Great quality grill that does it all. Out of the box my first impression was this looks beautiful. 2 Cast iron grill plates for grilling and griddle surfaces can be used for so many different options. The first thing I made was shrimp and vegetable skewers with the open flat option. I was impressed with the even cooking and ease of setting my cooking preferences on the controls. I have made the most perfect burgers, grilled vegetables and amazing paninis using the flex press system. I love how each plate has its own temperature controls, this comes in handy when making two different items that require different cooking temperatures. I went out and purchased the optional waffle plates and I am completely satisfied with the performance on those as well. Note: waffle plates are not included in this box. The display is bright and easy to read and the controls are extremely simple to work with. clean up is simple with the cleaning tool that is included in the box, then a quick wash and you're good to go. This countertop cook system (SO much more than just a grill!!!) is absolutely amazing! Ive used a George Foreman for years to cook paninis and burgers, but the size, temperature control, and flexibility this grill provides surpasses my old one in every way! I was super impressed by the quality of this appliance. This is not yourdorm-room George Foreman grill. It has two large, heavy duty, detachable grill plates that can each be adjusted for temperature independently. You can use the grill in a number of different ways (e.g., fully open, panini press, etc.) Although my model did not come with waffle plates, I am excited to get them and see how it works! What a cool kitchen tool. This unit is amazingly flexible and just works fantastically. The fact you can cook everything from paninis to burgers to steaks on the grill plates to eggs on the griddle - and cleanup is a BREEZE! The plates pop off easily (and are dishwasher safe!) and you can swap one or both between griddle and grill quickly. I love that I can my my 5 teens eggs and sausage at the same time, then throw on some pancakes. The drip tray is great because it is centered between the two sides. So when you have it in press mode, everything drains as expected, but then when you open it up flat into griddle mode, both sides drain to the center tray. Very smart! Controls are simple. Turn the dial to your desired temp and press start. One dial for the upper and one for the lower plate. A small button in the center of each dial enables sear mode for a quick, higher temp burst of searing heat - great for sealing in steak juices! If I had any minor nitpick I'd prefer a longer cord, but I'm guessing with both plates at high temp this unit would draw a pretty decent amperage, and the shorter cord is a necessity. It's not inconvenient by any means. Surfaces are VERY nonstick and simple to clean. It even includes a tool to quickly scrape down the grill plates for ease of cleaning. I'm beyond impressed with the quality of the DeLonghi All Day Grill. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and very versatile. It has quickly become my husbands favorite kitchen appliance. I was very impressed by how easy it was from set up to finish. The cooking options on this grill are endless. For it to contribute to my healthier eating habits was a definite plus for me. I tried out a NY strip steak as the very first thing I put on it. It was a nice thick piece. I read the instructions and let it stay on the grill for around 6 minutes, both parts on sear 450 degrees. It had really nice grill marks afterwards. However, after using my meat thermometer, I found that it was very uneven. I tried another NY strip steak and used the flat plates. That one worked better at cooking evenly. It is a heavy grill and must be held with two hands. I love that it has a locking feature. I love the digital temperature settings. This is a great grill! This grill is awesome!! It allows me to be able to grill no matter what the weather is like, because I can do it inside!! The size is perfect for grilling multiple items, meats and sides, and the digital face makes it easy to use and understand. This DeLonghi live a All Day Grill is perfect for those meals where you want a good steak,chicken or even pancakes and eggs for breakfast it cooks fast has outstanding grill marks and can be used at different temperatures from top to bottom..I really enjoy making my meals on the grill I also love the digital display and searing options and the variety of grill plates to interchange on the grill. I've heard rave reviews of DeLonghi products for years, and now that I've experienced the Livenza All-Day Grill, I understand what the hoopla is all about. The quality of this appliance is so far above any other small appliance brand I've ever used-- I'm talking professional-level quality. The Livenza is heavy and well-constructed right down to the details, like the smooth way the hinged lid opens and closes, and the brushed stainless design. The controls are versatile without being too complex; I was able to figure them out even before I read the handy "get started" guide. Already, I've made waffles, paninis and grilled chicken breasts, and the results were perfect. Compared to the counter-top grill I previously owned, this one heats up super fast-- a time-saver I appreciate! The plates are easy to swap out, and they clean easily, too. The only slight negatives for my small-ish kitchen are the substantial size of the grill and the need to store the interchangable sets of grill plates; but this appliance is so versatile, it will replace my waffle maker, griddle and countertop grill.
