We needed to create proper working space, over our Whirlpool cooktop. Our older home had a seriously undersized appliance (the GE Spacemaker stove, 24†wide). We had already solved that 20 years ago, with a Whirlpool wall oven below, and cooktop above, but the conventional microwave/hood combo hovered very low over the cooktop. My husband and I bought a house and decided to put a low profile microwave in over the stove. I'm so glad we did! The design of the microwave allows for plenty on stove top space and allows me to keep the cabinet above! It user friendly and looks great. We've received many compliments as well!

This is still very new here and has only been used once or twice so we'll know more in time. Still, it is exactly what we needed to maximize our counter space after having a larger countertop microwave.
