Farberware electric pressure cooker: pasta
3 years ago

The Smartypants mommy tries making pasta in her electric pressure cooker for the first time. You can look up a recipe for pressure cooker macaroni and cheese on Allrecipes.com if you want a recipe with exact measurements. I didn't use that recipe, but it's the recipe I based mine on. For the macaroni and cheese that I made (if you're okay with winging it a little) I used 1 lb of pasta, 2 cups of water, 1 cup of heavy cream, about 8 oz of Velveeta (cubed), 5 slices of sharp cheddar cheese, ground mustard, paprika, and a touch of cayenne pepper. I also used Johnsonville jalapeno and cheddar sausages, sliced up and added to the pressure cooker pot. Then I selected the soup/stew button, pushed the "time cook" button, lowered the cook time to 7 minutes, and pushed

I have wanted an instapot for over a year now just so happened to be looking for a new crockpot and this little gem caught my eye. For a qaurter of the price of an actual isntapot you get the same effects. I have done a roast dinner in 45 minutes, since potatos take 2 hr in oven its a keeper for sure! As a toddler mom set it and forget it is my favorite motto!

I really like this cooker but the instructions could have been more clear. We couldn't figure out why we couldn't set there timer on some settings then after 20 minutes or so we just left it because it was making a slight sound. After about 10-15 minutes the timer came on and it started coming. We're assuming the time before that was for building pressure. The manual should tell you that. Otherwise I'm loving this cooker, cooked my meals perfectly!

So far, for the price, I really like this cooker! Easy to clean. I've made veggies which turned out amazing, took little effort and cooked quickly. I also made a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, celery and onion and it was outstanding. Be sure to add 30 minutes to cooking time for the pot to pressurize. Really awesome!!

I just purchased this item today. I only cook using pressure cookers and crockpots. So I was excited to use this device which merged the two kitchen appliances into one. Unfortunately, my unit is defective. It does not stay in any of the functioning modes. It turns on and appears to be running but then after about 10 seconds the interface starts flashing an error symbol and beeping. The legend in the user manual says my E1 error message means "Bottom sensor open circuit" but does not say how to fix that. I've been trying to troubleshoot the pressure cooker with no avail. I'm going to call customer service when they open but I will more than likely return the unit and purchase another brand.

I have tried beef stew, potato soup, baby back ribs, and spaghetti. So far, I am pleased with the performance of this product. Only thing negative I can say is the recipe book is very vague. I have gone online to retrieve recipes and watch videos. I hope to continue to enjoy using this cooker.

So far I'm very pleased! I found the manual helpful and I got a recipe book too! Easy to operate. Takes about 15 minutes from cold to build pressure so next time I'll plan for that. Very happy with this product!

I bought this Faberware pressure cooker last week and so far have used it to make two meals with great success. First meal was pot roast with potatoes and the second meal was bean and ham soup. Both meals turned out perfect. As many other reviews say, the instruction manual isn't the most helpful but it does tell you the extreme basics. You can learn a lot more about using electric pressure cookers by watching YouTube videos. It does come with a little cookbook to get you started. I used the bean soup recipe from it and it turned out very tasty. Things I love about the pressure cooker is - it's easy to clean, doesn't make all the noise that a traditional pressure cooker does, and allows me to make great tasting meals in a relatively short amount of time. I was a big fan of crockpot cooking but I usually don't have time in the morning to get the ingredients together and going before I leave for work. With the pressure cooker I don't have to decide the night before what I'm going to make for supper and have it all ready to go for the crockpot in the morning. The only real improvements I can think of is the manual but like I said, there's plenty of info on YouTube to solve that problem. I'm definitely happy with this purchase.

This is a good pressure cooker with a worthless manual. I really enjoy the food I have cooked with it, both on a pressure setting and using it as a slow-cooker. The major flaw in it is that the alarm sounds are so quiet, they are worthless. Another gripe would be that If you look at the picture it appears there are 9 numbered buttons on the front. They are merely labels. All in all though, it does what it's supposed to do.
