I started years ago when something goes out I replace it with a Kitchen Aid appliance if available. This is another winner for KA. Very stylish and I actually didn't think I would use the different functions but I have and they work perfectly. It took a couple of tries to get the toast setting to where I like but it is perfectly consistent. To some it might be a little slow but If you are that impatient, you can always buy a blow torch. Another homerun for Kitchen Aid

Have had this toaster a few months now and it has surpassed any other toaster we have had in ease of use and controls and being able to digitally set the toast level and digital bars count down so you know where you are in the toasting process. Very nice and very good looking. Glad we bought it, plus it matches our kitchenaid 14 cup kitchen coffee make.

Over the years, I've purchased KitchenAid products in red. I have been waiting for several years to complete my purchase of this Digital Display toaster. I got a birthday gift from my sister in the form of enough money to purchase this toaster and I am thrilled with it.

I am enjoying the toaster I bought last month. It looks beautiful on the counter. There have been no problems. I will point out that for us any setting higher than a 2 is too dark. A 4 makes the toast lightly burnt. The beep when the toast is done is loud but not problematic. I have also noticed thin white lines vertically on the toast but they don't seem to interfere with the overall enjoyment or quality.

Easy to use: press-down the lever, select appropriate settings per type of item and degree of toasting preferred, check the digital readout for affirmation and note live bar graph counting down the time remaining, a little single ding alerts you to when the toasting is done. The cancel button can be used when unsure about the correct setting by monitoring (by sight) the coloration while toasting. When done toasting, cleanup is easy with slide-out tray.
Versatile: Besides regular sliced bread (in the default setting) it can handle bagels, English muffins and all the above in a frozen state. By selecting the appropriate button. The reheat button is effective for warming up previously toasted items in less than a minute.
The toaster is well made: The exterior is made from stainless steel and hard enamel painted steel panels. The visible interior mechanisms are all stainless steel.Overall mechanical functions are smooth and quite. No rattling or sloppiness in the fit-up.
Performance: So far it has performed flawlessly as I expected.
Comment: Most of the negative reviews I've read seem to be the result of some users not reading or comprehending the instruction manual. For example the one-sided burning of sliced bread will occur if performed in the bagel mode instead of the default mode, and from a couple feet away, I didn't find the single ding alert sound at all annoying but instead, rather pleasant.

...why can't we make a toaster that toasts bread nice and fast? Fine toaster, generally. Everything you read online is true: it acts a lot like it's on bagel even when it's not on bagel, which means one side of the toast is darker than the other side. The timer is nice to watch, but it does seem to take a while to get things done. I like the audible alarm. It's a good stab at a toaster. Still a ways to go, however.

I did a lot of research and this was my pick. My last toaster was a Kitchen Aid and it lasted 18 years so when it came down to the last 3 I was considering, I went with my history. I am glad I made this choice. Not sure why it beeps when the toast is ready but that is a small thing and I will get use to it.

The two things I look for in a toaster are that it toast evenly and that it does not need to be on the highest setting to get the dark toast I prefer. This toaster is great on both items! In addition, the selection buttons (bagel, defrost etc) are clearly marked.

To toast bread the setting has to be on #2, otherwise it will burn. I can't imagine what setting #5 would do. Also, I have to press the level 3-4 times before it will stay down to cook. Our last Kitchenaid lasted 15 years. I do not think the new one will last that long

We have all kinds of Kitchen Aid products, and previously had a kitchen aid toaster as well. The problem with the previous unit was, it had no clean out tray and was hard to keep clean. This new unit HAS a cleanout tray, thereby making it easy to keep clean. It also has a more precise control for better toasting. Almost all the counter top appliances we have had are Kitchen Aid and for the most part, we have been extremely pleased and happy with the performance and durability of each.
