We have 3 crock pots 2 are programmable with locking lids and one is a 4 quart manual operation. I'm not sure what people are cooking in these things but it is almost impossible to burn something in a “slow cooker†smh Maybe you should try reading a crock pot recipe. Or adjust your cooking times. These are great products. Also you can cook things in the oven with the ceramic bowl too, as I found out during deer camp this year. Good luck!
