshiba box was literally shredded and had MANY holes cut in it. The styrofoam was in tiny fragments and pellets. Upon removing the microwave from the box, I noted a couple very minor dents on the top, and the plastic frame was pulled away from the door. I have NO CLUE how that could happen. I also didn’t see a way to fix it, other than have the door replaced. The $18 discount, for a very broken microwave, was definitely not worth it. Obvious return. I don’t know who inspected this at the “Warehouse,” but they did a terrible job!

I am at a total loss as to why this Toshiba microwave oven has five star reviews in the 70% range. I know five stars are often given for ‘arrived on time!’ or ‘easy to un-box!’ or my fav, ‘great shinny finish, can’t wait to plug it in, five stars!!!’. But really, even those can’t explain why this mediocre appliance is rated so high. Maybe some consumer expectations in this price range are just incredibly low? Or they’ve never owned a quality microwave previously? Our tragic disappointment was delivered right side up on our front door steps, ‘Toshiba’ in three inch block letters visible almost half a block away. In other words, ‘Santa was just here!’ or ‘free microwave oven’, take your pick. My expectations weren’t on a high plane when I noticed the lack of a ninety degree plug, for installations where clearance is a typical concern. Nope, Toshiba cleverly made this one project from the wall outlet almost four inches including the ½” semi-rigid power cord. Very nice. Aside from my initial misgivings, the thing actually looked good perched in the cabinet opening above the countertop. I thought I’d try out the popcorn function first and hit the 3.0 button with a three ounce bag of PopSecret centered on the turntable. A minute forty rolled by on the display, the bag looked ready to explode and the oven was still blasting away. Every instinct told me to shut the thing off, but I just had to let the looming disaster play itself out. It did ten seconds later. The oven became silent again as my nostrils began to fill with that one and only aroma burnt popcorn has. Yep the core of the bag was an ugly brown while the periphery of kernels were a sick tan color. Great, I reached for the Doritos. The next AM, wifey decides to heat the dog’s b’fast and punches the 30 sec button. It would have been heated just fine in our prior microwave, but was stone cold in this one. Hmmmm. A minute and a half later it was at the expected temperature… barely warm. The one liter water heat test I did an hour later confirmed my suspicions about the power level. It was operating at just over 800 watts, not even close to the advertised 1,100. It is on it’s way back to Amazon. Avoid this thing… yeah it sorta works, but…

Then the connector for one of the thermostats went kaput and burnt up. Haven't figured out how to fix it exactly (the piece is easy enough to find, but that mounting screw isn't budging and I can't find the exact wire/connector I need for it), but when I e-mailed them for support I got no response. Either way, these things happen, buy the warranty - because you are likely on your own. And realistically this started at about 10 months (wire burning smell a few times), but just finished its run a week ago. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to electronics, so if anyone knows the exact wire/receptacle to use to connect two thermostats, do tell haha.

If you, like me, are looking at this oven because of it's "sound off" feature (to keep from waking a napping child. etc) forget about it. Sure, the buzzer won't sound when the cooking is done, but the door opening and especially closing will wake the dead. It runs loud as well. Another negative for me, but maybe not for you, is handle-open door. I'm coming from a Sharp microwave that had a push-button door. If you are holding something in both hands it's easy to push the button with a finger or a thumb. With this you have to have at least one hand free to open the door. That was the first thing I noticed. Also, my Sharp was a 2.0 cu. ft. and, with this Toshiba being 1.3 cu. ft. I was hoping to save space and for it to be a lot smaller. The Sharp was wider, but this one was almost as tall. How many "tall" things do you put in your microwave? Anyway, maybe good for you but not for me. It's headed back...

Update: it has been 4 months now and this microwave is still working great. I am now used to all the presets and how the microwave functions and I can say that I really like it. At first I thought it might be a little too powerful but after using it frequently, I really like it. Original review: I read a bunch of Amazon reviews before picking this microwave. It seems there are equal amounts of good and bad reviews for almost every model out there which surprised me. Couldn't find any model that people just raved about so I crossed my fingers and just hoped that this microwave I picked worked straight out of the box. Lucky for me, it did! I have now been using it for a little over a month. So there are lots of pluses and a couple of minuses with this microwave. One of the pluses is that I found it easy to use. It's pretty self-explanatory and the buttons are fairly easy to figure out. However there is also a minus coming up. Kind of a big one. I think it is relatively easy to set the timer for the wrong amount of time. I figured that out after I just about set a piece of cornbread with butter on fire and smoke came billowing out of my microwave. Yes, facepalm. Not one of my best moments. I like to think that I am pretty tech-savvy and meant to hit 20 seconds and instead I hit the 2 which set it automatically for two minutes and didn't realize it. You actually have to hit the clock time button to bypass the presets. If you aren't used to this it is easy to accidentally mess it up. I also didn't double check it and well let's just say I had every window open in my place for the next four hours and fans running. Smelled like burnt popcorn. Lol. Not my most stellar moment. Which brings me to the next good and bad thing. This is a fairly powerful microwave. I think actually it may be a little too powerful for my liking. Yes it does cook things very quickly but the downside is... Wait for it....that it cooks things very quickly. Ha. Basically, I think that it is easy to overcook your food. After getting used to it it hasn't been too bad but I definitely feel that I need to keep my eye on it instead of just forgetting it. That may just be because of the cornbread thing but just saying, I am not comfortable just leaving it to do is thing yet. The last thing I'll mention is it is not a quiet microwave. I live alone so it really doesn't matter to me but if you're looking for something that isn't very noisy this is definitely not the microwave for you. The door opening and closing is really loud and even though you can turn off the beep I think just the mechanics of the machine will keep this from being the ideal choice for you. It is pretty loud when it is running too and occasionally makes a weird crackling noise. When this happens inevitably it makes one eyebrow go up. I look at the microwave for a moment, because it typically doesn't last very long, and ponder whether I am really supposed to be hearing that type of noise from said microwave. Still not sure. Anywho, over all this model isn't too bad. However honestly if I had to choose over again, I think I might get one with a lower wattage. Good luck!

This was a replacement for my Panasonic Microwave that after years of use was given up. I should have stuck to Panasonic. While the Toshiba is better priced, there is a reason for the price difference. Frist thing we noticed was that the keypad does not have a second option and the unit comes on as soon as you press any of the numbers on the keypad. Tried using making popcorn using the “Popcorn” button and only half of the kernels had popped. We have tried several brands on multiple occasions with similar results. While heating any type of food, the dish that the food is in gets super-heated, while the food at time is ice cold. I normally don’t write reviews on the products, but I felt compelled to warn other prospective buyers about this product. Not sure how this unit has 4+ star rating. I would not recommend buying this unit to anyone.

I love this microwave...that is, until now. Purchased in Dec. 2017 so it's not quite 2 1/2 yrs old. It's always been easy to use. 1100 watts is more than enough for my uses. Love the defrost features & Love the black stainless. However, in the last month or so I've noticed some weird malfunctions happening. I guess maybe I sometimes press the buttons too fast, which has caused the unit to just stop. Display goes out...everything stops. Have to unplug & plug in again & I guess the machine resets. Last week, I set the unit for 30 sec. When it beeped, I opened the door to remove the cup of tea & it started up again, turntable spinning and all...WITH THE DOOR OPEN! I closed the door & reopened it...machine started up again!! So I unplugged it..waited a few minutes & plugged it back in. Problem solved. Today, I used it again to warm up some tea. After the beeping stopped, I opened the door, and again, the unit went on, turntable spinning around again! I don't think a running microwave with the door open is a very safe thing (ya think?). So one last time, I unplugged the unit, waited & plugged it in again. Problem still exists. A running microwave with an open door. So it runs, stops at the appropriate time, (30 sec., 1 min, etc.) But starts up again when I open the door. NOT GOOD! I think the machine should have lasted much longer than 2 1/2 yrs! I would love to reorder it, but am afraid to do so for obvious reasons. NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE!! Will see if Toshiba has an upgraded model. Just be on the look-out, 'cause it's very dangerous to be exposed to microwaves!!

This is my second posting...I generally like the machine BUT it always goes blank with a continuous beep and the clock goes blank whenever you try to get it to start . It finally stops beeping and with clock at 0:00 you can hit the appropriate keys and it will work just fine. This seems like some type of electronics problem. I notified Toshiba back in June (when new) but no feedback. It now periodically seems like it is working but doesn't heat. I have to unplug and replug then it usually works. I contacted Toshiba twice but they never acknowledged my notes (great customer service - not). I am going to buy a different machine. This was a waste of money...I can't recommend.

Worst purchase ever!! We ordered this microwave the first time and it came to our house. we cleaned the old microwave and brought it to the curb putting a sign on it that said free still working. Then to our horror when we when we plugged in the new Toshiba microwave, nothing happened. No electrical current it all ran through it. We called Toshiba who said return it to Amazon. So weboxed it up and returned it the same day and retrieved our 15-year-old microwave From the curbside. New we re-ordered a replacement same machine waited another week for it to arrive & received it last night. Opened the box this morning, plugged it in this one receives electricity, but the Start Button doesn’t work. Now we are talking with Toshiba’s customer assistance and once again they told us to pack it up and return it to Amazon. This is incredible I’ve never seen anything more ridiculous in my life. Heavy microwave big, looks good but literally does not function in any way shape or form The worst buying experience ever! Toshiba has no answers other than return it to Amazon. Do not buy this microwave, unless you’re willing to order three or four of them in hopes that one of them might work And you enjoy and boxing multiple gigantic microwaves and hauling them back-and-forth to the shipping store.

I've used dozens of microwave ovens over my lifetime with no problem. Never did I have to consult the user manual to figure out how to just microwave something for a few seconds or minute or so. This one I can't figure out how to use at all. When I plug it in and close the door, it lights up and starts running. But it isn't heating anything. Hitting the "STOP" button does nothing. It just keeps going. Only opening the door stops it from running. Doing a timed cook it does nothing. The number of seconds shows up when you punch it in, hitting start gets it going, but the seconds don't count down. The item comes out cold like there were no microwaves. I think it must be broken. Also, I could not figure out any way to turn off the inside oven light. As long as the microwave is plugged in, the light stays on. I could not find any instructions in the manual of how to turn the oven light off.

Have you ever found yourself cringing in terror when your microwave makes that awful, terrible, horribly loud never ending beeeeeeppppp x 5 when your food is done. You know, the one that wakes your sleeping baby at 5 am when you’re getting ready for work. Listen up, this microwave DOESN'T do that! It has volume on and off. Just hold the number 8 down and bam! It’s gone! Our old microwave died so we bought your standard $70 one and I have never hated a microwave more in my life! So we found this one online and ordered it. OMG! I love it so much! No more beeping, it’s sleek and strangely attractive in my kitchen. The light inside is super bright and I can see my food easily as it cooks, in case it’s one I’m watching for overflowing. It is rather fancy and I haven’t figured out all the buttons and special settings yet but I will! Long review short, if you freaking hate how freaking loud and obnoxious the average microwave is you need to buy this one. It does all the things without the horrendous noise. I know you parents are feeling me here!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  The good: It heats things up more quickly than my 700 watt microwave did. The bad: 1. Turntable: Our microwave arrived a couple of days ago. First we noticed that the turntable was stopping and starting. It makes a clunky noise. I have a video of this but cannot upload more than one video per Amazon. 2. Electronics freeze up: Electric panel seems to freeze and make a long beep that won't stop until we unplug the unit. This has happened 3 times. It makes me nervous. 3. Noise: The door is incredibly loud! You can hear it across the house. The video doesn't do it justice. There is no way to close the door quietly. I don't know how a door could even be more loud! I emailed support and haven't heard back so I'm returning it. I had high hopes for this because of the reviews! I'm bummed I have to return it.

This Microwave is TERRIBLE and I have contacted Toshiba about it right after I got it. So far, it works ok but it makes loud banging noise when using it. It sounds like tennis shoes banging around in a dryer and lately it is now shorting out so I have to unplug it and then replug it back in for it to start again. I really wanted to have it replaced but they thought I should only do that if it stopped working completely. Not happy with this purchase at ALL!!!

I did some homework comparing microwaves. This microwave is smaller than my 35yr old Panasonic that finally bite the dust so I wasn't sure if I'd like it. I was totally surprised... bigger isn't always better! The turntable is the same size, its just not as tall inside but still, everything fits inside. Its much easier to operate... just have to change old habits. Looks great on my cart or my counter. Makes a little noise but not bothersome. Best bang for the buck!

All I can say is Wow! This thing is nice. It looks awesome and works excellent. I love the color scheme and functionality. It's easy to use. I am in aw at how nice it looks sitting on a counter. If you are looking for a counter top replacement microwave this is the one!

Brought this microwave to replace one that capped out on me. I don't even remember the manufacturer. Yes, it was that cheap. This one although not as cheap, it wasn't too pricey either. I connected it to an outlet and placed it where my old microwave used to be. My lady made sure she cleaned the inside and outer surface first. Then I promptly heated up some leftovers for about 2 minutes. My food came out piping hot. After a few months of use, I'm not sure if the power level Is still what it used to be. Food takes somewhat longer now to reheat. Multiple times I've put food that would normally take two minutes to heat up out the microwave and only part of would be warm. I find myself warming up the food a minute or two longer, resulting in food that's too hot. I wish I didnt have to do that. ? Until it stops kicking I will keep using it. I guess there's alot worse problems to have.

Now that I have come to the realization that I am a grumpy old woman, who is set in her ways, and like things the old way, I am going to give a more actuate and more fair review of this product. This was an excellent purchase, but It took me a long time to get used to the controls because I had had my old microwave for nearly 20 years, but now, I love the controls. It allows a one button push for 1-6 minutes. Pushing the start button by itself gives me 30 seconds. How hard can that be? Why was I complaining? (BECAUSE I’m grumpy?) I still stand by my statement about the popcorn button, though. Everybody in the popcorn eating world knows that popcorn takes 2 to 2 min 30 sec, depending on your microwave! I’ve change this from 3 stars to 4, downgrading only because of the popcorn button. (What were they thinking?) I’m not real happy with the controls. The cook time button must be pushed to cook for less than a minute. I can’t just push in the seconds and let it go. If I push the 1, it is for 1 minute, the 2 is fo 2 min, etc. Not really easy to heat a cup of coffee. (Admit it, that’s what we do with our microwaves!). The popcorn setting half cooks the bag of popcorn, so it needs the time set to 2 min and 20 seconds to fully pop the bag. The clock is easy to set and I love the handle. I relied on the other reviews for this purchase since we are isolating with covid and I couldn’t go to the store to see it, but it wasn’t my favorite purchase.

We loved it until it started having strange issues: (1) plastic control panel bubbled; (2) I prefer to cook at lower than full power level because you can heat without really cooking but sometimes it simply won't turn off without being unplugged! (3) other times it simply doesn't work--have to unplug, then replug, then it works. This can be tricky since it's on a shelf above the counter. Called in on my warranty because all happened when only about 6 months old. They sent a refund check rather than a replacement. Still using with periodic issues. I would not recommend this oven.

First microwave sent to me: With my hand holding the door opened, I had a little weight to it, the microwave kicked on! Notice this by accident. Then I duplicated it every time I push the door down, with barely any force and it would turn on. The second one that came in, the microwave turned on as soon as I plugged it in, without touching anything. Pushing the buttons didn't turn it off. That was enough, returned and bought something else.

...I can't really say anything about performance yet. But it arrived with a big honking dent on the top edge on the side near controls. While I plan on keeping it (I don't have the strength to haul it up and down stairs and I can't be certain that one of my condo neighbors will be around to help) anyway and in general, I am not about appearance, I would suggest taking a look at a product before shipping it out in that state. I tested it on a cup of tea and it certainly heats quickly and evenly, so I think we are all good. Just...check for dents next time, okay????

On the up side I like the oven and the price. It is not completely intuitive but you get used to it reasonably quickly. Overall I'd be happy with this if the light hadn't started flickering. It is annoying (especially when it is dark). I'd rather it went out completely. It does not have a bulb. It has a small circuit board with an LED on it. I can't find it anywhere online. Since many others have commented on this, I'll give the specifics I found in case it helps in the future. I called the number in the manual and was told the part number I need is Midea 17470000A03139. They said a technician would need to repair it. They are out of stock for several months . They couldn't tell me the price. It is almost a year and a half old. So it is out of warranty. Unfortunately, the Midea website shows a box. So it is hard to tell what the part is. When I looked at my microwave, the assembly says YHW01, the circuit board says E335787. Good luck.

We did a fair amount of research on a replacement microwave and decided on this one for several reasons. It had to fit on specific shelf, minimum of 1000 watts, one -touch start and no annoying beeps. This microwave meet all the criteria and and we really liked all the features but after a week we noticed it was not heating quite as well as our old 1000 watt microwave. So I tested it using the 1 liter of water temperature rise procedure and I was surprised it came back at 700 Watts. I repeated the test and came back with the same results. I also used the same test procedure on the neighbors microwaves and they tested at their rated power levels. I assumed I had a defective unit and got a very quick replacement for it. So the first thing I did with the replacement unit was to run the power test and this new unit tested at 770 Watts vs the 1100 stated on the box. I'm not sure why these two units were so under powered but I was not going to go through the trouble of ordering a third unit and decided to continue searching for another model. If you get one of these make sure it meets your power expectations.

I just threw out my last microwave after an astounding 40-year run! I kid you not. In 1979, it was a top end SAMSUNG I bought from a neighbor who no longer needed it. But to the product at hand, I chose this Toshiba model for it's brand recognition and quality. The 1100 watts gives me plenty of power to play with. In fact, surprising power! Toshiba's 1100 watts of today exceeds in performance, in my opinion, the 1500 watt rating of my old unit. It's scary effective, and apparently a best seller. Instructions for use are a tiny bit complicated, though well documented. And only Four Stars for the clunky, bang-shut door when closing.

I searched many, many options before buying this one. The reason I bought it was because it was one of very few freestanding microwaves that has a handle. My kids use it the most and didn’t want a push button. I hate the boxy, bulky look of the handle, but I guess I knew that going in. The other key function we wanted was the quick, one touch buttons where you get 1 minute pressing the one, 2 minutes for the two button, etc. A good microwave should be easy and intuitive to use. Whenever I’ve tried to use anything but the basic functions, I can’t get them to work. Just touching the button doesn’t work. There’s some magic combination of buttons that you need. And then you need to remember what setting a button does. Our turntable shattered exactly one month after purchase, rendering it useless. We have no idea why or how. I tried contacting the manufacturer online and my submission kept erroring. I tried registering for the warranty and it wouldn’t accept it. I looked up buying a replacement and couldn’t find one on the manufacturer website. I looked on Amazon and probably could have found one, but they were $30+ dollars. I happened to just have recycled my old one, including the turntable. I was able to get the turntable back and it’s basically the same size. It’s not very quiet and seems to be quite glitchy with the power, like it’s going at higher power then turns down or something. There is also a panel on the inside that is probably a vent or something. It had cardboard over it. I started taking it off thinking I forgot to when unpacking it. Nope. Turns out it’s supposed to be there? I went through the entire manual and couldn’t find any reference to it, not even on the unit diagram. Once I realized it wasn’t coming off easily, I realized it wasn’t supposed to come off. Why would they use cardboard for a permanent piece of the unit? Maybe I should rip the rest of it off. I kind of want to break it for an excuse to get a different one. It’s very basic and does heat food. But it’s not anywhere close to my old one.

I'm very happy with this microwave. Two things I was disappointed by: a) the cover on the buttons within only a month of owning has warped a little just from pushing the buttons. b) the door didn't line up properly from straight out of the box. Overall this is a great product and I love the feature to turn off the noise. I didn't realize how much I found the beeping of microwaves annoying until I turned it off on this one and appreciated the quite. That wasn't something on my list that I cared about before I bought, but now it will be. I've used for about 4 months just about every day. I primarily use for thawing meats, heating up leftovers, making oatmeal. Only used for popcorn once so far. I have not tried out all the features available.

What can I say, I bought this on 12/13/2018. It's now 12/5/2019 and I just brought in a replacement microwave from my doorstep. The plastic coating started peeling off the numbers in a matter of months. A week ago, it started to making an awful racket and we believe it's the turntable. Anyway, pathetic. The real shame is that it's yet another thing that will end up in our landfills.

November 27th 2019 this is the worst microwave ever. I am pissed off that I threw the Box away. Do not buy this microwave. It takes forever to heat and if food doesn't stay hot it gets cold very quick. A waste of money.

I hadn't bought a Microwave in decades, but recently relocated to an apartment that didn't have one. I wanted something mid-sized, powerful and black. I struggled with the decision believe it or not. I usually read a few reviews, weed out the lunatics and make a reasonably informed decision, but this one took a day or two. A microwave isn't the easiest thing to send back and my local Walmart didn't even have this one in stock. Given a choice, I'd almost always order through Amazon so I don't have to chase down the item at a big box store. Once I could not lay my hands on it without a lot of work, I came back to Amazon and just ordered the thing. It had good reviews and it had bad reviews. A lot of them. I finally decided many of them were old, I had some pretty fair experiences with Toshiba in the past and took a chance many of the problems I saw in some reviews were either flukes or had been corrected. So far so good. I'm not cooking a turkey in the thing, but it reheats pasta, sandwiches, chili and whatever else like a charm. It looks great, is quiet and affordable. I'm only 3 or 4 weeks in, but I'd buy it again based on what I can see so far. I figure if I get two or three years out of it I'll have scored. I remember having a massive Sharp in the 80's & 90's and the thing performed like a champ, but I need an attractive appliance and I could find anything I liked as much as this Toshiba. I didn't consider them a staple of cooking appliances, but many of the household names just didn't have an appealing, nicely priced and or well reviewed product. I took a chance here and I don't regret it. If I jumped the gun on the five star review so be it, but it's doing the job and looks like a million bucks to date. Good luck shoppers.

The last thing I want to do is leave home and shop for a microwave oven. I don't really want to spend much time doing it from my home computer. Researching appliances bores my pretty quickly. Alas my old Kenmore microwave bit the dust. I had no choice. The Toshiba presented the same physical dimensions and cooking wattage as the old Kenmore. Like the old Kenmore, the Toshiba has a handle for opening the door not a button. That's what I wanted. With boredom setting in, I pulled the trigger for the $99.00 black and stainless steel Toshiba 1100 watt microwave oven. Within a day and a half UPS delivered the oven to my porch. The new Toshiba presents a typical button layout and functions as expected. It does seem to warm things quicker than the old 1100 watt Kenmore. The old Kenmore microwave oven lasted for over ten years hopefully the Toshiba will do the same. Amazon simplified this rather mundane process. I am pleased.

This is a little piece of junk. I purchased it in April 2019 and am already replacing it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes the light inside comes on and sometimes it doesn’t. Now the light inside flashes every time I program a cook time.

This item arrived totally trashed. Big dent in the bottom, wouldn't even sit level. The door was hanging, big dent in the top and one side. I didn't dare even plug it in. I returned it for a full refund. What a disaster.

We bought this microwave when we moved to a new house a little over a year ago. It worked great! Then a couple of days ago the interior light went out. It still works, but you can't see what's going on while cooking anymore. I called Toshiba about a replacement light and was informed that no replacement light was available and that I would have to buy a new microwave. It was so inexpensive to begin with I should have known it wouldn't last.

This oven could be perfect with the exception of one extremely significant design flaw: The rotational timing of the turntable is not in sync with any of the timing presets. I use it to reheat my coffee several times per day and it is very annoying that the handle almost always ends up point to the back of the oven instead of the front. Every microwave I've owned in the past 40 years rotated at exactly 6 RPM's, which also equates to precisely one revolution every 10 seconds — but this Toshiba rotates at approximately 4.61 RPM's — which equates to about one revolution every 12 or 13 seconds. I use the words 'about' and 'approximately' because the rotational speed is slightly different every time, depending on which direction the turntable begins its rotation cycle, CW or CCW. Toshiba must have received a super deal on these turntable motors, because what other logical explanation could they possibly have for ever using them in a microwave oven? Other than this huge design screw-up—this oven deserves 5 stars.

I wish I could still return this. Biggest frustration is you can't heat anything while using the kitchen timer feature. I need to time other food while heating or melting stuff in the microwave. You have to clear your timer before you can heat anything... this is 2019... my microwave from 2010 did this! There is a lag when touching the button and the microwave registering the button pushed. Steam gets inside the door. Very poor quality, it says 1000 watts, but does not heat like my last microwave did. Wish I would have bought a different one.

POWER LEVEL randomly drops from default of 100% power, to a lower power level while cooking, producing uncooked food. Amazon is aware of the defect and should not be selling this unit! Resetting the power level does not fix the problem. The only way to temporarily solve the issue is to unplug the unit, which resets the software. Sad that the defect ruins such a fine looking unit.

This worked great for the first few weeks....and then, suddenly one day, it began making an extremely loud vibration noise within 5 seconds of operation on ANY setting. It still, however, works. I need to contact the manufacturer, but if it wasn't for that noise, I'd give it a high rating

Very quiet compared to the little 700W Revel microwave I used for 5 years before this and obviously more powerful and spacious. However, after a few weeks, this Toshiba microwave seems to randomly reset itself. For instance, I'll simply open the door and it "screams" at me (prolonged beep), the inside light goes out, and the display goes blank. After 5-6 seconds the beep will stop, the light will come back on, and the clock is reset to 00:00. As of the last few days this is now also happening after the cook time expires. For instance, I'll microwave something on full power for 2 minutes, and instead of the normal "beep beep beep beep beep" when the time reaches 0, it goes "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" and resets itself as described above. Very disconcerting, but it doesn't seem to affect the actual cooking (so far at least...fingers crossed!). This doesn't happen every time I use it, but maybe 1-2 out of 10 times? UPDATE (6/12/2020). So far the microwave is still plugging along, but it still occasionally randomly "freaks out" as described above. So strange.

The size is great. Noise is a lot less than my last one. The controls are really convenient for quick cooking. A button for melting or softening button to 1 lbs. button for defrosting. The front is anti smudge. It came quick. I did buy on sale, but it was worth the money. It is quiet, convenient buttons, hardly any cleaning, and looks great. I would buy again.

Microwave stopped heating anything 9 days after Amazon one month return window. I spent a long time chatting with product support, trying different solutions, including him wanting me to take the cabinet off. He said there is a one year warranty; however, I would need to ship it back for repair. I think that is unreasonable. I believe Amazon or Toshiba should appreciate their customers and have ups pick up this one and bring a new one the same day.

This could be the perfect microwave oven. Numbers are easy to see unlike most microwaves. The add 30 seconds is backgrounded in yellow and the stop in red at the bottom. So easy to spot. 1-6 buttons are auto actuated. Runs super quite. Wasn't sure it was working. Cooks nice and even. All kinds of special microwave settings. Five rings when food is done. I like the large handle for opening and closing. Small footprint. Large enough for almost anything you might want to microwave. Stainless steel looks great on the counter. Highly recommended.

I bought this microwave because my old one basically came close to exploding and I'm pretty sure was leaking large quantities of microwaves and slowly cooking us all. I have never been so glad to have been scared crap-less into buying a new nuker :) This microwave is BRILLIANT and the best part of all, YOU CAN SHUT OFF ALL SOUNDS, hooray! Not only that, but this microwave is whisper quiet when it cooks. The sensor function is equally awesome and the kids are happy to report no more frozen pizzas melted to oblivion on the edges and freezing cold in the center! Apparently it somehow manages to cook the entire pizza equally. The sensor modes are great for frozen dinners too with food cooking far more evenly. A quick pile of nacho chips are no longer glued to the plate by melted to beejeezus runs of liquefied cheese...this little nuker warms the chips gently while perfectly melting the cheese just enough to ooze over the chips a little. Cleaning so far has been easy...of course that has a lot to do with it being new...(kind of like a puppy everyone promises to clean up after which lasts about a week before it's mom's dog)...although food does not seem to spatter everywhere either which I think may be at least partly due to the whole food sensor thing...YaY! Super easy to learn touch controls...even I had no problem setting the clock correctly (which considering I'm the lady who would turn the blinking display on her dvd player to face the wall because of my epic failure to use anything more technical than a can opener, it's frankly amazing) It's appearance is overall very nice and I love that it is predominately black in color. Looks good in my darker colored kitchen. Mom tested, teenager approved.

True confession time. We bought this unit because it was under $100 (wow) and we wanted to take our old GE microwave with us when we move this fall, plus it looked like it would fit our built-in box and we wanted to leave one here to help with the house sale -- and it is kinda pretty looking. So we installed it, moved the GE out to the storage locker, and started using the Toshiba. All I can say is wow! We liked the old GE because it was easy to use and powerful and this one is ....easy to use and powerful! - It has a very convenient one-touch feature that gives you choice of 1-6 minutes at high, plus the start button gives you 30 seconds more if the unit is still running in whatever mode it is in - or just 30 seconds if you use it as a one-touch. - the one-touch works for defrosting too is you push defrost first - using lower power settings is a little more complicated but not much - the unit is SUPER QUIET, half or l;ess the db of our own unit. - power wise, it is a full 1100 watts and don't leave coffeee in there to reheat for two minutes!!! our "old" GE Profile was $500; this is $100. True the GE has a convection feature (which we don't use...) And we like the Profile. But I'd take either one, happily...its a great little microwave One way the Toshiba holds an edge is space. The GE was 15" x 24" -- this one is svelte at 13x22. WE are using ours as a built-in, but its actually designed as a table top unit.

THIS MICROWAVE DESERVES A "10 STAR RATING" AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED!! IT IS COMPACT, FITS GREAT ON MY COUNTER. IT IS EASY TO USE, HAS EVERY LEVEL AND POWER YOU WOULD EVER NEED AND IT IS SO QUIET I BARELY HEAR IT, EVEN IN THE KITCHEN NEARBY!! I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS TOSHIBA OVEN UNCONDITIONALLY. AND, IF YOU LOOK, YOU WILL SEE THAT I HARDLY EVER POST REVIEWS!! BUT, I AM A REAL 79 YEAR OLD LADY IN TEXAS AND THIS REVIEW IS REAL!!

The second or third time we used it, it malfunctioned and continued to do so. When the cook time was up, the buzzer went off and just kept going off while the oven continued to stay on. I had to open the door to get it to stop. The second time, opening the door didn't even stop it! Toshiba promptly refunded my money, and now i'm stuck with the defective product. It was nice looking, and very quiet though.

This worked for about a month. Then while reheating a bowl of rice for 2 minutes, I smelled something terrible: burning plastic. I opened the door and the chamber a plume of white smoke came out. I tried another reheat on some soup with the same result. It's going back. What I loved about it: 1. Silent mode: you can turn off the beeping sounds on the buttons and the cooking completion. 2. The 30 second button. 3. The three custom settings. 4. The quiet operation. But those aren't enough when something inside the works of the device are clearly over-heating.

I ordered the Stainless Steel version unaware that they are referring ONLY to the front bezel/face of the microwave. The top and sides are still black. The description they use is "Stainless Steel finish" vs "Black Stainless Steel exterior" for the two models which is kind of confusing and somewhat misleading. If this was an over the range type that is installed in a cabinet it obviously would not be an issue but, this is a countertop model. Buyer beware.

I did a lot of research for this, and chose the Toshiba EM131A5C-SS for its simplicity, relative price, and good reviews. I really like the front handle and the intuitiveness of functions most of all. I can do a quick start in :30 increments or a customized time, and the pre-set for potatoes is perfect for a small-to-medium sized Idaho potato. I had to add a little more for a big potato, but it came out very evenly-cooked. No tough or black ends. Potatoes and reheating is my #1 use of a microwave. It's even easy to set the clock and start or mute the touchpad beeping. So far, very good!

For nearly 5 months the microwave has performed as expected. Now, however, things have changed. Whenever something is heated/cooked that steams, the steams collects on the inside of the door window and runs. A seal or something of the sort must have given way. I took this problem to Toshiba service and was told that this is normal and should try to contain the steam via better cookware. Very disappointed in Toshiba.

Following the instructions in the manual, we could not get the power level button to work. All the manual says is "Prior to cooking, press Power Level and 'PL10' will display. Then press number pads to select a different power level." My wife and I both tried pressing the Power Level button many times, and nothing happened. So, we asked for a new microwave, which Amazon sent us. However, the exact same thing happened: the Power Level button did not appear to work if you follow the instructions in the manual. Searching through the reviews and questions, we found out why. If you press Time Cook, then enter a time, THEN press Power Level, the Power Level button works as described in the manual. The manual needs to clarify that this is how you use the Power Level button. Otherwise, this seems like a great microwave. You can turn off the beep, it has a handle, and it looks nice. It is slightly less powerful than the Panasonic it replaced, but we just adjusted our times. The thing I wish it had is a reminder beep to remind you that you left something in the microwave. I cannot tell you how many times we microwaved something while cooking dinner, only to find it later that night or the next day. Unfortunately, very few modern, inexpensive microwaves offer this feature. Edit: I added a picture of how they could correct their manual to make the "power level" button description better. This is how I've modified our manual, which we keep near the microwave.

PROS: Well, it cooked stuff, as microwaves are wont to do. CONS: About 4 days before the return period is over (and thankfully not any later), it began making a sound like a huge, rusty gate being opened shortly after being started. Seems the motor that spins the platter inside just couldn't take it anymore and started to give up, evidenced by removing the platter entirely and running it resulting in much softer or no motor screeching sound. This, in combination with the subsequent smoky smell that came from the rear vents, led to an immediate return. Gonna find a microwave that's hopefully less prone to roaring like Godzilla.

I was not worried about purchasing this product because the ratings seemed to be pretty good! The price was right, & being a widower, it was affordable! However, now that I have has this for over a month, I am extremely upset about how long it takes to heat up even the simplest food! Would not recommend this product for many reasons! Almost impossible to keep clean, & it makes crazy noises while running! Also it is so much smaller inside then pictured! They say, “you get what you pay for,” and this price should be much less for the quality of this microwave! Spend a few extra dollars and don’t waste your time or hard earned money on this microwave! I am so sorry I did!

We purchased this to replace our 10 year old Sharp Carousel Micro that died all of a sudden. We've never had any other brand over all the years. I have to say we are very pleased with this Toshiba. It's much more user friendly than our Sharp with so many more great features. WOW so quiet !!. Love the handle to open the door rather than having to push a button to open. I really like the look of the black stainless. If I had one negative thing to say (not a huge deal breaker issue) the beeper when it goes off is a bit longer & louder than our old micro. I found it a tiny bit annoying. The great feature on this micro is that issue is solved by holding on the #8 button to turn the beeper off. I love being able to turn it off of which is most the time. The nice feature is if or when I do need the beeper I can turn it back on.. I think it's a wonderful feature for those who don't want to disturb a sleeping person or baby. I ordered it at 7PM in the evening when old one died & had it by 10AM the next morning with Prime free shipping.

I checked out reviews and this Toshiba rated very well. When I got this one it heated poorly and unevenly. Required higher settings and more time for the same heating jobs as my other microwaves. Defrosting very uneven. After a couple of weeks it started screeching. The good reviews are a mystery to me. I will try to find another brand since I am not willing to try another Toshiba.

I can see this particular microwave heading for the garbage prematurely. Functions nice however beep feature needs to stop when opened. Can`t shut off cuz I`m not the only user(3 others in household). What bothers me the most is I received just before Christmas (Dec 22 ish) and the buttons for off and 30 sec are already cracked(Jan. 5th). Its only had real light use as a coffee in am and accassionally to reheat leftovers for lunch. It seems to me to be of low quality. My old GE lasted 20 yrs without any problems whatsoever. I can see a new GE in the near future. Very disappointed with this purchase especially after reading all the good write ups

So far I have tried three features. First I thawed half pound of ground beef using custom defrost as directed. Good results—a little firm right in the center, but smashable; no cooked parts. Next I melted a stick of butter using soften/melt button, S-1 setting. The stick was totally melted and did not start to bubble before the end of the cycle. Finally I softened a stick of butter using soften/melt button, S-5 setting, and again good results— butter spreadable with no melted sections. The unit is a good size, slightly smaller than my old midsize (taking up a little less room on the counter) and it looks great. I’m quite satisfied so far. Ease of use is a 4 because these functions I used require a code (such as S-1 and S-5 mentioned above), so I will probably always need to consult the charts in the manual to get the right one. But they work as designed, and that’s what’s most important. Since first reviewing this I have also used the reheat feature on lasagna, again with good results. I had most of a 9 x 9 dish. It warmed evenly and did not overcook the dish.

Our Toshiba EM131A5C-SS arrived safe without any damage or defects. It operates a little different than previous microwaves we've had, but after reading directions and using it a few times it becomes easy to remember what buttons to push for various functions. I like that this unit is 1100 watt where as my previous was 900 and did not cook efficiently, this one heats, cooks, melts faster. I like that the interior is easy to clean. We don't actually cook from scratch with our microwaves, we don't cook a raw whole chicken or make a casserole from scratch, rather we use our microwave to warm up leftovers, make microwave popcorn, melt butter, warm up coffee etc etc. and this Toshiba EM131A5C-SS does the job just fine so far. I read the reviews about the function and timer buttons bubbling and I am hoping that does not happen, so far it hasn't happened after a month or so, lets hope it stays that way.

I have gone through many microwave ovens in 10 years. Most are too noisy, especially the chimes which rarely can be disabled. The door opens and closes quietly (doesn't use the usual noisy push button to open). Push the "8" button for several seconds until it beeps to turn off the beeper. Do the same to turn it back on. This 1100W unit cooks evenly, unlike my former 1200W Panasonic Inverter model.

The Bunkers sang "Boy, that old LaSalle ran great!" My previous 1.2 Cu Ft Goldstar (LG) microwave lasted 20 years before it started making thunderstorms (arc-ing light shows, and loud crackling noises). It never had a problem with the turntable. Before I purchased this Toshiba microwave, I read several reviews, and some folks said they got a "growler". Loud noises obviously coming from the turntable. Well, almost every product review has some negative reviews. We all take our chances, just like we do driving every day. I took my chance that I wouldn't get a 'growler'. If I had sent a review during the first month with this microwave, I would have given it five stars. In the second month I started getting some occasional loud growling noises from the turntable. The microwave sounded louder than my dishwasher. Now, after a full two months, the loud growling, grinding noises are complaining almost constantly. I will be returning this microwave, and look for another brand. When contemplating the hassle of packing and shipping this one back, I also realized that I'd have to buy another one first. I never had thought about how much I depend on the microwave every day! I can hardly get by for a day without a microwave. It's almost as essential as the refrigerator. Update, after more than a year with the replacement microwave. Bumped from 2 stars to 4. Now, I'm very pleased with the new one. It works great, and there's no loud growling/grinding noise. Still not a 5-star, because I had to return the first one; and there's that overwhelming question about effectively removing the plastic film from the "keyboard". I'm afraid to rip it off, and leave lingering plastic "hairs" where the plastic is covered by bezel.

I retired a GE microwave that was about 12 years old. This unit is about as noisy, not as well built (is anything these days from China?), and takes longer to heat, but I am not sure of the wattage of my old one. I have only had it for about 30 days, but I would say that most people need a microwave like this one, without spending any more money. The size is good, the interface is clear, and I like the sturdy handle. My old one which I could not find from other manufacturers, had both a handle, and a dial interface, and was made entirely from stainless steel. I paid 60 bucks from Walmart. This one, though, is quite capable for my uses which consist of heating coffee, frozen entrees, and reheating previous meals. You don't need to spend $250 for microwave ovens, unless you are needing a much larger unit to cook a Turkey, Yish! This is quite adequate for daily tasks.

This microwave has worked well over the months we have had it. It seems to have slightly less power than our previous one and takes a little longer to cook, however, that was easy to adjust to. Unfortunately, from the first use, the interior light flickered continually and then would go out about a minute into cooking and stay off. It also rarely worked when the door was opened. As time went on, the functioning of the light got progressively worse until now it rarely lights-up at all, and even then gives just a quick annoying flicker. The lighting unit is not accessible for repair or replacement or even to check if something is merely loose.

The first new microwave I have had in 20 years! I like the fact it has a handle rather than a push button to get in. I am having some trouble getting used to the fact I cannot put in the time manually. I would like to be able to put in 1 minute 15 seconds but it only comes in 30 intervals. Also, it was slated as very quiet. That has not been our experience. Unless you place your item very carefully in the exact middle of the glass plate, it makes noises as it turns. However, cooking wise all seems to work well.

I LUV THE MUTE SOUND FUNCTION. this is the only reason i bought the MW and it works great. there ought to be a law that makes this mute sound function mandatory on all MW’s :) i also received added bonus of a nice and asthetically clean looking MW, that is very quiet, has durable solid feel to door, handle, and latches. box was packed well and clearly marked as a MW, which probably prevented shippers from playing football with it, as i was impressed by lack of rough handling and no crushed box corners, and no punching bag holes in box sides. i hope to provide review follow-up in 1-3 yrs. BTW...did i tell u I LUV THE MUTE SOUND FUNCTION.

We received this last week and it looks extremely sleek and works very well. The things I don’t like about it; - the location of the time cook button is extremely annoying. Very easy to forget to push - VERY LOUD ; the only option is to turn the volume off , if I knew how loud it was and no volume control i would have ordered a different one Otherwise it’s a nice microwave

When our 25 year old microwave "gave-up-the ghost" I spent quite a bit of time looking at units, reading reviews and finally coming to a decision of purchasing this Toshiba microwave......like a lot of people we use our microwave a ton, really a lot of usage, so we wanted a reliable unit that could perform all of the varied functions, yet could be used with "pushing one button" when one didn't want to mess with complicated programing...well, this unit does both..multiple functions yet when wanted (usually by me and not my wife :-) ) could be used simply. Everything works well as advertised...excellent instructions were included.....highly recommend.

Well the product flaw which was cook power level was not working..... actually does work, but you have to know what to do, cause manual does not give correct info. If you want to use power level, you must enter the "cook time" instead of power level. so instead of quick time or power level....first enter a cook time, then hit power level and choose the power level you desire. And rep did not immediately understand what were trying to discuss.

Note: Durability rated 5/5 on projected use over time. I'll update the review as necessary should this projection change appreciably. Good unit for the money. Powerful, useful presets, color makes it well-suited for most any placement in any kitchen. Even the clock was easy to set! ;-) Only two gripes, albeit minor. First, delivery kept the unit on the first day because they weren't comfortable leaving it outside. That's understandable, but providing an option to leave it would have been nice, since not everyone can be at home during normal delivery hours. To be clear, the gripe here is not that the delivery company kept the item overnight, it's that there was no option for the delivery company to leave it at the house. Gripe #2: the buttons are loud. Not distractingly so, but I would have preferred a more subdued, muted level of noise. Overall, satisfied with the purchase. At this point, would order this unit again... many years down the road. ;-)

Only had this in use for one month and already the light is broken, flashing and blinking like a manic strobe. Then the power will not "reset" back to full power (level 10) no matter what you try. (yes I did the cook time function first, and then the power level "10" but once I push start, the power reverts back to 8. I made a mistake--hope to save you from making one too.

Purchased in July. Used for convenience cooking (coffee heating, vegetables, reheating food). No problems whatsoever. Some features are highly attractive for this kind of use. Top among them is ability to turn off all signals (start, finish, no beeps). Most mfr’s seem tone deaf (ahem) on how unneeded and aggravating this feature can be for certain folks. With the apparent high incidence of ADD and screen addiction the typical microwave’s implacable signals may well be needed; but not by all of us. Another feature is the retro handle to open and close the door. No cheap springy push button to pop out and render the unit unusable. I’ve wondered how the largely Asian makers of these appliances come up with their product designs, what kind of consumer market research goes in. It’s still early and this unit may yet die young in my kitchen. That said, it is working great as one ‘lives in the moment’. [Apologies for the bad English grammar. Never know who’s writing these reviews, do ya.] 9-13-19 Update: Still works like a champ; no problems. Gizmo-wise, less really is more. Being able to shut off the done signal is hugely appreciated.

Product extremely well packaged. User Manual better than most. Quality of build is excellent. It has the Microwave and the Convective mode and is superb in operation. I also very much like that it is not over-engineered with faddish bells and whistles which no one really ever uses, yet which add severe complexity, and markedly increase the chances of malfunction.

This is a solid product with everything necessary, and no extras that are expensive but foolish add-ons.

Amazon Prime's "2 Day Shipping" is getting to be a rude joke, and I am not likely to renew my Prime membership this year. This microwave was one of several items I ordered via Prime which I received notice (after I paid) would be "delayed".

2 Day shipping is 2 Day shipping. Or refund my Prime membership Fee.

My old microwave died after 9 years. This has all the new features. I got this in black, the size is perfect and the price is just right. It has a light inside, easy to use. I love this and Amazon got this to me in 2 days. I don't need any extra features. Just love this.

I am extremely pleased with this microwave. I did a lot of research and decided on this Toshiba mid-sized model. Primarily, I wanted a decent microwave that had a similar footprint and power level to my old microwave. My trusty, very old Sharp 1,000 Watt microwave started to have touch pad input issues. First the "2" button stopped working, then the "4" button went. Not having the "4" wasn't so bad, but the missing "2" got to be a real drag. This Toshiba is 1,100 Watts and it is more efficient and cooks faster and more evenly than my old Sharp. The outside and inside dimensions are only slightly larger than my old machine. It fits on my counter and is only a bit taller. The glass turntable plate is 12.4", so you can easily place a dinner-sized plate inside. What I have come to really like are the 1-6 one touch buttons. You press the 1 button for 1 minute, 2 button for 2 minutes, etc. I use these all the time. There is also a 30 second button which is quite useful too. There is a heating sensor which works extremely well for re-warming dinner plates of food. You just press the sensor button and the machine decides when the food is hot enough. The black stainless steel exterior is a cinch to clean and shows no fingerprints (I'm looking at you, dishwasher and refrigerator!)

This microwave is a great addition to my appliances. After my last microwave started arcing out by the lightbulb snd tried to catch fire i searched for a replacement. The convection oven combo sealed the deal and the price was great. This oven is larger than my last one which is a plus. I i

Unboxed it today and so far the microwave portion works great have not used the oven portion yet but will update as I do.

Update 2/4/19: this unit has ran great! The convection oven has been used many times with no issues. Love it!

Although this is the first microwave I've ever had that warms the bowls/plates/mugs more than their contents, it works well enough otherwise. The only significant complaint I have is that whenever something gets the interior hot (like heating up soup) the LED interior light stops working for a few hours. I've contacted Toshiba customer service about this but they never responded. Update: as of 11-25-18 the light has completely stopped working. The uneven heating has continued and usually makes no sense at all.

Good microwave. My daughter has baked cookies and heated frozen pizza, and what else I don't know she uses it alot for the convection. I mostly use it for microwaving. It's a good microwave but there is one thing I don't like. I can't just punch in 3:30 mins. The setting is made to start at the whole number and then you can add secs in 30 sec increments. Otherwise it's pretty okee-dokey.

So far, so good. It's July in Tennessee, not exactly the best time to use a real oven, so I haven't. But I have used the microwave function a lot, and I really love it. My previous micro/convection was a different brand that had 2 knobs to control various functions, and I disliked them intensely; I was always under- or over-shooting the desired value, and I wasted a lot of time fiddling with them to get to the number I wanted. This one has entered the digital age and made accurate setting easy. I haven't tried the presets (I don't do much commercial popcorn, I guess), but if I already know how long at how much power, I'm in business.

If I have anything to really add to this after I try the convection function, I'll update this. (I've done it before, and I get angry at retailers who won't let me update my own reviews).

Ok finally received this microwave & while I definitely took reviewer "David's" advice & kept the box I certainly hope I don't need it since I don't know how this little senior lady could get it off the counter top & back into the box it came in, not even sure how I was able to get it from the box & lift it up onto the counter top initially; I had to lay down for 30 minutes after.. There should be some type of warning label on this to caution people over 77 y/o about the actual true weight of this microwave & lifting could be health harmful.. Anyway, I used the microwave last night & it works Ok & as for myself I'm not crazy about the stainless steel & should have given that much more thought before making this purchase since stainless steel does not do well with the perspiration from anyone's hands.. I keep thinking they sent me the wrong microwave because when the USPS person left it in the hallway of my apartment & I saw the size of the box I shook my head & had a "should I send this right back" moment; but knowing that the outside box is not representative of the product inside I blew off that initial 'send back' feeling SMH on that.. This microwave although true to the sizing chart is HEAVY especially if you're a 77 y/o senior lady & you live alone & have no one else to lift it for you; in retrospect I should have gone to a brick & mortar store & taken a look at one there as a reference point on the "could I lift it" thing, however, I was swayed by the reviews & honestly there is nothing different about this microwave that you cannot get with a smaller & lighter weight one so if you're the only lifter person in the household you might want to give that some thought.. Other than that weight/lifting negative it appears to be a nice microwave; just color me black & blue and STUCK !! Update: **Decided to return this it's way too big for this little lady & it does leave fingerprints **

Got a bad one. I want to return it, but the box has been thrown out, so I'm screwed and angry. The interior light flickers, and the 1100 watt power is definitely less than our old 1000 watt microwave. The popcorn setting won't pop popcorn properly. If you buy one of these, keep the box it comes in.

The interior light will start blinking after being used over 5 minutes, seems like due to high temprature? Otherwise this oven works good so far.

Decided on this microwave due to the overwhelming number of 5-star reviews and was NOT disappointed! We love the stainless steel silver design, pull handle design, and easy single push-button start feature. The buttons are a little larger and better spaced than the model that we are replacing. The interior LED light in easy on the eyes when operating it at night in a dimly lit kitchen. Haven't had a mess to clean inside yet but the white interior design looks great with less crevices for food to get stuck in when compared to our previous model. Despite what we've read in previous comments this Toshiba model runs MUCH QUIETER than our previous microwave. I barely hear it while standing within 10 feet of the unit! The only downside is a small one in that it does not have a reminder beep (in case you left the room and forgot you were heating something) when the microwave finishes and you leave it sitting beyond the initial alert. Overall this was a fantastic purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Update: After nearly two years of use this microwave oven is going strong and I am still super satisfied with it. Highly recommended. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* So far so good! The kitchen is going to be renovated late this summer, and our old GE microwave which came with the house needed to be replaced to match. (The GE was working well and adequate, but was a bit of a fashion faux pas in any environment.) After reading lots of reviews for mid-sized microwaves, I decided to try this Toshiba. The kitchen will feature a black sink and black commercial faucet, with light gray countertop with dark veins/patterns, the floor will be dark grey tile. So the colour and exterior styling of this Toshiba fits right in. More important are a couple of things I’ve noticed in the short period I’ve had this unit. First, it is quiet! At least it is much quieter than the old GE. Second, the various settings seem to work well. I used the sensor reheat yesterday evening for the first time and it worked very well. I have yet to try any of the other auto settings; I’ve never used many such settings in the past. But this little guy has me intrigued for some strange reason. One or more reviews stated they could not get the beeper turned off even when following the instructions. It DOES work; just press the #8 on the keypad long enough. The trick is to hold the key press long enough. The manual states 3 seconds, but I think it is more like 4 seconds. This setting will change back to default if the power goes out and the unit resets, but that’s to be expected. All-in-all I’m very happy so far. As I get more practice with it I will try to remember to update this review. I’ve always been happy with most Toshiba products, including a 39” LED television that I purchased from Amazon a few years ago.

The LED interior light sometimes does not light up. The microwave function works just fine, however. I do not like that I have to press 'cook time' before typing in how long I like to cook, as our last two microwaves you simply type in the duration and press Go.

We moved into a new house with no range microwave so I was on the hunt for a countertop. This one fit the bill and after a month of use, we are pretty happy with it. I was looking for: - Quick 30 button that didn’t need an addition button press to start - Quick minute button, bonus for 2-6 quick minute buttons - Handle to open the door - >=1000w power - Bonus points for small footprint due to limited counter space The only thing that really missed the mark was the footprint, but I did a lot of comparisons, and this one’s footprint is pretty much average for a microwave of this capacity. We didn’t need a fancy machine with all the bells and whistles. We really just needed something that would reheat leftovers so we don’t use the presets or other functions on this microwave. I did try the butter melt/soften function once and the butter boiled over, so I don’t think they really work all that well anyway. Overall, we are very happy with this microwave! A countertop microwave with a handle instead of a button for door operation really narrows down the choices, and I’m really happy we chose this one!

I really like this microwave so far just after a few weeks of use. It looks nice and best thing is how quite it is... Only items I have issue with is fact that only front is stainless (which I think is similar case for other microwaves) & some of the controls take getting used to. Otherwise very good.

I ordered one and it was defective. Got the replacement and it was defective, also. After going to all the trouble of unpacking and setting both of these up and finding that neither works, I am not a happy person. Will never order anything like this from Amazon again. I should have bought it at Walmart.

Just a solid microwave. You should ask yourself - do I need a microwave large enough to defrost a frozen ostrich? Do I need 2500 watts of power so that there's a 3 second margin of error between warming up my Dinty Moore and painting the walls of my microwave with it? When you reach a certain age, you start rethinking some things. I bought a luxury microwave and all I use it for is to reheat junk food that wasn't that good the first time around. Yeah, Dennis, I do need to exercise more. But I'm also going to buy a smaller microwave and clear up some counter space for more fruit. This is that microwave, and I recommend it.

I wanted a microwave that (1) was quiet (2) had a buzzer that wasn't too loud (3) was nice looking (4) the light came on when the door was opened and (5) didn't cost a fortune. This one fit the bill and for the most part, I'm satisfied with it. The only problem is it takes quite a bit longer to cook the food than my old one did. It's not worth the hassle of returning it so I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Great microwave as it should be for this price lol. No problems at all. It's powerful and spacious.i can put a full size bag of microwavable popcorn in there and it will not touch the sides while spinning on the plate.

This model has very easy to use and convenient control features. 90% of the time, we push one button to start the microwave. we really like that the finish does not show fingerprints like our previous stainless steel microwave did. The unit is powerful enough to be reasonably fast, yet space saving size and tall enough inside for anything we want to use it for. The only negative so far is the custom defrost cycles are way too aggressive, actually starting cooking both beef and chicken about 1/2 way through the recommended time - not good. If I enter about 50% of the actual weight of the item, the recommended time is about right. Very good value at $110.
