With the Hamilton Beach Bowl Scraper Food Processor, you save time when chopping or pureeing – no need to stop and remove the lid to dislodge food from the side of the bowl. The built-in scraper does the work for you, and you can use it while the processor is on or off for continuous processing. Scrapes the sides of the bowl to keep ingredients close to the blades for more even results and to save you time — no need to stop and remove the lid to use a spatula. The generous capacity can handle processing large volumes of foods, like a whole head of cabbage, without having to stop to empty the bowl, and the Large Feed Chute can fit large foods like a whole block of cheese for quick, easy processing and less prep time. Use the Slicing Disc (slicing side facing UP) to slice cucumbers, apples, mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes, pepperoni, peppers, radishes, firm cheeses. Use the Shredding Disc (shredding side facing UP) to shred cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and cheese. Use low speed, high speed or pulse driven by a powerful 450 watt motor. Cleanup is a breeze; the BPA-Free bowl, lid and blade are all dishwasher safe. Dishwasher safe blades, bowl and lid make cleanup easy. Parts are BPA-free in all food zones. Use the Chopping/Mixing Blade for chopping nuts, meat, garlic, onions, peppers, celery, herbs, bread (for crumbs), and crackers. Also, use it to mince/puree vegetables and fruits, mix salad dressings, puree soups or sauces, and to grate cheese.

I was happy with the price and after reading the reviews, decided to purchase a food processor after wanting one for a few years. I couldn't be more pleased. I've used an Oster and Kitchen Aid processor before in my work as a personal chef and I think this one is actually more sturdy. I've shredded carrots and zucchini so far and egg shells which predictably scratched the plastic container but I don't mind. The turn knob feels a little different than push button models but it seems to be well made and doesn't feel like it will fall off or anything weird. If your'e thinking about getting a food processor, I highly recommend this one. I haven't even used the multiple blades, just the one so I'm just getting started!

I purchased this as a companion tool to a KitchenAid small (small, like 1 1/2 cup) chopper.

The small chopper handles routine one-portion mincing for celery, onion and mushrooms, but I wanted to get away from the drudgery of grating cabbage and carrots by hand using a steel grater to make cole slaw.

As a cole slaw maker, the Hamilton Beach is hilariously fast and did a good job. To be a little picky, a smaller grater blade for the carrot would be nice but all in all the results were easily deli-quality and I'm happy there! There are of course more sophisticated machines such as the Cuisinarts but the price doubles or triples this one and that's gonna be a return-for-investment calculation.

I learned that cutting the cabbage to fit the chute took longer than actually doing the shredding. So there's a bit of a learning curve to get the prep squared away. Also this about the chute: there's no way in the world you'll get large whole onion rings out of this machine like they show in the promo picture above. The chute would have to be at least three times the diameter in order to fit a whole red onion down there. Maybe a 1/4 section of onion would fit. So kinda misleading illustration there.

The base has four suction cups, instead of the usual rubber feet which is a pretty good idea; but it does make lifting the unit off a counter a bit of a challenge, especially for a very non-porous surface such as polished marble (I'd guess---, we have run-of-the-mill 1980's semi-porous countertops here, so it comes unstuck fairly easily.)

Finally- the assembly is large, ten cups is a lot of volume, but some ingredients will need that extra room and won't process correctly if the bowl is filled to capacity for them.
Here's the chart, for example:

Fruits and Vegetables 2 to 3 cups (500 to 750 ml) (cut into 1-in. [2.5-cm] cubes
Meats 0.7 lb. (350 g) (cut into 1-in. [2.5-cm] cubes)
Parmesan or Romano 5 ounces (140 g) (cut into 1-in. [2.5-cm] cubes)
Cheddar, Jack, Mozzarella 8 ounces (226 g) (cut into 1-in. [2.5-cm] cubes)
Crackers 10 cups (2.3 L) (can fill bowl and lid up into chute). So you can go nuts with the crackers. :-)

The pieces can be placed by nesting into one another with the lid inverted to fit into smaller storage space. Although not particularly heavy it is a large unit; the machine when fully assembled may not fit underneath cupboards if you have counter space below the cupboards.

Compared to the little KitchenAid handy chopper this is like a Full size car sitting next to a go-cart. I'll post more if it blows up or has problems doing the things it's supposed to do.

BTW, it's not intended to chop nuts, grind coffee or knead bread. Says so in the instructions!

After 30 years it was time to retire my Cuisinart. Speaking with various friends who are serious cooks, I was told that the newer models (now made in China) are now as good as formerly. Moreover, you do pay something of a premium for the Cuisinart brand (at one time it was the only one available on the market). The Hamilton Beach is much cheaper and in no way inferior. Also, I noticed that the Hamilton Beach was recommended by Amazon. I am delighted with it! It is very stable, fits together beautifully, cleans easily, and above all, runs like a jet plane. I started out with the acid test of any food processor--I made tuna salad. Within seconds...and not many of them...I had a perfect tuna salad. I am looking forward to using this appliance often!

There are food processors that cost nearly four times as much as this that I've personally seen not perform to the same level. I've made hummus, salsa, and plenty of complex dishes using this food processor. Afterwards, I disassemble and put the pieces in the dishwasher and they come out good as new. In terms of kitchen purchases, I think this food processor certainly flipped my expectation for what a low budget item can do.

I've had this processor for a few months now and love it. Its simple to use with two speeds and pulse option, I use the processor to make pie crust because mashing with a fork is terrible. Pie crust is usually my power test for things like this and it handles it like a champ. I'm only docking it a star for that stupid scraper that it comes with. I was pureeing up some pumpkin and decided to give the attachment a try and it got destroyed. I ended up with bunches of tiny black plastic pieces in my pumpkin puree.

I got terrible service from Cuisinart and they lost my loyalty.

As compared to 9-cup food processor Cuisinart (DLC-2009CHB), the Hamilton Beach 70730 is:

- light, cheap, and has comparable plastic attachments. But there is a new scraper attachment

- It has a better slicer and shredder blade than Cuisinart.

- However the blending/puree feature can be improved but this does not mean it is better or worse than Cuisinart; it does its job but because the S-shaped blade is small, you often have to scrape and even then it purees variably. For example, it purees well for hummus but not for mushroom pâté.

- The attachment of scraper is useless. One of its arms got chopped off during scraping and the entire batch of whatever was being pureed had to be thrown away because it had plastic in it.

- This blender makes lot of noise.

Overall, for the price it is good. We have a use and throw culture so, from my Cuisinart experience, I want it to last for a few years or else if it lasts for many years, I will get another horrible service from Hamilton Beach and they will lose me.

10cup is quite small, as seen from image, next to a 1litre water bottle. Great for 2people but would think a 12 or 14 cup would be a better size for bigger recipes. The scraper is a good idea, but unit will not work if scraper is not in place and it merely pushes food but does not scrap cleanly, as seen from image, food gets trapped under scraper. A lot of crevices to clean but blended walnut and almond butter and its really powerful. Extremely noisy though, feel as if I might need ear plugs when I use the food processor.

This far exceeded my expectations. Sounds and operates like a real professional of much higher quality. I haven't had any need to use the side scraper as it does just fine without it. I have made everything from guacamole to energy bites with very sticky dates and crunchy hazelnuts to work with. This machine is absolutely fantastic. I love it! There is no need to buy a much more expensive device as this one does a great job by itself. The only negative thing I have to say about this device, is the little sticky suction cups on the bottom. Although they are really nice to keep the appliance in place while in use, they are a real pain when trying to get the device out of the cupboard! I think I might end up removing them. All in all, you will be quite surprised and quite pleased investing in this little machine!! Last night it made an incredibly creamy mac-n-chz sauce:)

I bought this to help with Thanksgiving prep. It definitely made it easier! I got my onions and garlic and shallots chopped up in about a minute and a half! I normally dread big meal prep since my eyes water terribly chopping onions, and this made it an absolute breeze. That being said, I think it may be a little TOO powerful for everyday use. I wanted chunks of onion but ended up with basically onion puree. I loved having minced garlic and shallots in ten seconds flat, but for larger chopping I don't know that this would help much. I wish there was a lower setting so you don't have to mince everything. I haven't tried the blade attachment yet, but it seems nice and sharp, and well constructed. I haven't quite figured out how to store it yet, but it does seem a little bulky. Overall for the price it's pretty good, but budget permitting I would spring for a product with more options.

Since our previous processor was way undersized (less than 3 cup- bought in 1988) this one is like coming out of the Dark Ages. So far it has done everything well. Initially used it for making the dough of 2 Pumpkin pies & 1 Apple pie. What I have learned in making pie dough - Do not Over Process - keep your finger on the pulsing button. With the correct amount of processing time the pie crusts turned out perfect. I must admit that both the Pulse and Selection 1st & 2nd speed are too fast. Would liked to have seen the availability of a slower speed for making dough thus the caveat in processing time. An additional slight problem with the slicer. It slices fairly well but towards the last portion of an item it slices in non uniform longer slices. Not really that great for presentation purposes. A slight annoyance but thought I'd point that out.

Good value for a nice functioning processor. Will report back if I encounter any problems. So far - so good.

Exceptionally loud.

The suction feet stick to areas I've never had suction cups stick to before.

So far works ok. The side scraper works... ok.

Does *not* store as neatly as description would have you believe, with everything nesting neatly in place, etc. etc.

And Boy, when it turns on does it turn on!

I will use this more in the future, and hope to update this in the future as to how it hold out. My last food processor was a HUGE and massively expensive Cuisinart food processor that had 3 separate bowls, and 2 shredding sizes, and an adjustable slicing blade, etc. A dough blade, storage unit...... it was HUGE, and hard to clean. It literally grew mold in the handle. Sooooooo that's why I bought this one.

Don't just buy expensive- not always meaning better engineering. But it was much quieter, I'll say that! lol

Good appliance to have, if you do a lot of cooking. This particular food processor replaced a smaller one that died on me while I was crushing ice. I was impressed by the power of the motor in this one, which had no problem at crushing ice and fruit for a delicious smoothie. The first time I used it, though, I made a huge mess. I think I may have overfilled it, because as it was running, the liquids from the pulverized fruit and ice leaked out all over the place. Other than that one time, though, I haven't had any issues to speak of. I'm just a bit more careful with how far I fill it.

I like the lever on the lid that lets you unjam food that gets gunked up in the blades. I haven't had to use it yet, but that's a nice touch.

I do a lot of window shopping before I decide on something. My SO goes nuts because it takes me three months to decide on a kitchen knife. That being said, I did my usual amount of research before buying this thing and my due diligence did not fail me yet again. The scraper is seriously so useful. Being Korean, I make kimchee every couple of months or so - which means a lot of friggin' garlic. This thing is awesome for mincing up some serious amounts of garlic because bigger chunks tend to get stuck at the top and not get minced evenly. The scraper solves that problem. I also tried using it to process crab meat to make it flaky to make California rolls and the motor can handle dry and dense foods like crab meat. I also tried processing chicken breast for chicken salad with it and no problems there either. The control options are pretty basic but if you can handle your own around a kitchen then gadgets with crazy settings only get in the way. With this product, there is absolutely no need to hesitate. The amazing price is just that - an awesome deal.

I carefully did my research before I ordered this product. I checked out all the other products in its class, compared prices, and then looked at reviews both on here and other websites throughout the internet. After my research I ordered this Hamilton Beach 70730 Bowl Scrapper Food Processor and I love it. So far I've made all kinds of sauces in it. I've shredded carrots for salads and sliced vegetables of all types into rounds. I've even used it to shred large quantities of potatoes for hash browns and loved the results. You can't get any better than this Hamilton Beach Food Processor. I probably use it three times a weekday if not more and often at least once on the weekends. Its easy to lock in place and will not run if you have the parts incorrectly locked. Its super easy to clean and has enough settings you can do just about anything you want with it. I was a bit skeptical the scraper would work, but indeed it does and does a fantastic job at that.

I would highly recommend this food processor to anyone shopping for a personal use or even for a fantastic wedding gift.

All the descriptions of the processor are on the amazon site and are true from what I have experienced. The only things I will add that came to my attention.

1. The chute size is perfect for a 2 lb block of cheese. You don't have to cut block multiple times to make it fit.

2. the suction cups on the bottom are perfect to keep it stable and in place, but not so big that you can't get the dang thing off the counter when your done.

3. I have seen comments that it leaks when doing liquids. I mixed some barbeque sauce that used one bottle of craft, some spices, and a shot of black velvet, and it didn't spill out. The pitcher was about half full. It is not a blender. If you want to make mixed drinks with it then you may get spilling, through the center driver shaft chute, and It says not to use to crush ice, So use at own risk for that.

4. The scraper feature can be useful for some things and works well. Most of the time I don't use it. Not a primary selling point for me.

My only knock on the processor is the knob. It turns one way for pulse and the other for speed 1 & 2. It is very easy to spring back to speed 1 when you let go from pulse. Not a big deal. Maybe future designs would have a separate button for pulse.

All in all, works great, looks nice on the counter and good price.
