Is it cheaper to use a Crock-Pot SCCPVS642-S Programmable cooker than an oven?

Saving money by using a slow cooker Even though the slow cooker will be on longer than if you were cooking in an electric oven, you won't be paying more on power because they consume a lot less. Additionally, slow cookers work well with inexpensive vegetable and meat variations.

Is manual or Crock-Pot SCCPVS642-S Programmable Slow Cooker better?

Crock pots with programming give you additional control. You can specify a precise cook time, and when it expires, the cooker switches to the Warm setting. Because slow cookers today cook considerably "hotter" than they did a few decades ago, this is useful when you will be away from home for extended periods of time. With a programmable slow cooker, you may specify the cook duration and heat setting (for example, 4 hours on low), and the appliance will switch to warm mode and lower the temperature when the time is up.

Crock-Pot SCCPVS642-S Programmable Slow Cooker Performance

The Crock-Pot 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker strikes the ideal balance between simplicity and intelligence. Although it only has two temperature settings (low and high), the quantity of distinct cook times is quite astounding. Even better, it has a handy locking cover that keeps the contents heated while in transit. The slow cooker will automatically switch to the Warm setting once cooking is finished to maintain the perfect serving temperature for your food.

How Much Electricity Does a Crock-Pot SCCPVS642-S Programmable Slow Cooker Use?

In fact, you can be using almost twice as much energy to cook in your slow cooker depending on how big it is compared to your stove. How much depends on a number of factors, including the size of the oven element, the insulation of the oven, the size of the slow cooker, the cooking temperature, and the baking and cooking durations, to mention a few. The most straightforward answer is that while your slow cooker uses "no more energy than a light bulb" to cook, your oven cycles on and off repeatedly. A Crock Pot uses less energy than traditional ovens since it is made to keep a constant temperature, as opposed to stoves, which turn their burners on and off when heat is required. The issue with this is that a slow cooker like a Crock Pot uses between 70 and 250 watts while an electric stove uses between 2,000 and 3,000 watts. Further, contemporary Crock Pots have a built-in meat temperature sensor that automatically switches the appliance to warm mode when the correct temperature is attained. By preventing the dish from cooking for longer than required, this feature helps you conserve energy.

Had this a little over a year. Was making soup today and everything was fine for about 6 hours, went to add some last minute ingredients and after I put the lid back on it shattered.

I love the versatility, but this will be the second time I've had to return the crock pot to the store. After 3 or 4 uses there is a loud popping sound during cooking, and then when you pick up the base there is something rattling around loose in the bottom. Highly disappointed. Once I can understand, these things happen, but twice means there must be a design flaw.

I love using crockpots to make dinners a snap, and thought this one would be great with the different sized crocks. However, using the smaller crocks was disappointing in that the food never got cooked! I used the middle sized crock, and 4 hours later, the soup had barely warmed at all! I placed it in the large crock, and voila, hot in less than a hour. Needless to say, we ate something else that night since dinner wasn't ready. Am I missing something? I want to love this crock pot like I did my first model that I owned for 13 years... if the smaller crocks don't cook like the large one, then I really overpaid for the same size crock I had before. The large size crock cooks great and I love the buttons and timer feature, so there's my two stars for those, but I can't give more stars to a product that doesn't work as advertised. I rated my quality and value as if everything worked properly.

I like that i have the versatility to change sizes from functions to just the 2 of us but I am really having trouble with the heat settings. I have High, High and High it seems. Even on warm it bubbles and burns so I cant trust it. I am seeking assistance from CrockPot. I hope they can resolve this as I have to monitor it which defeats the purpose. I dont think all of them are like this...

This crockpot is great. Seems to be very sturdy and durable. I love the different inserts that it comes with and using it was a breeze. The clean up afterwards was even easier. Would definitely recommend this product. *I received this product as a sample to review* [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The Crock Pot Choose a Crock provides great value, as you get three crock pot sizes in one! There is the standard six quart, great for things like soup and feeding a crowd; a four quart pot for smaller meals; and a split four quart pot, which is perfect for dips. So far, I've only used the six quart and four quart pots but I am very happy to own this product! There is a digital timer so you don't have to bother watching the clock, and when your food is finished cooking, the crock pot immediately switches to a warm setting. Super convenient if you aren't home! And the cherry on top of this amazing crock pot? The stoneware can be thrown into the dishwasher. If you're in the market for a new crock pot, I highly suggest this one." [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The choose a crock crockpot is a great product and idea.I love the different sizes of crocks and the fact that all the crocks stack together for easy storage.I have used all three of the crocks and they work great.I have noticed that the newer oval models of slow cookers have a faster cooking time than the older taller models, this is also true with this model of crock pot.MY favorite feature of this crock pot is the divided crock.I have only used this to warm up dips for a get together so far, but am excited about the possibilities of it.The divided crock is great for cooking for two people. This model has a timer that switches to warm when the time is up.This feature is a life saver for someone like me that gets busy and easily forgets to either turn off the slow cooker or switch to warm. The only thing I would change is to have the lid fit tightly into the crock as there is a small gap. This really isn't that big of a deal though because the crock pot cooks GREATI love this crock pot and would definitely recommend it! I received this Crock Pot as a sample to review but I already have a couple people in mind that I will buy one for as a gift. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I love this crock-pot! Finally I have a choice in bowl size when preparing my food. High quality construction makes for ease of use. The only drawback to this unit, is it is heavy. When all the pieces are together it is heavy. I store the unit in a lower cabinet, so to avoid dropping,I have to remove the unit one piece at a time. Even though it is heavy it is worth every ounce in having different pot sizes for the same base. Thanks Crock-Pot for creating this awesome cooking device! I was given this product to test before it was released to the market. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have always been a big fan of “The Crock-Pot” product. This particular model was just an extra plus! I really loved having the choice of three different size containers that nest together for easy storage. In addition, there were three settings to choose from (high, Low, and warm) and this Crock-Pot cooked my meals beautifully. Disclaimer: I received this product as a sample to review. I have been the proud owner of the Crockpot Choose-A-Crock for almost two months and absolutely love it. This crockpot enables you to cook a 6 Quart, 4 Quart or Two side by side 2.5 Quart recipes with the same base. All you do is pick what pot will fit your cooking needs. I have been finding reasons to use my Crockpot Choose-A-Crock ever since I received it. Because of this appliance, I was able to remove all the bulky different sized slow cookers from my cabinets and make my life more organized in the kitchen. The outside of the crockpot does get a bit hot during use, so use caution when handling. It is programmable and simple to use which means no more over cooked meals. This is an innovative problem solver for my kitchen in so many ways! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
