KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough.

This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. The bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away.

After years of wanting a beautiful stand mixer I bit the bullet and purchased one for my birthday. I am wondering if I should have spent the full (almost double price) on a non-refurbished model as the refurbished model has me concerned. First use the head bounced terribly, after looking it up online I found instructions to tighten a bolt for the head, that immediately fixed the head wobble. My next use of the mixer was for a single loaf of white bread - using only 3 cups of flour, supposedly this machine can handle up to 6 cups. after the second cup of flour with the motor on the lowest setting to mix, the machine started to make an almost grinding grumbling sound and seemed to be straining to mix. I've continued to use it multiple times for super simple mixes like pizza dough, small batch cookies, muffins... Last week I wanted to make a bigger batch of cookies, and pulled out the Kitchenaid cook book recommended to for this mixer. Once again, a 3 cup of flour recipe and the machine started to make the same struggling noise. I'm not sure if the gears are starting to grind down after only 2 months? I was so excited to have this machine and now I'm afraid to use it out of fear of breaking it and am starting to regret purchasing it. Even refurbished that was a lot of money for only 2 months of baking. I'm going to try and see if the gears or from what I read specifically the worm gear is already destroyed, but feel at 2 months old I shouldn't have to be doing repairs.

This is my second KitchenAid mixer in twenty five years! My first one still works great, but I wanted a different color to match my decor. The quality is outstanding, and I love the new bowl design. This is a must have for every kitchen! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I love my kitchen aid. I had owned one for over 30 years and it finally died when I was making a heavy xmas bread. My husband bought me this refurbished one and I love the bowl with the handle, mixing arm with a scraper...it is awesome!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I purchased this as a refub unit through KitchenAid. Shipped fast, gave it as a gift from our kids to my wife for her Birthday. Works great, just didn't come with the shield on top of the bowl as the picture shows. I realize its a refurb but you still shouldnt advertise a refurb with a pic of " what it includes" if it doesn't or you have to disclose that it has missing items. My wife said it doesn't matter but this is an item she has had her eye on for years and we just wanted it to be perfect. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've been cooking for a family for close to 40 years and always wanted a kitchenaid but didn't feel I could afford it. If I had only known HOW MUCH BETTER it is I would have economized in some other area and bought the mixer. I love having power to cream butter and mix cookie dough as well as knead bread. It's great!
