Terrible! It doesn’t turn off once turned on to toast...and it’s impossible to get it to the right twist of toast to be done properly, once you turn it that’s it, can’t be turned off until it’s done it’s thing so either too long and burnt or too short and doesn’t toast at all. So you have to turn on too long, stand over it..don’t even think of walking away, take it out while it’s red hot and don’t burn your hand before it burns your food, then close the door and you have to leave it ON....as it’s finishing toasting nothing can be done to stop the toasting process once it’s on, fire hazard. I won’t even allow my kid to use this it’s so difficult to navigate. It’s a toaster people! Did you not test it out? Who made this thing? It’s asinine. Threw away the box so I guess I’ll just be throwing this thing in the garbage and getting a new one and lose my money, because the last thing I want is to be frustrated making toast every morning! Ridiculous!

It seems to work good, but they need to make better knobs. There's NO indent on knobs, so when i try to turn it ON, it just slips thru my fingers. I had to find a rubber grabber to be able to turn it on & off. I tho't i was getting an oven that could be used as regular oven, AND a convection oven.. Not so. I have no idea of how long to cook things in a convection oven. There are no suggestions on the machine on how to use anything. Seems to be cheaply made. Leave off whatever we can to keep it cheap. I do like the size tho, because I have a small kitchen with not much counter space. It makes toast quickly.

Everything is great about this toaster oven. My roommates and I love it. Only issue is the bottom most knob is difficult to turn. Otherwise have had it many weeks and it is working just fine!

Be very careful with this one, it's really easy to under- or overshoot with toasting. Hard to read numbers, hard to turn it off after the food is ready. The timer stuck a couple of times and we had to unplug it to avoid fire. At the end, it burnt the bread to black items, causing a lot of smoke and fire alarm. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO BUY this, it's simply garbage.

I was looking for a compact toaster oven, and one with name recognition I could trust. This Black and Decker fit the bill. This will toast (both sides at the same time, broil (top only) and bake, though nothing big or very tall. 4 slices sure, but Nachos will be a stretch just for height limitations.

I love it, its big enough to cook what I want and small enough for my counter. The only complaint I have is the inside tray isn't big enough. you can't even but 2 slices of bread on it, you can without the tray tho.

While this is a good little toaster, the bottom know to turn it off is really hard to turn off. It turns easily to turn it on but I've had to get my husband to come turn it off. Also to get evenly cooked you need to take the rack out and turn it around to finish.

Does what it’s supposed to do. The only issue I have is adjusting the bottom knob for toasting. Wish they had something to grub better, but overall a good toaster oven.

Amazing product for the price, the clearance between the tray (height is not adjustable) and the broiler burners is pretty short, you can't use it to make a small thing of nachos, its really just a toaster that works great with bagels.

Don't know how old the other one was but it had been used daily with no issues. Like other have mentioned if you turn the timer past stop it will stay on but once you realize it never an issue for us

From the first time I used this it smoked, overheated and burned the food. Every time I used it it smelled up the house. I didn't return it because it was used at that point and I regret that now. It exploded about the 10th time I used it and caught fire. And I had kept it very clean. Fortunately I was watching it at the time and put the fire out. I'm afraid to buy another toaster - this one got good reviews and was "Amazon's Choice" - so who knows what I'd get?

Hearts up quickly and shuts down, then hearts up again, unlike previous model that I replaced just for to how old it looked and couldn't get it clean but worked perfectly and better than this.

The knob design is very very bad. First, it is too slippery to turn. So, if you are trying to turn off the oven after getting your food out, expect to spend 10 minutes struggling with the knob. Second, and more importantly, the stay-on function is right below the zero. If you either the mechanical wheel behind the knob is malfunctioned or loose, or if you overturn the knob slightly past the zero point because you were struggling with it so much, the oven would stay on without you knowing. This could easily caused a house fire. There are many cheap ovens out there, don't waste your time getting frustrated on this one. On the flip side, though, this oven looks modern and small enough to fit in tight counter space.

I bought this for our office kitchen after our toaster oven died. I looked locally first and wanted to get one the same day, but thought I would check out Amazon to see what I could have very soon. I came across this and was intrigued by the fact that it is also a convection oven at such a low price. It arrived the next day and everyone has used it and reported that it toasts very nicely and evenly and that frozen meals (even large ones) cook very nicely and to instructions on their boxes. Get one of these if you want a solid toaster oven (which happens to look very nice) at a VERY reasonable price! My next Amazon purchase will include one of these for home. I'll donate my current toaster oven!

When my last toaster oven breathed its last hot air, I was upset, until I realized that I had bought it over 35 years ago! Probably the oldest piece of electrical equipment I owned. And, it was a Black and Decker, which influenced my purchase. Looking for another 35 years... Con: My biggest problem is that my last toaster oven had a large capacity - I could have gotten a small chicken inside. No option with this one. Pro: I never cooked a small chicken in 35 years! The capacity was largely theoretical. It cooks flat stuff fine. And, it TOASTS really well! (My other one didn't...)

I hardly ever write reviews anywhere but the amount of frustration this toaster oven has caused me has spurred me into action. I have burnt more bagels in this thing in one month than i have in the entire history of my life up until now. Toasted items go from completely untoasted to burnt in 30 seconds. Do not take your attention off it for a moment. The knobs are terrible. The knob that controls the level of toast you expect (light, medium, dark) is hard to turn, and the levels are not sufficiently far apart so as to allow you to actually turn it to light instead of dark with any degree of control. All darkness levels are clustered together. It reheats food ok, but honestly, i have a microwave for that so whatever. If you primarily toast bagels/breads, please avoid this and save yourself a trash bag full of hockey pucks.

How is it possible for a toaster oven to be so bad? You would think you could put a piece of bread in, select a shade of darkness and be done with it, the toaster oven should toast the bread and turn off. Yet, for the past month now the two adults in my house still cannot figure out how to simply toast a piece of bread. This thing in maddening. It's over complicated, has three dials, a timer that bears no rhyme or reason to the doneness of the bread, bells go off and the heating coils don't, or vice-versa. I can't tell you how many pieces of toast it's ruined. Half the time we have to unplug it just to turn it off! Don't buy this hunk of junk, buy a toaster.

I always had a black and decker toaster oven. When my old one finally passed after a decade, I was tempted by another brand of air fryer, toaster, oven combo. Problem, the toasts came out dry. Not delicious at all. So I returned to B n D toaster oven, and I'm glad I did. My garlic toasts came out crunchy on top, yet a bit moist on the bottom. I can easily see how the bread darken, so I can turn the oven off at the exact time. YES, THERE IS AN OFF. Turn the timer knob to the left until you hear a ting, or turn to the o position. (Like O= OFF). Off is 2nd from the furthest left you can turn on the timer knob. The furthest left is Always On. So be careful. I think that's how some reviews experienced problems. They may have kept the oven in always on instead of O for off. Just in case, I unplugged the oven after use as recommended by the manual. This toaster is shiny and cute too. So I am happy with this. I bought the stainless steel one, and my daughter loves its adorableness too. Main point. This toaster oven actually makes the food taste good! Why buy a more expensive one if the food won't taste great afterwards? This toaster oven is cheaper, easier to use, food came out great, and looks cute. I am very happy with this purchase. PS. Toasted waffles today. Crunchy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Crunch then steamy. Delicious. Do not turn to black toast because "black toast". I recommend turning to just above white toast and watch it. If the food looks good to you, turn it off, then take it out.

If my toast is done it won't allow me to turn off the timer like my last B and D Toaster. The timer has to run it's course and shut off. I find myself just unplugging the thing and letting the time end. How do designers miss these simple things? Otherwise it does great.

Overall an attractive, decent toaster oven that does its intended job. HOWEVER, there is a serious design flaw. The "stay on" setting activates at the fully counter clockwise position just past the "off" point. Both my wife and I have inadvertently turned the switch a bit too far and walked away with the oven ON when intending to shut it OFF. This is a fire hazard!! The "stay on" position should be fully clockwise past the maximum time setting of 30 minutes. At the very least provide a much more positive stop for off.

This toaster does not have click stops for darkness levels. You can neve get the same level of darkness twice. You have to watch your toast and stop the toaster manually.

Looks nice, easy to clean. Hard to operate. Every operation required first setting the temperature, then specify the function, and finally turn on and then off. Three separate knobs required, each knob difficult to read. On/off manually required for all but timed functions like toast. Opening the door does not turn off the heating element. No insulation, meaning the outside of the oven became extremely hot.

I wanted a small supplementary oven which would also act as a toaster. I should have paid attention to the name: it's a *toaster*/oven. I haven't had one in years, so it took me a while to figure out which tray went where (the instructions were not all that clear, AFAIC). And I'm -- still -- not entirely clear what, *exactly*, the "turn to 10 minutes then turn to the desired setting" means. But I have been using it, fairy regularly, for almost a month now. The *toasting* function is *excellent*. What I'm less than happy with is its *baking* function. The highest setting is 450ºF but I put in an oven thermometer in with my second baked potato and discovered why the first one was unsatisfactory: the temperature *never* reaches 400º, not even after an hour. You can, still, bake your potato but you have to set the oven up at 450º (instead of 425º) and let it bake for more than an hour (rather than 50 minutes). That's disappointing. And, given the automatic cut off at 30 minutes (unless you manage to turn the knob to the "stay on" setting, which is not easy), annoying. Have not tried any other settings, so far.

Nice replacement for my prior Black & Decker that served me well for over 20 years that finally gave up the ghost. Added features is that it can evenly toast 4 slices (2 hamburger buns!) at a time, warms leftovers slowly and evenly, and is very easy to keep clean. The controls were a little odd (you need to turn both dials to 'toast' to actually toast), but a little retraining of my brain took care of most of it. Unit arrived with a couple of minor cosmetic dents, which I'm willing to live with but reduced an otherwise 5 star review to 4.

I got it for my mom. She wanted something small to put on her kitchen counter. She got it primarily to cook small meals for herself—that way, she does not need to use the big oven and save on electricity. She is pleased with the oven so far.

It is hard to get used to the timer on this toaster oven. I get very burnt toast or totally untoasted bread. The instrutions that come with the product are terrible. I wish I'd bought simple toaster instead. I loved my old Black and Decker toaster oven. This one is far harder to use than it needs to be and I regret buying it. As someone asks, there is no selfcleaning element inside either, and the trap to get rid of crumbs on the old one is not a feature in this one. I'd advise others to avoid the product, despite Amazon's hard sell. I am amazed by how bad the design of products are, despite the touting of new features. They don't work right.

This product is not the quality I expected from Black and Decker. The trays and rack that go into the over get dirty very quickly and they do not clean well. It is hard to manipulate the trays, putting them in the oven and taking them out of the oven. When the oven is in use, the outside of the oven gets dangerously hot. I am disappointed with this purchase.

I bought his toaster to replace a similar older on I've had for 10 years that finally broke. I can’t imagine why products would get worse ten years later but this one has somehow. First thing is it’s advertised in the photos on amazon as being 16-17” wide and you can see in my pics it’s barely 15”. Comically small. The only way you could for 4 pieces of bread in at once would be if it the pieces were very small. The most aggravating thing is once it’s going you can’t turn it off! The last one i had at least if you accidentally put too much time on the timer you could turn it back, not with this one. So if it’s burning something and you're looking around for an oven mitt you can’t stop it in the meantime. And if something is done early the thing keeps on cooking after you take the food out until it dings. Unless you unplug it??? Mind boggling to think this was designed that way. Also be careful toasting things it will burn stuff to a crisp within seconds if you’re not careful. I tried to send this back but I looked EVERYWHERE and could not find a close replacement to my trusty last one anywhere. Very sad.

For years we had the most awesome Black & Decker toaster/convection oven. So when it finally quit, I knew I wanted one just like it. Have always been a Black & Decker fan, so the search was on, after taking measurements of the old stove, as space was limited. Discovered the stove with the same measurements. Read everything I could on it and noticed only a few superficial minor differences. But when it arrived, I immediately noticed the outside measurements may be the same, but inside it is not as wide or as deep as the old one. Disappointment #1. The old oven had latches on the door that hooked to the rack, so when you opened the door, the rack came out so you could easily check the food, turn it or whatever. On the new one, the door opens and the rack doesn’t move. Disappointment #2. And on the new one, the door does not go all the way down, like the old one did, so you must be cautious when putting your hand inside the oven to pull out the rack or deal with the food. Disappointment #3. And of course, being disappointed in a Black & Decker product is disappointment #4.

I bought this toaster and within two weeks of using it, it caught on fire. Picture this, I’m toasting my favorite bagel one morning and as I turn around to grab the cream cheese and jelly, flames start shooting out of the toaster I just bought. I lost a good bagel that day. By the time I extinguished the flames and the fire was out, my breakfast was cremated. After conducting a thorough inspection of the little arsonist, there weren’t any noticeable damages that could have caused this tragedy. It’s too late for me to return this or receive a refund, but the least I could do is warn others and tell my bagel’s story, may it rest in peace. If you like living on the edge and want to buy something that could burst into flames, then this is the toaster for you, make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy. 14/10 would not recommend.

This is pretty basic little toaster oven that does what it advertises. However, one major failure is the ability to turn it off, aside from unplugging it, without waiting for the timer to tick down. There is no way to turn off the timer with its annoyingly loud ticking, so if your food is done earlier than expected, you can only unplug it and move out of hearing range. Seems like B&D could have put a little more thought into that.

This is a newer version of the B&D toaster we have had for several years. We use all of the features it has and fully expect this to last 5+ years like our last ones. Great product for the money.

For around 40 bucks you can’t beat this little work horse. I’ve had Black & Decker toaster ovens over the years and they never wear out, but eventually get a little worse for wear cosmetically. I like the stainless steel construction of this one. My last one was similar but had a black body and steel face. Let’s break down the pros and cons, shall we? PROS Looks nice. Fits in to a nice kitchen even if it’s not a so-called high end brand. It works! This baby gets nice and hot. My last one (an Oster, yes I had a brief affair with another toaster oven and I’m not proud of it ) left fish sticks mushy. I don’t think it got hot enough. Now they are crunchy on the outside and flaky in the inside. Makes good toast. Just make sure you don’t walk away. It happens fast. Use the lightest setting. The removable crumb tray helps keep it clean and will make it last longer. The rack is a cool design. The provided cooking tray doubles as a drip tray as it slides in in the bottom. This means you could broil a steak or something directly on the rack and catch the fat drippings. Seems a bit messy to me, but it’s a thing you can do. Nice and compact. Careful where you put it, though. It gets HOT! Well constructed. Bakes, brooks, roasts, and reheats like a champ. CONS Outside gets super hot. Keep your kids away from the outside surfaces. I’m certain you can fry an egg on the top while it’s on. Haven’t tried, but it gets really hot. Be careful where you store it. I keep mine on top of the microwave and nothing over it. The baking sheet is nice, but since it doubles as a drip pan that fits into the underside of the wire rack, it’s a bit small. Investing in a slightly larger one will allow you to fit a few more fish sticks. It smells funny the first time you run it. They all do though. Just run it for 30 minutes on the highest setting and wash the tray, rack and crumb catcher with soap first and you’ll be good to go. That’s it! I will update if things change, but if this review stays like this, I’m still happy. Happy toaster ovening!

This is a simple yet fully reliable toaster. This particular model has a very even heat compared to the model I had from 8 years before. The only issues I have with this is the knobs are very round so if you have slightly greasy hands, the knob is impossible to turn on or off. Unlike other models where the knob has a holder this is hard to turn unless hands are very dry. Secondly the glass in front turns very hot and I do not see a small warning text on glass mentioning that for guests at home. Otherwise this works very well

I have still not used this item yet but when I received this item I realized that the oven is much smaller than what the description says. I do not recommend this item if you want to bake. This oven is only good for warming a sandwich or one small plate of food.

Things work great, but toast comes out uneven. I turned down the temperature and it is still unevenly toasted. Disappointed because my previous Black and Decker toaster oven was great for 8 years, then the elements went out. I thought the "convection" design would be better. No, it's just a marketing ploy.

I only give this product for stars because the size of it is very deceiving. I had a previous toaster oven that took up the entire counter space, and that's exactly what we needed to replace. This is so small it looks like an easy bake oven. However it does cook and toast and bake like a champ it's just too small.

Extremely small, none of the settings are accurate, the door has no springs so it has to be opened and closed very slowly, the door doesnt sit flush so heat escapes alot, the stainless steel is stained, the cord is only about a foot long so its very limited to where it can be placed. Overall i wish i never bought this.

Updating my review some months later: This thing burst into flames ( BIG FLAMES) within seconds last night. A small piece of pita had been pushed to the way back and not taken out and that's where the fire started. Still-- how is a mall piece of pita so combustible? There were HUGE FLAMES coming out of the toaster oven -- if my husband had stepped into another room our kitchen would have been a goner-- the fire was close to catching on the kitchen cabinets. Luckily the fire extinguisher was close by and we were able to use it. This was scary and I'm traumatized. I don't understand how a small piece of bread could have started a full blown fire in a toaster. We're pretty good at cleaning toasters and here and there I've seen some smoke from a crumb but this was something else. Be very, very careful. I'd steer clear of these. old review: I needed a toaster , nothing fancy, huge, or that performed other duties. I'd had a similar, older model of a B&D that had lasted a long time but had just given out. Super glad we got this. It's built well ( the other reviewer which said it was plastic was delirious-- it's metal and glass) and a few months in is doing its job super well. If you don't need a fancy gadget that does a ton of things besides toast and heat, get this one!

The knobs on this unit are probably the worst design I have ever encountered on a product. They are very hard to read, slippery and hard to grasp and the timer is so tight and the knob so hard to grasp that it is impossible for me to turn it to the proper position. The graphics on the knob are inaccurate. Where they show brown toast is actually a roaring fire in the toaster, where they show light toast is only burn't toast, etc. I rarely return items but I have rarely purchased such a badly designed item

I need a toaster oven primarily for toasting, but also for reheating things which shouldn't go onto the microwave. I'm not going to broil anything, and if I'm baking I'll use my full size oven. The toast color selection dial is a bit hard to turn, and the toast color is uneven.

The bottom dial is very difficult to turn. Also the automatic shutoff when the toast is done stopped working and the only way to turn the oven off was to pull the plug. This could be very dangerous and cause a fire if you are distracted. The cutoff date for a return was March 25, 2020. And of course it broke down shortly after. Very disappointing purchase!

It's a little low powered and always takes longer than instructions. A fry dropped off the pan one time and started a literal fire in the toaster oven and my apartments fire alarm went off. I always unplug it when I'm done because the heat element stays on a really long time otherwise when cooling down

You've got to be kidding me. This thing only works at the highest temperature setting when the timer is set to IT'S longest setting, so it only broils, and requires direct supervision. This is our second one of these, that functions in this way. I didn't realize that it was the same one when I ordered it, and now we can't even return it, because the densely populated areas of the country are on lockdown due to China's most recent black plague. My husband is furious with me for saddling us with this junk again. ...Oops. Heh...

I got this toaster oven a week ago. It works great for me. Its easy to clean and is pretty accurate on cook time. I use it to reheat pizza, wings. I use it to toast my bagels. I have no complaints

I hit toast timer but was unaware you also need to set how dark you want it toasted. Otherwise quality is great.

While we have been pleased over the years with B&D products this toaster oven failed. The controls knobs are very difficult to turn. We did not return it because we thought they would move more freely over time, that was a mistake. As seniors we find our ability to grip the dials difficult, slippery plus just hard to turn and turn accurately. The ability to set the degree of toasting is really a problem because of this difficulty causing us to stand over the oven and stop it when it reaches our preferred level of toasting. If you are a senior I would definitely not recommend this toaster oven.

This toaster is a good price and does what it is supposed to do with not a lot of bells and whistles. My elderly dad says the dials are harder to read than our previous model because the contrast is not good in lower light.

Basically a huge disappointment. The Black Print/Decal on the face of the oven was missing. I used a flashlight to read the faint indentations on the oven’s face. After 2 days I put it in an Elks charity sale. When I reread the original Amazon listing it said “used” yet it was new. The vendor should be ashamed of the bait and switch.

I love it and the size. Have only used it for toast so far. My only complaint is the dials, especially the bottom one, is hard to read and gauge. Wish it were numbered so I had an idea of which toast level I want. Good for the price.

It is not a convection oven, it is just a regular oven. It’s unfriendly to use, as you have to move the button after the 10 minute point and then return it to less, which feels as if you were damaging the button. It takes longer to heat than other ovens.

This is the third Black and Decker toaster I’ve owned over the last 20 years. The previous two worked perfectly. This new one is awful to make toast. Once you found the setting to make perfect toast, the next time it will burn at that setting. This is happening over and over. The round slick buttons are hard to turn. I still have 10 days left to return it. Will probably do that. I do not recommend this appliance.

Overall a great toaster oven for the price range. I ordered it as a gift for my mother but when it arrived it came in it’s manufacturer box which gave away the surprise ! Other than that the oven works great, feels sturdy, and looks absolutely incredible with a nice chrome like finish

This oven seems a little easier to use and clean than my old one. It is a little small, but for the price, that should be expected. I can still cook four pieces of toast in it at once, so this is fine for me. The only thing I don't like is the timer knob, which is smooth and a little hard to turn if your hands are wet or greasy from preparing food.

Received this today, first impressions: strong chemical smell that i hope burns off and doesnt return, timer sound is annoying as all heck but i dont eat toast so i can use the stay on option and my usual oven timer and voila problem solved. Slightly scared to eat these virgin-voyage chik’n nugs due to chemical vapor but oh well. I’m enjoying the concept of being able to cook my toddler a handful of fries at a time without heating the entire full oven and house.

The bad: 1. Made in China. 2. Very small. 3. It only has 2 heating elements, top and bottom. The "bake" and "warm" functions are a fraud. This device only grills & broils, with an option to select to heat. That is it. The good: 1. Compact. 2. Heats super fast. 3. The "Natural convection" function is total fraud. 4. Feels great quality for that size & price. Bottom line: PERFECT for a single person or a couple who already own a regular oven, as a wonderful appliance to broil, grill, toast and quick & easy to clean heating. NOT RECOMMENDED for any other setting that requires the functions of a regular oven or heating larger portions.

I was very pleased with this purchase it is much more convenient than using a normal conventional oven because you do not have to wait for it to preheat. I have not used my normal oven since purchasing this product. I am extremely pleased with the accuracy of the heat and timing features. This product is a great value for your money.

I admit I've only used this toaster once. It toasted my bread. That's all I want. It's easy to use. It's small, but that's fine. I don't need a large toaster oven. It has a crumb tray. Those always make cleaning easy. In spite of my poor eyesight and inability to bend over, I can read the dials. The instructions are clear and simple. I almost always like Black+Decker appliances. This one is great for something inexpensive. After I use it more, if I discover I don't like it, I'll let you know. I realize you hang on my every word.

Sadly, I’ve always purchased Black & Decker products. This one unfortunately was not a good one. The broiler function, beware, when boiling oily or greasy foods, sparks fly— Very scary and very dangerous. . Sadly, I’m beyond the window of returning this product And Amazon was not much of a help.. Will have to re-purchase another item however, not a Black & Decker.

Did not like the toast it produced. The toast was extremely dried out. I'm guessing because it took longer to toast than my old B&D toaster oven did. That could be due to only having two heating elements. My old one had 4 elements and did a great job, too bad it only lasted 20+ years. I gave the new one away on Craigslist and bought a Cuisinart that works very well.

I love my toaster oven. It has a sleek stainless steel design that goes perfectly with the decor I have in my apartment. The variety of settings makes it even better. This is why I chose to invest in a toaster oven instead of just a toaster. You can do SO much with it. I use it for toast/bagels, proteins (fish, chicken, etc.) and vegetables. It's also useful because I can avoid turning on the bigger oven which has a bigger impact on the power bill. I will say, it's not the easiest to clean (not the hardest either) because it's stainless steel, but if you buy a good cleaning product you're fine. The 4/5 stars for cleaning is no reason to discard considering this awesome product. Overall, very happy and would definitely recommend this product.

Gripping issues. This product looks nice, and from the few times I have used it, it seems to cook as intended. BUT, there are significant issues gripping the knobs, if your fingers are even slightly damp. If you already have gripping issues, this is definitely not for you! I bought this to replace a much old version of a B&D toaster, that was still working, but I wanted a new stainless look. The old one had knobs with edges/shaping you could grip, even if you had just put on hand lotion. This one has round knobs, with already slippery “stainless” look coating, and no edges/shaping to grip onto.

It looks really nice, but if you're looking for something with metal dials, don't be fooled, it's just plastic. I have this in my office for making my lunches and I couldn't be happier with it. Cooks everything I can put in it wonderfully and evenly. Hot sandwiches, grilled cheese, chicken, you name it. Has pretty much changed my food possibilities at work.

Purchased this Black & Decker product to replace a Black & Decker toaster oven that finally died after 6 years of regular use. I live alone and find it works beautifully for baking one or two pieces of bacon; thawing out individual pieces of pizza and toasting pine nuts and walnuts for use on other dishes. The only negative is that the smooth chrome knob on the timer is very difficult to turn to the left to turn off the unit. Other than that it is a good value for the money.

My 25 year old B&D toaster oven died so I decided to buy this one as a replacement. First thing I noticed was how light and flimsy the new toaster felt to it's older cousin. Second, this toaster suffers from a serious over design issues. Unpacking was easy and it looks great. I used it for the first time and it began to work as expected but after about 20 seconds into the toasting cycle the heating elements turned off & have never come back on.

I ordered this toaster oven, because I needed a cheap replacement. Pros: Price, pleasing to look at, ease in cleaning, quick and efficient heating Cons: When opening the door, the rack does not automatically extend out. I use a fork or spatula to grab the rack. The timer function is a little annoying. Turn the knob past ten then back to your desired time. It came shipped with a small dent. It is not bad enough for me to return it, so now I must live with it. (my fault)

Be careful when purchasing this cheap of a toaster oven. It has a really hard time not burning things very quickly, and above all, is likely to blow up while using it! The glass door actually shattered in the middle of baking food- not sure if this was a malfunctioning product or if this particular oven can’t handle it’s proper duties. I would recommend spending a little more on a toaster oven, if possible. If not, then beware of shattering glass and very burnt food.

I like the look of this, it’s very sleek and shiny chrome silver. The door opens but the rack doesn’t slide out when you open the door. That’s one thing I’d change. I burnt my fingers getting my toast out. It makes killer grilled cheeses! Overall I am glad I made this purchase and I would recommend it for toasting. I haven’t used and probably won’t use the convection oven setting, toasting is what I bought it for.

I sent a lot of time looking for a nice little oven like this and was always hesitant because of the reviews. I finally settled on this and it has been working fine since I got it. Made my life a lot easier now I don’t have wait 15 -20 mins to preheat an over for something small even more when I’m always on the run.

I really like this toaster! Oh it has a few areas in need of improvement, but it does exactly what I was hoping with B+ quality. Problems; it needs paddle type knobs, like those found on traditional ovens. The slick, smooth chrome knobs are completely wrong for this device. I also wish there was a second higher rack height, because my toast tends to get a little browner on the bottom, and a higher rack level would fix this. Also, I don't move the timer knob past 10 and then back to temp - I just set my desired time with one twist to the right. (I also toast at ~400 degrees, to get a more even effect.) If the paddle knobs and higher rack option were added, I'd say this toaster oven would be pretty much perfect, for my needs!

This toaster oven works so great and fits perfectly in our counter! Heats up to the Toast setting very quickly and is very easy to clean. I recommend lining the drip tray with tin foil to make it even easier to clean! By the way, when you open the door, the handle becomes the stand for the door.

This toaster oven may be convenient for popping in a burrito or to warm up a leftover, however it is not optimal for toast. The timing mechanism has such a small range that it either allows toast to burn, or doesn't toast at all. So if you are attracted to the cheaper price of this toaster, be forewarned and ready to stand by to prevent burning toast!!

This product fails on several levels. First of all, there is no on/off button; therefore, if your food is ready before the dial clicks and shuts off, the machine stays on even after you've removed your item(s). Second, it is difficult (for me impossible) to read the letters (the writing) under the dials. Third, when you open the door and you pull the pan out just a little, it slides right out and ends up either on the counter (if you're lucky); or as in my case it ended up landing around my upper waste area. Fourth, there is only one level for the rack to fit into, thus there is no option to have it higher or lower. The only plus is that it is attractive.

The Black and Decker - 4-Slice Toaster Oven is a sleek product that looks good in any kitchen. The stainless steel body is easy to clean and hard to scratch or dent. This product heats up your food without heating the whole house like a regular sized oven does. It has a variation of settings to heat any kind of food (including toast). It is a great multipurpose item. I highly recommend this item! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This in my third Black & Decker. I replace them every few years as they simply start to look used and ugly. But I like the B&D features, quality, price and looks. At $40 each, people reviewing these expect convection, thick outer casing that does not get hot, exact temperature, and more. It's a $40 toaster over that toasts bread, it toasts frozen waffles, it cooks small pizzas and appetizers (think Trade Joe's), it warms leftovers, and much more via three simple and easy to use dials. This toaster needed to match my stainless steel appliances and it does that beautifully, it works well, it's the perfect size, the timer shows minutes on it so I can actually time appetizers, etc... The timer makes a little ticking sound, they all do, but less than most and it is not at all a bother. $40

This is MUCH better than my previous toaster and I only had it for 1 year! It takes up very little space while still being able to hold 4 slices of bread, and it's not unnecessarily loud with ticking while in use. It's the least noisy toaster i've owned. The temperature settings are very true to life, so nothung has been burnt in this toaster. It's very easy to clean and looks nice. My only problem is that that the tray inside could be bigger and the indicater on the knobs are very unclear so you have to look very closely to see if it's set on the highest or lowest temperature. I tried my 4 slice B&D Toaster Oven. It toasts bread well, tbe heat is even and temp is good. This toastsr is small enough to leave on your countertop. You hv a knob for the temp up to 450 degrees and one for the timer/toasting. I did hv trouble the first use, you turn the toast knob to the 10 and turn back to toast shade. DO NOT turn past 10 or you will be stuck to the time and will hv to let it reset. There may be a way to reset/start over, but i could not see that in instructions. You rack inside will hd 4 slices as described. It will do the job for your morning pastries/toast. It is great for individual servings [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This 4 slice toaster oven from back and Decker is perfect for when you just need to heat up something quick and do not want to fire up your big oven to heat your house up. It is great on a hot summer day and need to bake some garlic toast, or even a couple of delicious cookies. The two control nobs make it very easy and simple to operate. I am satisfied with the size as well, it didn't take up too much counter top space. I would most certainly recommend this oven to anyone looking for an affordable and reliable option. This Black and Decker 4-Slice Toaster is perfect for a family or even just a couple. I honestly don't like toast in the toaster, so this worked out great for me. It will easily do 4 slices at one time quickly and to the level that you like. I was impressed by the small footprint of this toaster oven. I have a small kitchen, so this fit perfectly for me. It's also perfect to throw in some chicken nuggets or a frozen pizza for the kids. You can heat up things you'd rather not put in the microwave without heating up your entire kitchen. I was very impressed with this toaster oven and it will definitely get a lot of use! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought this because the size is totally perfect for my counter. As a single person, I use this little stove much more than my oven and love the convenience. I purchased this make to replace my Black and Decker over from about 1990. That one bit the dust and the top heater no longer worked. HOWEVER,,, there are some changes in this model. I miss the way the door closed so nicely in the old design. I also think the rack seems closer to top heating element. I loved the simplicity of the controls of the old model too. I know I will get used to it, but would have loved to have a 'new 1990' model! I did purchase 2 of these ... one for a spare for one of my adult kids or grandchildren as this size is perfect! Karen
