Ordered pot in UK for pickup in Atlanta at start of fly drive. Pot lid was cracked but we didn't have time to return it. Works great for meals in hotels or motels. Two would be even more use as the price is so cheap.

I followed the instructions and washed the item before and after use - but still found a film on the water after boiling and there was also a white residue on the inside of the pot after I washed, rinsed and dried it off. I could not get this to go away after repeated uses so I returned the item to the store for a refund.

I purchased this to replace another hot pot. Pros: - This hot pot gets much hotter than the one I previously owned. I now get a roiling boil, much stronger than my old one. - This hot pot has a plastic guard over the spout, which makes it much easier to drain water off of noodles. On my previous one, I had to carefully block the spout with a fork and would sometimes loose a few noodles. Cons: - This hot pot has three plastic posts that protrude from the bottom to support inserts for steaming and for boiling eggs. This is fine for boiling noodles, but I can imagine they'd be hard to clean if you made soup or something messy. Maybe a pro, maybe a con: - The heating plate in the bottom of the pot does not have a non-stick surface. I had to trash my old one, because someone burnt the non-stick surface beyond use, so this may be a pro. But if you're making something sticky or messy, it may be a con.

The Maxi-Matic 32 ounce Electric Hot Pot heats water quickly. I used it to make hard boiled eggs and was very pleased with the perfect results. I followed the directions provided to boil eggs with one exception. When the water came to a full boil I unplugged the unit and let it set for 10 minutes. The eggs were hard boiled to perfection. This same function can be used to make poached eggs by leaving the eggs in the boiled water for less time. I have yet to try the vegetable steaming function. The plastic used is thinner than my previous pot so it seems a little less sturdy. Overall I would recommend this appliance to heat water for beverages, instant soups and boil eggs.

1. The cord does not release from the pot; 2. The bottom heating unit scorches anything other than water or the thinnest soups; 3. Less substantial/well constructed than other hotpots (there is already a crack near the spout after less than 2 weeks use); 4. A waste of my money, I will have to replace it soon.

We purchased the Maxi-Matic for our elderly uncle who is visually impaired. He uses this pot to instantly heat water for coffee and oatmeal several times throughout the day. We were happy to find a plastic pot so we didn't have to worry about breaking glass. The only thing I wish it had would be an on/off switch so he didn't have to plug it in every time he uses it.

Great hot-pot that serves as an electric kettle as well as a steamer. In addition to the heat regulator, I wish there was a timer on it, that clocks the cooking time and switches off the kettle automatically after the duration pre-set for cooking. There can be two switches to regulate the heat and also the cooking time. But otherwise it's very good.

I used to own this Hot Pot years ago and was happy to find it on Walmart.com because I could not find it in brick and mortar stores like Bed Bath and Beyond. We use it every morning to boil water for herbal teas and instant "Healthy Coffee" that we drink everyday. Years ago, we would take our kids to cabins in the country and this Hot Pot was used to heat water as well as warmup chili and soups. This is a must-have product, as far as I'm concerned, and I love how the temperature dial on the front allows me to control the heat of the water with 7 different settings.

It's a great buy. Would be willing to pay a little more to get greater durability. It's versatile and fills the bill for my purpose of traveling overseas.

I have steamed vegetables, boiled eggs, and steamed eggs in the pot with no problem. The eggs come out perfect and no cracking of shells. I have cooked rice in the pot also. I do agree with one viewer about the 3 prongs that are used to elevate the steamer and egg cooker. It is a little bothersome to try and stir where they are located. I ended up using a silicone spatula and that did the trick. Otherwise the pot has worked fine for me.
