Although I'm not sure I would, it probably could. To avoid burning or smoking, it would need to be continuously watched because wax melts at a rather high temperature. My main concern then would be cleaning; after that, you could freeze it and peel the wax off. Since I live alone in a 31-foot fifth-wheel travel trailer with a tiny kitchen and limited refrigerator space, I got mine to use for cooking. I really enjoy the outcomes when I cook with it. I have cooked a tiny "pot roast" with veggies, a small amount of vegetable soup, etc. in it numerous times. Things like breakfast casseroles with eggs, sausage, and cheese work great in it.

There is no switch to turn it on or off. It is a warner.

Does it have a "Low" or "High" control, if that makes sense. Not at all, no. It maintains a constant temperature that falls in between low and high. Food is not burned by it. I frequently use it for cheese dip, and it always maintains the ideal temperature.

Although the amperage is not stated on the item itself, it can be determined using Ohm's law, which states that voltage equals current times resistance. I won't go too scientific, but the amperage works out to be.292 amps, or roughly 1/3 amps, based on the measurements on the bottom of the crock pot. My house now smells AMAZING thanks to the mulling spices and plenty of water! Simply keep an eye on the water level and make sure it's always filled because if the water runs out, the mulling spices will burn.
