Does Crockpot use a lot of electricity?

Crock-Pot typically operate at 120 volts. This equates to 0.6 to 2 amps, depending on the source. They use around 70 watts when set to a moderate temperature and 250 watts when set to a high temperature, depending on the brand and type you choose. Everyone should be aware of how much electricity a crock pot uses before purchasing one. If you think about it, the crockpot uses roughly 250 watts of power on average. Crockpots actually help you save money. Crockpot settings are numerous. The wattage decreases as the crockpot's settings are lowered. Similar to this, the wattage of the crockpot increases with increasing settings. Therefore, by using these settings, you can consume less electricity. A wattage monitor can be used to specify the crockpot's power requirements for each set. As a result, you can select the wattage inverter for a crockpot that you need.

How much does a 4.5-quart crockpot hold?

It is ideal for family meals, soups, chilis, stews, and other dishes because the 4.5-quart size can feed 5+ people. The detachable stoneware pot and cover are dishwasher safe for quick cleanup after cooking and serving. Are programmable slow cooker worth it?

The capability of programming must be present. With a programmable slow cooker, you may specify the cook duration and heat setting (for example, 4 hours on low), and the appliance will switch to warm mode and lower the temperature when the time is up. Due to its numerous advantages, including hands-free cooking, energy conservation, and enhancing the flavor of most dishes, a slow cooker is worthwhile. Additionally, they encourage healthy cooking and are simpler to use than most kitchen appliances.

Are programmable slow cookers safe?

According to the US Drug Administration, slow cookers are generally secure. Between the low setting of 170° and the high setting of 280°F, they cook at a temperature that is safe. If the manufacturers' safe usage precautions of electrical appliance instructions are followed, slow cookers can be left unattended without risk. Having said that, slow cookers are both safe to use as culinary and electrical appliances. When compared to other kitchen appliances, such as a pressure cooker, the risk of fire mishaps when using a slow cooker is low. As long as the proper preparation procedures are followed, slow-cooked foods are often safe to eat.

What happens if you leave food in a slow cooker too long?

According to experts, you shouldn't cook meals in the slow cooker for a long period of time. Generally, you should only keep the food warm for 2 to 4 hours. Your food is then prepared to be moved to the refrigerator. Wondering why? The typical model has a warm setting of 145 degrees F. This is near to the USDA-designated danger zone. When the temperature ranges between 40 and 140 degrees F, bacteria begin to multiply. Because of this, if you leave food out too long after it has finished cooking and the temperature hasn't been maintained due to frequent lid opening and closing, the food may rot.

I bought this today and, after unpacking, packed it right back up to return... the hinged lid did not “seal” on the crock and i was able to jiggle it around on top of the crock. So disappointing.

I love this crock pot!!!! I’m working from home and sometimes I don’t have time to cook. I got it last night and I couldn’t wait to use it. I made a tortilla soup as you can see in the picture... it was so easy! Just put the ingredients in the pot and go to work! I really recommended for working moms and anyone who spend a lot buying food... this is easy, and healthy!

I have not used this yet, but there is a visible seam or raised area in the center of the pot. Some scratchesbon the outside. I purchased new but feel it may not be. Hoping the raised area is normal and will not crack when I use it tomorrow.

The box was damaged when received, it was not double boxed. Usually, the product is inside an Amazon box. Therefore, the crockpot has a dent on the side.

Has anyone else had a problem with your food tasting odd from this crockpot? I have done 3 roasts in this crockpot with the same recipe I have used for 20 years and it has the oddest, most off putting taste. Help!!!

I made a dump cake in the crockpot as my first use and was so disappointed to see it had scratches in the nonstick coating when I washed it! I used only a silicone spatula (no metal) and still had the scratches. Returned it and ordered one without nonstick coating.

Had to buy this one as a replacement for the old white one we had after my daughter dropped it, breaking the lid and cracking the inner crock. Works just as well as the last one and the non-stick coating is nice. The outside/base of the crock pot seems to be hotter to the touch than our last one, so be careful if you happen to accidentally bump into it. I got a pretty bad burn on my arm.

It is very rare I give a 'One Star' review, but this deserves it. The pot sits on four small soft rubber points that are located more to the sides, somewhat to the middle with no support on the front or rear. It wobbles. Don't try to slide it because the soft rubber doesn't slide well and these soft rubber inserts have popped out of the holes while trying to move the pot around the counter. I had to silicone the rubber points in place and glue some silicone support pads to the front and rear to stabilize the pot. This is a cheap and poor design. I my business I would not label this as safe.

This Crock Pot is easy to use and versatile enough to cook a lot of different foods at a lot of different temperatures. It's very temperature-accurate as well. The best part may be the non-stick coating in the cooking chamber which makes it very easy to clean. Highly recommended!

When I removed a sticky label (with the washing instructions) from the pot, flakes from the non-stick coating remained attached to the sticky side of the label. More flakes came off when the label was reapplied and again peeled off. I don't want those flakes in my food. I Returned this item immediately. Will try another brand.

Purchased this as a gift for my daughter but after she seemed to really like it I purchased one for myself. What I like about it is that it's programmable with having an automatic shut-off after cook time completion--great safety feature. The other feature that stood out to me was the hinged cover so you don't need to find a place to set the cover when dishing up the food on your plate--great design plan.

Absolutely love this slow cooker!! The lid stays on top and the counter does not get dirty from the lid when you take the cover off. Had issues with the heat staying on, but otherwise very happy! It is rather small compared to some of my other crockpots, but fits well in the fridge due to its smaller size, even with the lid on.

Dinner made quick and easy with the Crock Pot. Meal time at home is now a breeze. I usually throw frozen chicken nuggets in oven or make some mac and cheese. But I can have more substantial meals like home made soup/ chili, meatballs, or seasoned chicken or beef for stir fry or tacos. There are truly a ton of online recipes and functions to use the Crock Pot. Happy to finally add this to my kitchen!! Works perfectly and the interior bowl comes out for easy cleaning.

This crock pot does not have all of the latest bells & whistles, but it works just fine. The non-stick coating does make clean up easier. Even though it's not recommended for use in the dishwasher, it's easy enough to clean by hand after letting it soak for a bit. It's cooks fairly evenly, and I have not had issues with hot spots or uneven cooking. It's a great size -- was able to hold 6lbs of pork butt , but doesn't feel too big or take up too much counter space.

What a Nice, Easy to Use Crock Pot! Its a larger size 6 quarts! Fits a rack of ribs nicely or a larger pot roast so you can feed a crowd! It is east to use in that it has High Cook and Low cook and timers for 4, 6, 8, and 10 hours and it will automatically switch over to "keep warm" when the cooking time is over. The Crock itself as an easy to clean coating! I made a Black Forest dessert with Chocolate Cake and cherry Pie filling. Usually it is a sticky mess to clean up, but it washed out so easily with just soap, water, and a light dish cloth. Took maybe 1 minute to wash it up! The base is Stainless and cleans easily with just a damp cloth. The lid has a larger handle which made grabbing it with pot holder, much easier. The electrical cord is really short! I understand cords have been shortened to prevent them hanging off the counter for safety, but think this one was made Too short! The only suggestions I have for the next model are: 1) Lengthen the cord a little bit. 2) A count down timer would be nice so you can see how much time remains on your dish. Trying to synchronize other dishes in the meal is tough when you aren't sure when part of the meal will be ready. 3) Figure out a way to secure the lid for transportation. Overall a Great Product for a Great Price!

I've used this crockpot to make several yummy vegetarian meals. After putting it through several cooking tests, I've come to the conclusion that this particular crockpot is good, but not great. What I Like: -Does a good job of cooking soups and other meals. -Has six temperature settings. -Has a 6 quart capacity. -Easy to use. -Easy to clean. What I Dislike: -Exterior gets very hot. -Can't change the time for certain cooking temperatures (for example, you can cook on low for 8-10 hours, but not for 4-6 hours. The opposite is true for cooking on high). -Doesn't have a locking lid. -Doesn't have a countdown timer. -The cord is short and stiff. Overall, this is a decent crockpot, but it could be so much better.

I have had many crockpots over the years and this one is my favorite. The non-stick surface makes it a winner in my book because it wipes clean easily without leaving a ring of grime. The only downside to the non-stick surface is that the crock itself cannot be placed in the dishwasher and must be hand-washed. However, the lid may be placed in the top rack of the dishwasher. The crockpot has multiple heat settings that allow you to select with a push of a button and it automatically switches to the warming setting once cooking is complete so you don't have to worry if you are late getting home. The only thing I could see would be a problem is transporting this crockpot, as the lid does not lock. That is not a dealbreaker for me, though, since I only use it at home. My meals come out perfect every time in this crockpot. In fact, I have salsa chicken cooking in it as I type this review. Place frozen chicken in the crockpot, pour a jar of salsa over it, and set to low for 8 hours. After cooking it is ready to shred and serve in tacos, burritos, or as we like it, as a burrito bowl with rice and black beans. YUM!

The controls are very straightforward. All you really have to do is turn it on and choose the time / temperature you need it to cook for. They aren’t lying when they said it’s easy to clean. I washed mine (by hand obviously) and everything came off it very easily. It was super easy to clean, no complaints there. The pot is super heavy, as it should be, but the other part of the cooker is incredibly lightweight. It’s not the easiest thing to store but I wouldn’t expect it to be. I don’t think what Ive made turned out amazing but I also wasn’t following a recipe. Figuring out the right timing of adding ingredients is important to the quality of what you make. That being said, it IS super convenient! The last thing I want to do when I get off work is spend an hour making dinner. It’s nice to be able to come home to find that dinner is already made!

As a very busy mom of two who cooks exclusively from scratch, I am a huge fan of crock pots. Load up your ingredients in the morning and by evening you have a delicious hot meal waiting for you. It's a true life saver on my busiest days. This model is an upgrade from the very basic but well loved one I've been using in my kitchen for years. It is programmable and automatically changes itself to warming mode once the program has ended. This feature really helps to not worry about overcooking your meal. The 6 quart size is very generous and allows you to cook large roasts, like pot roast or a whole chicken. It's very convenient for feeding a large family. My gripe is when it comes to the non-stick coating. My older model crock pot is ceramic and I've never had trouble with sticking. I think the non-stick coating on this model is unnecessary and I worry about the safety of the coating itself. It also says not to put this one in the dishwasher to maintain the non-stick coating, so is the coating also being depleted every time I put food in it? Leaching into the food? It makes me wonder!! Another gripe with this model is that the outside gets VERY hot, much hotter than my older model (which is black). I think it must have something to do with the exterior being metallic. Make sure to keep this (or any) crock pot out of reach of children and pets. Overall, this is a great tool for busy families. I find it especially useful in the colder seasons for making soups, stews, roasts, and bone broth. I recommend a crock pot for any kitchen, although I would skip this model with the non-stick feature.

Nothing like a slow cooked meal that just slowly fills the house with aroma that just has you patiently wait until dinner time for that payoff you have been waiting for. This Crock Pot is easy to use, plug it in,, set how long you want to cook, and then comes the waiting game. There are four setting, four, six, eight, and ten hours. When the time is over, the pot automatically switches to warm so if you are not around when it is done cooking, it does not get too cold. Then comes the fun part where you get to eat what you have been waiting for all day. With a size of six quarts, you can feed plenty, the box says seven plus, but I did not need to fill this up that much. When you are done eating, it is time to move on to the not so fun part, but sine this has a non-stick ceramic coating, it is actually daily way to clean no how much of a mess you made inside while cooking. It does have to be hand cleaned as it is not dishwasher safe but the stoneware is removable so it is easy to take to your sink. So this is definitely something worth taking a look at if you like getting your dinner ready in the morning so you have to make little effort to cook in the evening. .

It's Crock Pot season at my house ~ fall and winter bring with them lots and lots of warm comfort food, and love this Crock-pot 6 quart Smart-Pot Programmable Slow Cooker with Easy Clean, in Stainless Steel finish, for it. I am ecstatic that finally I can set my crock pot for 6 or 8 or however long and it will automatically put itself on warm once it hits that time ~ whether I'm at home or work! Many times in the past I've left it on high thinking I'd make it back and over cooked things, so this is a huge thing for me. Also ~ the crock itself is SO easy to clean!! My last crock pot ~ which I'm keeping for a back up ~ wasn't super difficult to clean, but I still had to do some serious scrubbing to get everything from around the edge area. Not with this baby! Food just rinses right off it ~ by hand, or in the dish washer! I love it!

This is a 6 quart crock pot with 4 temperature settings - plus it switches to warm after the amount of time has elapsed. There are two lower settings and two high settings. Also, clean up is really simple with this non-stick surface. I was really happy with the lentil soup I made which needed to cook all day. It came out delicious and evenly cooked. You should know that the crock pot exterior gets very hot while cooking. Brushing up against it once was enough for me to make a note to mention it in my review - it was really hot. Also, unlike some crock pots, this one doesn't have a locking lid so you will need to be careful when transporting it. Also, it's quite large - I don't have a cupboard large enough for it quite honestly. I have standard size cupboards from 30 years ago and this is too wide to close the cupboard door where I was planning on keeping it. The biggest thing to note is the very short cord that is attached. I was surprised it was so short and found a way to make it work in my kitchen. Despite all these things, it's a giant step up from the porcelain crock pot I had - I like the way it cooks and cleans up so much more. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Much better than the metal nonstick inner pots. I have always found my round stone insert crockpot cooked more evenly and sufficiently than the metal ones. Now I finallyhave an oval stone crockpot I am very excited. I can fit larger roasts than my round one but still get the good cooking quality provided by crockpot and the stone cookware inside. This is a no brainer

The purpose of the crock pot is to enable the cook to assemble ingredients and then slowly cook them over several hours while they attend to other matters. This style of cooking works wonderfully and has produced countless memorable meals while the cook is at work and his attention is elsewhere. The assumption is that you will not need to concern yourself with the appliance bubbling away in your home as it safely cooks your dinner. I wish I could have that confidence in this latest offering from the original slow cooker company but… This appliance gets so hot on every surface except the lid handle that it is easy to find yourself burned by an accidental touch. The heat is good for cooking your food, but I’ve never had a slow cooker that transmitted this much heat to the outer surfaces. If you are going to leave this alone with no one home, make sure it is sitting on a granite counter with nothing around it and no people who might be tempted to touch it. Did I say it cooks just fine? “Programmable” is also a bit of a stretch. The substitute of a modern looking control panel might lead you to think that you can fine tune your recipe, but the switches simply choose the high or low temperature range and two cook times each within that temperature. It does switch to warming as promised at the end of the time but that is the extent of the automation. It does slow cook the food just fine though… I’m happy with the function of the slow cooker as it does perform its life purpose as promised. The lower quality construction and the burn issues spoil that promise for me. Am I asking too much?

I like being able to have more heat settings. This pot has 6 temperature settings as opposed to the 3 that my former crock pot had. I find the non stick surface on the ceramic pot helpful but not really necessary. I would have liked to have seen a timer that would tell me the amount of time left to cook. I dislike how hot the exterior gets so be careful if you brush up against it...you won’t do it twice. I also would like to have seen a locking lid so things don’t slop out when you need to transport it. I would like to have had a much longer cord. I have only one place to plug in my pot and a longer cord would allow me to push it to one side while cooking. All in all, I don’t think this is a big improvement over the standard crockpot.

This is your basic crockpot without bells and whistles. It slow-cooks nicely and is easy to clean ( I soak then scrub). I do wish it had some type of digital timer to let you know how long your food has been cooking or has left to cook. In this day and age that seems like a basic function. But if you're looking for a nice, old-school crock pot at an affordable price, this one will do the trick.

I'm loving it. I got it out to use for the first time to make chili. My old crock pot took nearly half the day to just get to the boiling point, well, with this new digital crock pot, it has settings that start out on high 4-6 hour cook time to low 8-10 hour cook time. I set initially at 4 hour, got it to boiling within an hour's time, turned it down to the low 10 hour time for the rest of the day. I love this digital cooking era we live in.

This is my...9th Crock Pot. Or, there abouts. I love crock cooking but am always looking for minor improvements. This one delivered a big improvement. The inside of the crock has a non-stick coating. If you've ever used a crock for a long slow cook and had to soak and scrub residue out, you know how huge this little detail is. I have never had a crock clean up this easily or quickly. It still looked brand new after we had cooked an especially messy, tomato based dish. I'll also add that I like the new style of handle on the lid. It's bigger than models in the past few years and much easier for my pudgy fingers to get a decent grip on. The rest of the design is pretty standard. The programmable cooking time is always a nice feature. If you don't mind non-stick items, this is the Crock Pot to buy!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Several features make this crockpot convenient. First, after the time selected for the crockpot to cook has passed, an automatic switch comes on to a warm setting. There are also four time settings from which to choose, a low setting for 8 or 10 hours, and a high setting for 4 or 6 hours. A small booklet is included with specific instructions for cooking pasta and rice, beans, vegetables, herbs and spices, milk, soup, and meats. Some recipes follow. I used the chili recipes to try the crockpot and was pleased with the results. The cooking tool is attractive with a stainless-steel finish and holds six quarts. I like that the pot is horizontally-oriented, and the inside bowl is ceramic coated. Clean-up was easy with a sponge and hot water. The ceramic coated bowl cannot be placed in the dishwasher but can go in the oven. The crockpot is easy to use and promises to be a workhorse in the kitchen.

This crockpot is amazing! It is definitely a good thing to have if you are making dinner. One thing I like about is that it get the meat so tender after it cooks. It is also a relatively safe device. You can program it to slow cook while you are away from the house even. I usually leave it to slow cook while I am at work. I set the timer for when to start and it will shut off once I am home and ready for dinner. One thing I will say is when using a slow cooker to always keep it in a ventilated room with nothing directly above it. There is steam that comes off of the top and it can actually damage things above it from the moisture. The space in this crockpot allows me to essentially cook enough food for my family and I. I love cooking chicken (be sure to use a thermometer to check if it is a cook evenly) and pot roast in this thing. It is very easy to do. All you honestly need to do is fill up the pot with all the receipes and set the timer. It is pretty safe with the programming and will shut off when the timer reaches zero. It is a slow cooker so it does not get super hot and just slowly cooks food making it super tender. It evenly distributes the heat and it is easy to handle. The handles on the side make it very easy to carry around. The handles do not feel hot even after a full cook but always use your best judgement and check before handling. The lid is make of glass so handle with care as to not drop it and shatter it. The user interface is very easy to follow and the presets make it so you basically just set and walk away. The inside is very easy to clean. You can remove the inside container and wash it. I do not recommend putting this in the dish washer and to dry immediately after was to avoid any damage to the steal. Overall this is a great 6 quart cooker. You can cook very easily and effectively for your family. It does a good job with cooking and sealing the flavor in.

This crock pot will come in handy for the upcoming holiday season and works as a secondary crockpot to my larger one! I love cooking in a crock pot! With my busy schedule, my family eats a lot of slow cooked food throughout the year and I have had a few different ones over the years. This one would rank somewhere in the middle. It’s got a nice, durable nonstick interior and it’s pretty hefty and feels like it will last. The programming for cook times is pretty simple but, very basic in that it doesn’t give a lot of options. The one worry I would have with this crock pot is that it feels extremely warm on the exterior of the unit itself. I’ve never experienced this unless it was a very old crock pot. A bit concerning but, I would just say that it’s best to keep away from smaller hands. Would recommend as a “my first crock pot” or as a secondary for holiday cooking.

Overall I'd say this is an okay crockpot. Nothing fancy or special. Pros: . Nonstick crock is much easier to clean than a standard ceramic crock. Literally wipes clean with a paper towel. . Oval shaped crock. . Flush time/temp controls so no knob sticking out which is good when transporting to a party. . The faux stainless steel exterior is easy to clean and looks decent. . The handles are not solid but have openings for fingers to go though which, for me, makes it easy to grab, hold, and carry. . When cooking is over it switches to Warm. Cons: . Short stiff cord. . Exterior gets really, really hot. . No countdown timer. . Cannot customize the setting; Low is 8 and 10 hours, High is 4 and 6 hours. . Cannot set to Warm.

This is pretty good if you want a large starter crockpot. You can make stews, chilis, pulled pork and chicken, and tons of other stuff, and the non-stick interior is pretty easy to clean up. On the downside: 1) I would love a programmable timer with a readout. You can set this to 4 or 6 hours on high and to 8 or 10 hours on low, but nothing longer, shorter or in between, and it doesn't show how much longer you have to cook. 2) At this point, it's worth considering spending a little more money and getting a multicooker, which takes up similar space in your kitchen but also allows for pressure cooking and a lot more.

It does the job theres no doubt about that. However theres no venting hole on top of the lid, you cant cook for 6hours on low, and the high is REALLY high. It's very nice looking, seems easy enough to clean, but its definitely not the best crockpot I've ever had :(

Edit: This just made it through its first Thanksgiving. I made a corn bread casserole. I might have overcooked it a little, and it burned on the sides. It did not stick to the sides. Simple cleanup! My sister, who cleaned the crock pot, asked what I did to make it so easy to clean. She couldn’t believe it. Updating from 4-star to 5-star. Original: If you're in the market for a Crock Pot, get the non-stick version. It's worth it. But...I really wish this had a countdown feature like my other crock pot. If this doesn't matter to you, then you won't be disappointed with this one. You can set the timer for 4 or 6 hours on high, and 8 or 10 hours on low (pretty standard), and it switches to warm when done. I just always forget when I put something in the oven 10 minutes ago, let alone 5-6 hours ago. The non-stick surface is really nice. It really is easier to clean than the regular porcelain-enameled stone crocks you're used to. Especially if you're like me and just let it soak overnight in the sink - then it's a piece of cake. The oval pot is standard-sized, so you can swap it out with other units. Like my other crock pot that has a countdown :-)

The outside gets very very hot!! I have never had a crock pot get so hot. I’m nervous to leave it alone. It has a very short cord also which is very annoying especially since you have to make sure nothing is near the crockpot because it gets so hot.

We have had a crockpot for quite some time and I wanted a bigger one. This is a 6 quart. We had a 4 quart. I always liked mine but wish it had a light to tell me it was on and also wished it was bigger to fit a roast better without cutting it up. This is going to be great. I love that it's not a lot deeper, just wider and longer but still oblong in shape. It does not take up a lot more room than my other one and looks great on our counter. I made a pot roast in it and it worked out great. It was indeed easier to clean and stuff did not stick to it as much. The only thing that I do not like is that it says to not put it in the dishwasher to make the coating last longer. I'm planning on still putting it in the dishwasher because I like everything to be sterilized between uses. If I need to replace the crock sooner that is not a big deal to me. I honestly do not care that much about the coating anyway as long as it's safe. I'm loving the controls on this. I can set it for a longer time on low or the shorter times on high. Once it's done it automatically shifts to warm. How convenient. I do sort of wish it had a count down or actual timer but for the current price this is a great deal. I was able to try this CrockPot through Tryit Sampling. I was excited by the footprint of the crockpot. It is less bulky and large like my older crockpot The lid is hinged and even has a nice silicon or plastic seal around the lip of the lid. It is very handy to flip up the lid and not have to fuss with finding a spot to place a lid that is more than likely full of condensation from the cooking process. It easily pulls out to clean with little hassle. I put a chicken breast, butter, spices in my crock pot and easily selected a 10 hour, low program. I was a bit concerned if it took my selection, as there was not a confirm blink or sound to indicate it was locked in. The first few times using a product, it is always awkward learning how something works. I came home and it was past the 10 hour preset program. The crockpot switched over to warm. This was nice, as my old one is on or manually shut off. The crockpot worked well, was easliy able to be cleaned up. Crock is dishwasher safe and cleaned up easily and it cleaned very well. My biggest drawbacks with this crockpot is as follows: 1) electrical cord fairly short. I do not like having my crock all day on my countertops. But rather on my glass stovetop. This cord is just about too short to fit comfortably. I was able to keep it on the stove, but it was pused all the way back and to the countertop corner. That us a bit too tight to.the countertop for my comfort. 2) the hinged lid is nice, fits well but it is hard (not impossible) to put crock in or pull it out easily. It is not hard to pull lid off and pull out crock. But it would be much better to be able to put crock in and pull out without special wiggling around or maneuver the crock around the lid and hinge. I was happy to be able to try the crock, pleasantly suprised with the small size, handy lid, and quick, easy programming. This is a very nice crockpot , and I will enjoy using for parties and work food days with little mess and no worries about hamdlinf the lid to get a serving, etc. The only thing that could make this better would be a spoon, serving utensil built in the crockpot lid somehow [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought this a week ago and I'm glad I did this 4.5 Quart oval size Crock-Pot original slow cooker is a great find it's very durable comes with a lid that opens and closes it's very convenient and easy to use . It's pre programmed and the controller cooks up to 10 hours it will automatically shift to a warmer setting , you can choose what setting is best for your food you are making that day I made 5 stuffed peppers I added a little water on the bottom 4 hours on high it came out soft full of flavor and just feel apart in my mouth cooked my food Perfecto !! Its definitely a great size for any family or party gatherings it can feed up to 5 + people . I really like how the lid is on a detachable hinged making it easy to clean please make sure to unplug the cooker and let cool before cleaning the stone wear and lid and always make sure not to use any scouring pads or anything abrasive it can destroy it anything plastic or rubber material is best when trying to get left over food out , Please use a lightly damped cloth to wipe with soap and water no harsh chemicals and never submerged your your heating base into water !!. Great benefits you can do is use your stoneware in the oven and microwave it's not Broiler safe !! Please make sure to remove the lid prior to use . You will get great benefits out of this great product comes with program settings of 4/5 hours on High or 6/10 on Low great quality it is also come with full instructions and a added bonus of some great tasting recipes easy to store as well . I bought this crock pot a few months ago. It's not cooking - barely gets warm. I'm so disappointed. Only tried to use it twice. It takes more than 16 hours to cook a small roast and that's rare!
