I've upgraded! For over 22 years I had my Almond Cream 4.5 qt. KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer. I couldn't afford it outright, so I put it on lay-away at the now defunct, Caldor Dept. store. Once I got it home there was no stopping me. Over the years, I've perfected my now signature Pound Cake, of which I make upwards of 75 per year! And, I also made yeast rolls from an old family recipe. The problem was incorporating 5 lbs. of flour in that size mixer. It was impossible and I had to give up on the dough hook attachment about halfway through the process. Nevertheless, I persisted :) and the rolls were a hard won success. Now that I have my new Espresso KitchenAid 6-qt. Pro Stand Mixer, which I took out for a test run recently, the yeast roll process is splendiferous! Maybe, not a word, but the joy I feel is real. I am sure that you may feel weird reading a review of a novice baker, but I did not purchase this item all willy-nilly. I enlisted the guidance and help of a friend who is a lifelong baker. I was directed to chose a KitchenAid mixer: specifically the 6qt lift stand model as I was told that it was more user friendly, easy to clean and had a powerful motor that would last. We chose the amazing baby blue color to compliment our newly renovated pale yellow pantry. (What fun!) Now, down to the good stuff. Like many during the pandemic, I am challenging my baking skills to include baking bread after trading my first born for some active dry yeast on the black market. (Just kidding, I don't have kids). Bread has always awed me. (I didn't do well in chemistry in high school and we all know that baking is edible chemistry). I am in love love love with the dough hook and since using our new mixer, I have created some amazing loaves of bread (much to my diabetic husband's chagrin). I also quickly whipped up some bun-kickin' homemade pizza dough! (Cannot resist a good baking pun... I hear that they are on the rise *ba-dum-tink*) There is something magical about creating beautiful food and this mixer is a gem in the kitchen to help you do so efficiently and safely (The pour lid is awesome to keep fingers out of the way of the paddles etc) I am excited to take this baby on further culinary adventures once the Covid19 lock-down is lifted and I can get to the supermarket for ingredients! I am so happy we purchased this Kitchen-aid Stand Mixer. We chose the Milkshake color and it is perfect for any color kitchen we may have in the future. I love the eggshell finish as well. I love how powerful the stand mixer is and love that it has the bowl lift. I can't wait to buy more attachments to go with it. This product can do everything! So perfect! i use to own an artisan but moved and had no room in my car s i gave it to a friend and promised myself one dayi would own another but hadn't decided on which kind or size so i figured go bigger and i this was my choice i am thrilled i decided on this kitchen aide mixer. I've always wanted a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer and always talked myself out of spending the money. Too bad I didn't do this twenty years ago when my kids were young. I went for a big one with a powerful motor so I could do lots of bread kneading. And that's what I've been doing, making lots of bread. The machine is easy to use and clean up. since the day i got it i have used it for everything. cupcakes, icing, pancakes, meatloaf, cookies. it handles multiple batches and cleans easily. so glad i got the higher wattage. it's heavy but i leave it in one spot. it's a great addition to my kitchen and i'll never use a hand mixer again. This is my 3rd kitchenaid which means my daughters have reaped the benefits! It is easy to use and I love this model because the bowl moves up which I have noticed less splattering. I have had a KitchenAid Mixer for over 25 years. I own a small bakery and cake decorating supply store. I have always used a KitchenAid Mixer in my commercial kitchen along with my Hobart 20quart mixer. I have a 4 quart KitchenAid mixer at home and my business partner just bought me a 6 quart KitchenAid mixer for my birthday that I have at my shop. These mixers are little work horses.
