If this coffee maker worked for more than a couple of weeks, I'd give it a 5/5. In the second week I owned it, the carafe nozzle jammed, pushing the brewed coffee basket water out the top of the machine, spilling water/coffee/grounds all over the coffee maker, as well as the counter/floor. Not a big deal, cleaned up, attempted to start a new pot, but it wouldn't turn on. I unplugged the machine to reset it, turned it back on, and it worked. Now, every morning it needs to be unplugged and replugged in order to operate. At $25, I'm disappointed but not totally irritated - it's a cheap machine. But it should be able to spill on itself, which probably is not an uncommon phenomenon, and still function.

This coffee pot is trash-- figuratively and now literally, as well. Our last Mr. Coffee machine worked for several years and we only replaced it when the carafe got dropped and shattered. This B&D machine was in the same price range as our old one, so I ordered this one thinking it would work for a no-nonsense, everyday-use coffee pot. I was wrong. The coffee grinds (when brewing a full pot or half pot) spill over into the pot and you will absolutely have to strain your coffee after it's brewed. The mechanism under the basket that allows the coffee to drip into the carafe is super fiddly and even if you go to the trouble to make certain it's lined up properly, putting the carafe back on the warmer pushes it out of place. We used this for less than three weeks before we caved and just bought a new Mr. Coffee machine for $24. Works much better. Black & Decker seems to be spread too thin to put out quality products... or maybe they're just cheap? Unfortunately, their coffee pot game is weak. Do your self a favor and keep looking.

Very happy with it. I ditched the glass pot because they always end up broken and replaced it with a stainless steel one. I also added a reusable filter.

Pros: $, timer, hot plate, dependable Cons: Messy, basket sometimes doesn’t seat properly leading to grinds going to the carafe, no way to clean the water reservoir, often drips onto hot plate when pulling carafe for pouring a cup—leaving scalded coffee scum on the hot plate.

Got my new coffee maker today. Ran water through it twice, and made a pot. My last black and decker coffee maker finally gave out after 10 years. Never had a problem with it. The carafe top wore out and the plastic lid and handle separated after years of use. I was going to just order a carafe, but I noticed how old and used the machine looked. So I ordered another. I’ve bought a $200 coffee maker before, and guess what? The coffee tastes the same whether the coffee maker costs $200 or $25. Thanks black and decker.

This is my 2nd Black+Decker Coffee Maker!! I love everything about this “simple” set up!! It’s easy to pour water into from the side; the drip spout is nicely placed within the lid; the handle has a SAFE grip; there’s no extra parts to insert or clean other than the filter!!! All that and it makes a dam GOOD cup of coffee too!!! Truth be told.... I’m a picky buyer and searched a long time for the RIGHT coffee machine, so when I accidentally broke my Coffee Pot.... I could’ve just replaced the pot, but after 5 respectable years of use.... I went all out and got a new one because this is not only a GREAT COFFEE MAKER but it’s economically priced, as well!!! Even the clock is easy to set!!! One thing for sure.... when visiting any of my friends and using their fancy coffee pots.... I’m extremely grateful to have my Black+Decker waiting for me at home!!! Highly Recommend!!!

What am I looking for? - a good cup of HOT coffee. It's that simple. The coffee maker itself is "cheaper" in the way it is made, but if you are a coffee snob like myself, all you want is a Good cup of HOT coffee. This coffee pot brewed my coffee at 197.9 degrees = EXCELLENT = I got a very good cup OF HOT coffee. Couldn't ask for anything more. If you want a coffee pot for its "looks" or perfect functions, look elsewhere. If you want a delicious cup of hot coffee and also want to save $100, buy this coffee maker.

The machine is a large pot and starts wonderfully simple for automatic. And of course you can make a pot right away. Just make sure you get the coffee measurements right which may take a couple of times to suit preferences. Its important to run water through it about twice before you make the first pot. I lower the rumble after it completes the pot. And then, its silent, warm and very large for easy handling.

This coffee pot does everything it says it will do. I do wish there was a setting to keep it on rather than it cutting off every 2 hours. I know most people like to make a fresh pot of coffee but I make a pot in the morning and I will sip on it all day. I have to keep cutting it back on every 2 hours.

Most of the reviews I read about this coffee pot seem to focus on the functionality of the pot itself. I wanted to add one that made clear that it also makes a good cup of coffee. I rated it based on what you get for your money, but I bought this to replace a $70 pot that I had to throw away because it didn't have an auto-off feature and I burned out the heater element. This pot has everything, looks good, and the coffee it produces is maybe not quite as good as my high-end coffeemaker but it's pretty darn close. It brews fast and the coffee comes out hot enough and stays that way for two hours. What's not to like ?

I've said it once, I'll say it again: Black and Decker is the best brand that makes coffee pots and power tools. But seriously, I do like this pot, I like the feature to schedule when my coffee can brew in the morning so that after I poop when I wake up I can begin working on that second poop right away. The only thing that it doesn't have that I wish it did is to keep the coffee hot after the brew. My wife is currently working from home so would like to have hot coffee all day but has to microwave it. I mean its on the same counter as the microwave so its not that difficult but its still a point off. That is why I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars. I like this pot. I won't be replacing it anytime soon, well unless my monster children break it which is totally possible. They are terrors.

Woohoo! I am so happy with this coffee pot. I've had ALOT of coffee pots in my time. I got rid of them All for the same reason. Burnt coffee on the heating plate. They say it won't drip when you pour a cup during coffee making process. THEY DID. And since the plate is hot. Instant burnt in stain. NOT THIS ONE!!!. I can sneak a cup and no drip. Absolutely love it!

While it makes good coffee, the alignment of the basket and pot is terrible. If you do not get the basket perfectly aligned with the pot, it backs up and overflows all over the counter. I originally bought this for my elderly father. He had a terrible time with it. I thought it was because he had limited sight. I took it home and discovered that it really is a design issue. If the basket is not in notch perfectly, it activates the stopper and the water continues to fill the basket which then overflows all over the counter with water and coffee grounds. It happened to my father repeatedly and now also to me. I would never recommend this pot.

Despite the fact I washed it first, and ran several straight water pots through it before using, it makes coffee with a horrible plastic/chemical taste to it. Clearly the plastic is leaching into the coffee. Not sure if this is safe, but after brewing a dozen pots of coffee with the nasty taste I am throwing this brewer away. NOT GOOD. Very unhappy. And everyone in the house noticed the taste without it being mentioned so I know its the coffeepot.

If you don’t get the pot under the button exactly it will not work properly you will get coffee grinds in your coffee..... What happens is the button doesn’t open up enough to let the coffee go into the pot like it should...

This coffee maker came very well packed. Every part was intact. The clock is nice and easy to set. The programmable part isn’t something I’d use but it’s handy. The price is very nice! I cleaned it out and ran a pot of water through before I used it. The first pot of coffee I made was just right and hot. I’m glad I purchased it. My last coffee maker was a Black & Decker too and lasted 10 years! Which is why I purchased this coffee maker. I’ve only had it one day and I’m happy with it so far. If it dies on me in a short amount of time, I’ll be back to let you know. Stay safe folks!

We hate this coffee pot. It has no signal to let you know the coffee is done. It doesn't let you know the coffee is done. The numbers on the side of the pot itself is hard to see. We have placed painter's tape on the outside of the glass pot so we can measure the water. And we can't fill it past 10 cups or the water ends up all over the counter. We got this free I had some gift certificates from doing surveys. and it came 28.00 I would have done better getting the pot at Walmart for less. Wish I could return it. but alredy using it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!

AMENDED REVIEW Ours is still working perfectly. Unfortunately you can't find it for $20 any more. I wanted to address some of the negative reviews and offer a suggestion for one type of issue some folks have noted. Some reviews say it is noisy; that's not my experience. I find it makes no more noise than the myriad of previous coffee makers we have owned, of many brands. And as far as I can tell, there is no obnoxious taste to the coffee coming from the plastic used. Some have noted that the paper filter collapses, allowing coffee to overflow around the filter sometimes into the basket and then down into the carafe. This happened once or twice for me. The first thing I noticed was that if the filter paper is in the least bit folded over, the design of the maker will drip water between the basket and the filter paper, resulting in the wet filter folding in on itself. I made sure the filter paper was against the back of basket wall and that problem stopped. Another issue some have experienced is that the basket will not drain adequately and it fills up and over the sides. I have not had that experience; however that is most likely a result of the carafe top not firmly pushing up on the basket release valve that allows the basket to drain into the carafe. I found a goof-proof way around this, for me anyway. I remove the carafe, then install the filter and coffee, add the water and then firmly close the lid. The last thing I do is place the carafe on the heating pad while holding down the lid slightly. If you don't do this and just insert the carafe, the carafe lid will push up on the basket valve but seems at the same time to lift the entire basket slightly, thus not fully opening the valve. You want the valve to open, not lift the basket. So just install the carafe as the last thing you do and put some pressure down on the top as you do this and that will hold the basket in place and the drain valve will be fully open as you insert the carafe - dirt simple solution and so far it works every time; hopefully for others. At $20 it was a tremendous value. ORIGINAL REVIEW I looked at many, more expensive coffee makers and none were without their warts. So I decided to just find the least expensive one that met my needs. This one turned out to be a gem for less than $20 (I paid $19.99). It came in "industrial strength" packaging and as soon as it arrived I tried out all features and functions; everything worked as advertised. The only minor nit is that the carafe lid does not seem removable; you would probably break it attempting to remove it. The top was removable on other carafes I have had, making it easier to clean, but on balance it doesn't matter as everything is easy to clean. Admittedly, this review is right out of the box and we have only two days using it so reliability is an unknown. If that becomes an issue later on, I will amend the review, but for now I feel this is a great value for the price.

I love it. It came late in the afternoon but i had to try it out when it got here. First thing i noticed was the ample pour spout. Large enough to pour coffee much more quickly than other carafes. More air, easier to pour. It is a simple coffee maker but the clock works, and it programs easily, as does the coffee settings. I like the 2 hour auto-off. But, I don't drink my coffee really fast so the 1 hour coffee warmer shut off is not a favorite feature. However the 2 hour shutoff for safety is a good idea. Question to B&D: Why have both features?

I like everything about this coffeemaker except, the tiny light that indicates it's time set or on, is too small to see unless you're right in front of it. I like where the control panel is, the water level tube is visible in front, it's fast, and very hot. Doesn't have a strong brew button but the flavor is good. Good coffeemaker at good price.

I've had this coffeemaker for 3 years and haven't run into any malfunctions. It's easy to use and has a great safety feature where it turns off the warmer automatically after a couple hours in case you forget to before leaving the house. There are slight annoyances with it though. The height of the top makes it a nuisance to keep on the counter top if there is an upper counter, I have to pull it out each day in order to fill the water reservoir. The coffee pot also doesn't pour cleanly unless you pour very slowly. I often am too impatient when filling the water reservoir and end up spilling water on the counter.

I’ve used my pot everyday since getting it November 2019. The only issue I’ve ever had was once I didn’t place the filter correctly and the beans poured into my coffee. It only happened once clearly my error. It would be nice to have the option of keeping the pot on longer than 2 hours or even a “warm” feature to keep the coffee warm but over all, the coffee pot is great. I make a full pot everyday and it takes less than 20 minutes.

It gurgles so loud it could wake up the whole household. yes its easy to use, yes its handy and preforms okay, but the gurgling is awful. I asked Joe if I was using it properly and he said... 'Wots coffee?' Then again tried to smell my hair just before he stumbled down the stairs back to the basement...

I ordered this from Amazon after owned a previous Black and Decker coffeemaker for a couple years. After it broke, I ordered this model from Amazon. It worked great. Twice. Then the glass carafe broke after I washed it - was gently placing on the counter and the bottom just cracked and broke. I have been all over the net trying to just replace the carafe. Got one from Walmart for 11.97- and it didn't fit even though it was for the 12 cup programmable one- looked exactly like mine comparing the box in the picture. So I returned that carafe and started searching and discovered that this model is discontinued so no way to get a replacement part. So I have a pretty new machine and no way to use it ! So beware !

Had this for just over three months. I loved the self timer, it was like a treat to wake up to hot coffee! However, the lid is very flimsy and this is what keeps the filter basket spring engaged to let the coffee out and drain into the pot. Just fried the electronics on this because the spring was not set right (this is not the first time it's happened) and the coffee overflowed and ran all over the controls. Bah. Sincerely, Mad and without a coffee pot for tomorrow morning.

This coffeemaker WAS great. We bought it on March 10, 2020,and were relieved to find a coffeemaker that worked after our Hamilton Beach stopped working. The new coffeemaker worked perfectly for five months. We use it daily, and we use it correctly. So, it was strange when one morning it stopped working. Now, I'm looking online AGAIN to find a decent coffeemaker. This time, I'm going to buy an extended warranty for my purchase. I thought this coffeemaker would get us through the pandemic. Alas, I'm back shopping AGAIN. Ugh Update review, September 6, 2020: I realized that the coffeemaker had a 2 year warranty, so I called the company, Since the problem was not because of my misuse of the coffeemaker it's covered under their warranty. The customer service representative was friendly and polite. They apologized send they would send us a new coffeemaker promptly. Within 10 days, we had a replacement. Of course, we already purchased a new coffeemaker within that time period, but we now have a new coffeemaker stored away when our current one gives out. Because of the coffeemaker was good for 5 months, and because of the good customer service, I am changed my review from 1 star to 4 stars.

This unit was purchased for my short-term rental property, and very lightly used - less than a month in total. It worked for a while, but then the plastic cracked at the bottom of the water reservoir, so when adding water it leaked like a sieve out the bottom, all over the countertop. Impossible to repair; they use some kind of fasteners on the bottom of the unit that aren't designed to be removed and don't fit a std screwdriver, so into the garbage it went. Total waste of money.

It might sound silly but I’ve always wanted a coffee maker that can make coffee in the morning before I wake up. This one is the best! It’s super affordable, looks nice, easy as heck to clean, and it makes zero messes (my old one would leak when it was being made and when it was being poured). This is the best coffee maker for a reasonable price.

I will not buy another one! I have had many good coffee makers but this by far is the worst!! My first purchase, the canister broke within a month or so. I didn’t notice it at first but the bottom had cracked and I was still using it! So I buy another one and now this one too - broke! I was washing it and it barely slid to the side of the sink and shattered in pieces! Very poor quality—the glass is way too thin for normal everyday wear! Total waste of money and now I’ve been tricked twice! $40+ down the drain! Don’t waste your money - twice like I did!

I purchased this and didn't even get an entire year out of it. I don't even drink coffee every day. It worked fine at first but after about 6 months, I had what appears to be the exact opposite problem that everyone else had. The burner was getting TOO hot. Much hotter than when I first bought it, and to the point where the coffee would burn before the 2 hour shutoff timer kicked in. After brewing, if you didn't get your coffee poured within 20 minutes, it would be nearly boiling. I came back to this product page to explore the warranty. Based on feedback from many Amazon users, it appears you have to a) pay to mail the POWER CORD back to them and b) pay $7.50 for them to mail you the replacement coffee maker. So in other words, I paid $20 for a piece of junk that lasted 6 months, and now my option is to pay $12 - $15 for the same $20 piece of junk that will probably only last 6 months. I'll pass. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for. Buying a quality unit from a different brand as soon as I submit this review.

I've had this now for 6 months, the device is operating within expected parameters, it is easy to clean, easy to program, etc etc. However, the real problem is that the pour spout has a design flaw which causes it to spill just a small amount of coffee when pouring. It's not enough of a problem for me to throw this in the trash, but I won't be replacing this model when it eventually dies. Flavor wise, it imparts a bit of a burnt taste, the water temperature is a few degrees higher than I like. Definitely not a big deal at the price point.

My husband and I drink a total of 5 cups ( measuring cups ) of coffee a day. I noticed when emptying the carafe to wash there did not seem to be enough coffee left to fill 7 more measuring cups! To check, I filled the carafe by pouring water into the carafe 1 measuring cup at the time. Sure enough, the carafe only held 7 1/2 measuring cups of water even though it shows a 12 cup capacity marked on the side of the carafe! I am upset as I feel the seller misrepresented their product. We did not receive what we paid far. The amount is enough for us so is not a problem until we have company and may not have enough coffee for all! We feel we have been cheated! Do not be fooled!

I don't use the programming feature, so I don't know if that might be tricky to use. It's easier to fill the pot than some other designs, but you still have to pull it forward to clear the cupboard above. This shouldn't be so hard to get right! Also, the lip around the plate is a bit high, making it hard to pull the pot out. But it's a great price and the fill window on the side is a help. 6-14-2020 This pot sometimes scorches the coffee. Too many times. I will probably return, very frustrated 7/15/2020 I've tried to get Black & Decker to respond. So far nothing. The taste of the coffee is now terrible, no amount of milk or sugar will cover it. Too late for amazon return, but it's frustrating that a product would deteriorate so quickly that the return wIndow has just passed. It wasn't bad at first, so how could I know? Maybe Amazon will give me credit toward a better pot.

I went through a few cheap Mr. Coffee machines that always resulted in grounds in my coffee and general poor quality. So I splurged and spent an extra 10 bucks- totally worth it!! No fancy, confounding touch screen nonsense. Just a few buttons, you can program it to brew so you wake up to coffee smells coming from the kitchen (best smell ever in my opinion). No complaints! Black & Decker for the win!

My boyfriend and I bought this coffee pot for our first place together. It’s truly OK. I honestly wouldn’t buy it again. It was hard for my boyfriend to program, we went days without automated coffee, and he even read through the manual. I was able to figure out the problems we had. Once we finally understood how to use it, if the top part that holds the filter and coffee grounds is ever so slightly not level, the spring at the bottom can’t compress—water doesn’t flow and you instantly have grounds in your coffee! Lots of them! ? If we could do it again, I would probably buy a well known coffee brand pot. It’s ok it does its job but I wouldn’t buy it again!

Not cool black and decker. I bought this because it advertised 12 cups. In America, that's 8oz. I get it, search and search and in teeny tiny font it says a cup equals 5oz. They put that on the box so you can't accuse them of false advertising, but it is, in my opinion. At the very least, misleading advertising. I expected to brew 96oz of coffee, but I'm only getting 60. Sorry guests, some of you will have to wait for round two and hope no one wants seconds.

If you just want to make pots of coffee, this would probably be ok. I use it to make tea as well. You have to use the pot that came with it, or it shuts off. It's a "feature" so you can get a cup of coffee before it's done. My old coffee maker I could use my tea pitcher and it would go directly in there. I can't do that now. I don't use the same pot for tea that I use for coffee, so I would not have purchased this one if I knew that. Also, if this pot breaks for any reason, I won't be able to use it unless I can rig it so it will run without the special pot. :(

I am so disappointed in this coffee maker. It works great for 2 months but has started shorting out and shutting itself off. I have to jiggle the cord in the back to get it to come back on. It will short out in the middle of brewing coffee and I’ll have to fiddle with the cord to get it back on. I’m really disappointed that Amazon sells items that are ‘used’ and just claims that the box is damaged or the item has been opened. But in reality this product is defective and I o it had 30 days to return it. I would not recommend buying this product. The price was great and the coffee is good. But it’s unreliable and only works when the cord is moved around.

It seems the manufacturers of most modern budget drip coffee makers have listened to impatient consumers and have increased the speed of the drip on this device. The good news is you get your pot brewed in 3-4 minutes. The bad news is that it tastes more like coffee flavoured water because it doesn't spend enough time in the drip cup. To compensate, I need to use two filters to slow it down and sometimes I re-pour the coffee through the filter a couple of times. This is annoying and I might as well brew manually instead. The other thing is that the burner keeps the coffee too hot, so if you don't shut it off immediately after brewing it scalds the coffee making it taste burnt. This is unfortunately common and not specific to this model. If you like weak coffee and don't care much about the flavour this will reliably make your brew. But if you enjoy a good cuppa, probably best to buy something else. Frankly, I only use this device when I'm brewing for guests. I usually just use my aeropress most of the time. It's just as quick, generates less waste, and makes a really, really good cup.

Makes coffee fast and HOT really like it. The only thing that is tricky to learn is getting the filter basket placed just right but once you figure that out it's fine. If that basket is not in just right the coffee basket will fill up with water and make a huge mess after do that once or twice you will never do it again. Hope this helps.

Dangerous coffe maker !!! Was a great coffee maker the first 3 weeks. While setting it up the night before to have my coffee ready in the morning . I noticed there was water running on the counter . So I thought at first I was sloppy and just spilt some while pouring it in but it kept running so I picked it up and the tank water was coming out from under the warning plate .. luckily the unit wasn't turned on or yet for the automatic start up !!!!

SOS!!!!! I just took it out of the box, and there are NO INSTRUCTIONS! I'm 79 years old and have never bought a coffeemaker that came without a little book about the Unit, how to clean, etc. Is it possible to write the company to get the instruction booklet???? I haven't tried to make coffee because I think I should send it back because of the lack of instructions..

Our old coffee maker, which we had for X years, had been leaking water onto the counter top for some time after nearly every use. It was clean. No grinds. Not abused. Normal use. Water seemed to come from the bottom of the unit. Tired of cleaning up a small mess (the entire reservoir didn't leak out, just a small amount) , I bought this new one. I didn't realize that it's basically the same Black and Decker as the one we were replacing when I bought it. Saw "Amazon Choice", price was right, pulled the trigger. Didn't give it much thought, it's just a coffee maker. Took it out of the box, realized it's basically the same model. Whatever. Fine. Made a few pots -- and then? Yup. Water started leaking again just like the old one. This is one of those items that's a pain to repackage and the nearby Kohl's, which will package the item, is closed due to COVID-19. I'm avoiding going outside at present as this area has been hit pretty hard with COVID, and not sure the always busy UPS Store is even open. Plus, stuck in the house, I need my coffee. I'll guess I'll just live with the mess (it's just water) for a while before picking up another one -- but this time not a Black and Decker. When you're 0 fer 2, time to move on to another manufacturer. If it didn't leak? (Two of them...) It would be fine, does the job.

The issue I have is this coffee maker automatically shuts down after thirty minutes, not the two-hours expected. When I called the company, after half an hour of questioning and info, I was assured a new coffee maker would be issued and I should receive it in 7-10 days. That was a month ago. I'm still waiting. Since I was advised not to use the device as I would be required to ship it back to the company; I have been without for all this time. I had not bought any Black and Decker items before. I will not do so again. If I had wanted a 1-cup maker, i would have purchased one. To wait a month for replacement of a defective product is ludicrous. This was before COVID, even.

This coffee maker works well. It brews relatively fast and produced a good hot pot of coffee. It does not leak or drip when removing the craft to get a cup in the middle of brewing. The craft does not pour well when filled to 12 cups. If you try to poor too fast, then the water will eun out the sides and not the spout. Once it gets down to about 10 cups it does not do the same thing. It's odd, but not a deal breaker.

It looks really nice, and having the auto brew is awesome, but the basket area is a bit big and so the basket doesn't have a snug fit and moves around when in place making me worry that the coffee flow valve on the basket isn't open all the way causing the basket to overflow. It hasn't happened yet and perhaps it won't. Only time will tell. Not a bad coffee pot for $25. The digital display does look good and easy to see. **UPDATE** 11/7/20. I purchased this coffee maker at the end February 2020 and now it's been 8 months and the coffee maker is still running like a champ. I did express my concern about the basket part & was worried that the valve may not open enough causing an overflow. I'm happy to report that an overflow has not happened and the coffee maker still works as well as the day I purchased it. It's easy to use and easy to clean. This really is an all around good little coffee maker and pretty decent for the price. I changed my review from 2 stars to 4 because I'd definitely have to say that I'm happy with the coffee maker and 2 stars was a little harsh considering there's really nothing wrong with it other than the fact that the basket doesn't fit snug but it definitely hasn't been a problem. The auto on/off works like it's supposed to and it doesn't take long to brew an 8 cup pot of coffee. I would recommend this coffee maker.

Having great reviews I thought I’d love this coffee maker. Yes..it makes good coffee. It looks great. I ordered it mainly because my old coffee maker started sputtering and was driving me nuts! Unfortunately...this machine made the same noises from the first pot! I’m disappointed and will search for a new machine. If you don’t mind the noise...it’s great. But I’m opting for a quieter model.

I do like this Black and Decker coffee maker. It is easy to use, it makes a very fast and tasty pot of coffee, and fits well on my counter top. However, the lid on the coffee pot itself was impossible to remove for washing or cleaning. And as a consequence, the carafe itself cracked and broke in my dishwasher and had to be replaced. Fortunately, the replacement has a completely different design for the carafe that allows for quick (if not easy) removal of the lid for cleaning. This new pot is not terribly expensive but is hard to find on-line and I had to have somebody on Amazon find out how to order it since I could not locate where to get a new carafe from either Black and Decker's or Amazon's web sites. So, be warned.

I boughten 2 of those coffee machines in a row. And they have an awful flavor that comes out of them. The first 1 I thought it was my water filter. But then when I bought a new water filter for my Fossett the taste was still there. So I know it’s not my filter. I figured out it’s the machine. Both of them taste terrible. The second one I rinsed it with water and vinegar before use, thinking maybe there’s a coding or something in the machine to protect it But that didn’t work either. I won’t buy another one.

I was using this to replace a coffee machine that kept overflowing out of the grounds basket and causing me to have to re-strain my coffee. Well this thing essentially does all the things the machine I threw away does. So if you ever want to make more than 4-6 cups prepare to be drinking grounds. A lot of hassle to deal with...

I've owned a variation of these kind of coffee maker from both Black & Decker and various other companies going on 20 years. This is a very traditional, plasticky coffee maker that does exactly what you think it does. WITH ONE FATAL FLAW. The water drips into the coffee grinds FASTER than the coffee drips out from the bottom and into the pot. This is not user error, or a misaligned coffee pot, or a misaligned basket. It's just a simple and unfortunate design flaw. So EVERY TIME you make coffee with this machine, the basket with the coffee grinds and filters overflows. Coffee grinds end up behind the filter, and sadly, coffee grinds get into the coffee pot. Everything else about this coffee machine works great, especially for the price. Programmable, easy to use, stays hot, you name it! But because of this, I cannot recommend.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  U can't even pour a cup of coffee without the thing dripping everywhere while you have the carafe out the maker. This is really annoying. It's going to make the hot plate rust. I don't think this is normal especially since this machine is supposed to have a sneak a cup feature. I think it has something to do the the basket inside because it doesn't fit tight it flops all over the place.

We bought this for a huge hot chocolate party which we needed up cancelling due to illness. Well, fast forward to today. I finally pull this out of the box and begin to clean it with the water rinse as directed. There’s a giant hole in the reservoir filter!!!! It’s on the underside so it took me a minute to find the damn thing while water was going everywhere! See the photo. I’m so pissed! Because of that illness and delay, I’m way past the 30 day return window. I’m just watching my money drain out this giant hole.

Functionally, this coffee maker is OK, does what it is supposed to do. The fatal flaw is that the carafe can theoretically be washed in a dishwasher, but only on the top rack, where it is much too large to fit. This major problem is not mentioned in the Amazon product description, only in the manual that is available only after purchase--shame on Black & Decker!!!

Wonderful coffee maker. The only downside to most modern coffee makers is the automatic shut off, but most people like that feature since its safer. Regardless of my preferences, this model is pretty fantastic. Very easy to use and figure out the programing, its also quite fast and fairly quiet unlike a lot of makers I've had. If yiu want an inexpensive coffee maker that works well a d has basic features, look no further. I am leaving this review because I went in my history so I can order another one as a house warming gift.

Really simple coffee machine. Bought the reusable coffee filter basket instead of the paper one so as to avoid waste. Has auto prepare function but once the water in the reservoir is over the machine still tries to pull water from it. Does NOT turn off by itself. Haven't seen what happens if I let it continue running without the water in it but I would have preferred an auto shut off function as well. But I guess for this low price that's more than I can expect.

I waited a few months to be able to give a real review. Most functions work about like you would expect given the price. It is programmable, although I keep forgetting to set it up the night before. :) The really down side is that I have yet to buy a Black and Decker coffee maker that has a decent "sneak a cup" working feature. It ALWAYS drips, and it is annoying. Just now, I made some tea instead of coffee, and not only did not not work, but it actually never slowed down. Way to burn out a coffee maker, for sure.

The glass od the container broke in two weeks of use. I simply left it on the sink with room temperature water (washing it) and when I returned it was broken. This is highly surprising for a container that should be able to handle boiling water. The company has no email or chat service to receive this kind of complaint, they only work with phone calls. Terrible.

Step 2 of instructions for setting auto brew time did not work. After pushing "Prog" button, supposed to set auto brew time by pushing hour and minute button but they did not respond at all. Returned unit for replacement with Amazon-supplied UPS label. The same day Amazon promptly sent a replacement; it had the same problem. I phoned the supplier Spectrum Home Appliances c/o Brand Protect Plus to have a representative talk me through the auto brew setting instructions to make sure it wasn't my misunderstanding. To get a replacement I had to cut the power plug and 2 inches of cord and mail it to Spectrum. It's hard to believe the quality control on this product is so bad. I asked them to test the replacement before sending it to me. We'll see.

Upon opening the box, the hinge on the right side of the lid was broken. I thought, "Well, ok". We plugged it up and ran water through it about 3 times. It actually took several more run-throughs. After several uses, the left hinge on the lid broke. Now my husband has to put a heavy object on the lid -top to make the water run through. Still using it but a whole different coffee-making experience.

This coffee maker makes coffee as it should & in good time. I don’t use any of the features, just the on & off switch. We make a full pot of coffee every morning. Not surprising there is condensation on the top cover when you open it to put in a filter & coffee the next morning. The way the cover is made, the condensation runs down the cover & drips on the countertop or runs down the outside of the maker. So every morning I’m having to wipe up after it. Unhappy with the design of this coffee maker & I wouldn’t buy it again.

I am writing a review for the Spark review program about the Black and Decker programmable Vortex Coffeemaker. I truly enjoyed the overall size of this product. It was the perfect size for my small counter top. It provided the perfect amount of coffee each time, whether an entire pot or single serve. The Vortex technology seemed to provide a better taste of what ever flavor coffee that I brewed. The time it took to brew the coffee was time saving and helped me to get my day started immediately. The sleek black design of this product was nice and went well with my stainless steel appliances. I will definitely buy this product myself, it will make the perfect gift for home warming or wedding. This is better than the single serve Kuerigs. It was a lot easier to clean and setup for fresh hot coffee. The filters were very easy to find and really affordable than the single serve items available today. Overall this was a perfect item to test for me.

This is your standard office style drip coffee pot, it makes 12 cups. What it tastes like depends on what you use in it, obviously filtered water and fresh ground beans make for better coffee in general. Takes the standard bucket style filter and has a 24 hour program function. Black and Decker is known for making bulletproof quality stuff and this is no exception.

I’ve purchased my third of this same coffee maker in about 10 years, so mine have lasted about five years (maybe a little less). But, for the price it’s an excellent deal. And bonus, you end up with an extra carafe if you buy a replacement coffee maker after the first one dies. (We tied a string to one of the carafe handles to designate one for decaf and the string loop rides through the dishwasher just fine.) The best feature of this simple appliance is the auto start function. I set up the next day’s coffee when I do the dishes and press the auto button. Then, presto, there’s hot coffee waiting when I wake up. I set it to start about 30 minutes ahead of my alarm, so I hear the gurgling in the next room and am often able to get up before my alarm sounds so I don’t disturb the rest of the house. This being my third of these, I’m pleased to note that they have improved the look and feel of the buttons over the years. This latest one is the best yet. The feel and feedback of pressing the buttons is better than I’d expect in such an inexpensive coffee maker. I look forward to my next one too!

I have been in the market for a coffe maker for a while but just couldn’t decide on one. Finally after a few years of procrastinating and going to wawa every morning for coffee I decided to spend 20$ and get this coffee maker. I’ve never had a coffee maker before so I have nothing to compare it to, but this maker does the job fine. It makes coffee fast, it’s programmable and it’s easy to use. It took me a few tries to figure out the water to coffee ratio but I enjoy the coffee it makes. The coffee is hot and the maker keeps the brewed coffee hot in the pot after it’s brewed as long as you keep it on. I grind my beans fresh and I’ve really been enjoying it. I only gave 4 stars because like I said I have nothing to compare it to and I’m sure if you spent more money you may find a nicer one, but this maker does the job and I have no complaints

The B+D 12 cup coffee maker works alright, but does have leakage/overflow issues. If the filter basket is not exactly in the right position you will end up with grounds in the pot and coffee on the counter. And the leaking coffee will flood the display / control panel - that's a problem waiting to happen. Mine lasted for a bit over a year, then lost the functionality of the control board - it now is always on when it is plugged in, I can't turn it off with the panel button and part of the LED clock display is dark. Quite disappointing. As a result of this failure I just ordered a different brand and model that has the timer and controls above the carafe, in a location that will not be flooded.

We make a full pot of coffee every morning, and use a decent amount of grounds trying to get a rich flavor, but this machine shoots water through so fast it splashes the grounds up out of the basket and they make their way into the pot. Weak flavor even with very dark roasted beans, unpleasant grounds in the last cups of the pot. Very nice looking, very simple to operate, but apparently I need a more expensive machine to give me the flavor I want.

This coffee maker was very light-weight and cheap-feeling, but I trusted Black and Decker and figured how complicated should a simple coffee maker be? I just wanted it to make coffee. So I purchased this popular inexpensive one. I had it one month with minimal use and was even out of town for a week. It quit working this morning .... the Monday before Thanksgiving! Yikes! I have one day now to find a box and ship it back to Amazon for a refund. Hmmmm. Guess I'll be making coffee the old-fashioned way this week for all my guests. So frustrating!!

Liked the functions and look of coffee maker. The price was great. One thing that I didn’t like was that the pump became blocked and it took forever to brew and was so loud. I fixed it by putting water in it and sluicing it around and quickly turning it up side down to drain. I had to do it a couple of times to dislodge whatever was in there but was successful!! It could have been something in pot or my water???, so just glad it’s working great now and only thing I hear now is coffee dripping into carafe. Keeps coffee hot and brews a great cup of coffee at about a cup a minute.

Got this coffee maker and it worked as advertised. I even thoroughly cleaned it with vinegar every month. One day, it just stopped working. The water would no longer empty from the reservoir into the coffee pot. I examined the device to make sure there were no clogs and figured I would take it apart but to my surprise, it has proprietary screws to prevent you from doing so. I contacted customer service, which was a horrible experience, and they were going to replace it but wanted to charge me $7.50 for shipping and handling. For something that doesn't even last a year, they should at least cover all the costs. I rather take that $7.50 and put it towards a more reliable coffee maker.

Loved this coffee pot only reason we're not still using it is we lost the filter cup in a move across country and with it being so cheap it just makes more sense to buy a new one altogether. The cup is large for several cups but you can still brew just the one if you'd like. It has a timer to self start coffee in the morning. The coffee has never had a wierd taste or funny smell. I would (and will) be buying this again!

Update: Nevermind. It stopped working in the past 24 hours and I've never been so sleepy and needed coffee so bad. Darn. Guys, I love this thing so much. Are you sick of fancy coffee pots and you just want some damn coffee already? This is it. This is your coffee machine. The flip top and brew basket seem a little flimsy, but if you're drinking coffee you're probably an adult who knows how to be a little careful with small appliances. It's got a timer, so you can get everything ready the night before and wake up to fresh brewed coffee instead of fumbling around groggily trying to wake yourself up. And if you're forgetful like me, you'll love the auto-shut off feature. It's got a sneak-a-cup feature which I adore because I never want to wait for a whole pot to brew. It's a coffee maker. Does everything I want it to do and works exactly as I want it to. Love it.

This is the third one of these that I have bought in the last 11 years. I absolutely love them. The only reason I have bought three, is that I just like to replace them every so often due to the fact that we have extremely hard water, and over time all coffee makers get stained and dirty. It is extremely cheap compared to any other coffee maker I have seen and they hold up great.

Thought we could use this for the communal office coffee pot but it was a no go. Item arrived in manufacturer’s packaging with the lid broken at the hinge on the lid. The “hinge” was so flimsy it didn’t look like it would have lasted anyway. Figured not a big deal and opted to try keeping it. The water diffuser is connected to the top of the lid and it is of the worst construction I have ever seen. Not to mention every brew attempt tasted like plastic chemicals. Also, while the pot comes with a 2-hour warming period before it shuts off, this is pointless when the coffee is burned to sludge within an hour, even if it is sitting with half a pot. Considering how many $20 coffee pots are on the market, this one was returned.

It suits its purpose. It is simple to use and makes coffee just fine. There are not many settings it is a pretty basic pour water, add coffee in a filter and wait kind of deal. The plastic holder for the filter doesnt fit perfectly where it should but overall it doesnt affect the function of the machine. Good for someone looking for a cheap coffee maker that gets the job done.

Super simple coffee maker that churns out 12 cups of liquid love. Black and Decker is not the first name that springs to mind when I think of coffee makers. I have owned many different machines over the last thirty years and I have stayed away from cheap brewers and lower priced brands. I’m not going to say it’s going to be as good as a $500 plus machine, but for the money I’m pretty happy. I’m impressed with the temperature of my coffee and the taste is significantly better than say a $199 Keurig machine. Buy with confidence- remember to order a gold coffee filter for years of hassle free use.

Needed a basic coffee pot for a short period. This was the best deal in town. Didn't need the autostart or the clock but I'm sure that's all fine and functional. Good basic functioning pot that runs pretty quick for a drip. For the price I can't complain about anything, but if they want to optimize their product, I'd only add the measuring lines on the opposite side of the pot. It's a right-hand pot. Hold it by the handle w/ right hand and you can read the volume measurement. Super. But kitchen faucets are also right handed. (Sorry lefties.) Many of the fancy faucets have one lever on the right. So you hold the pot with your left... and thus you can't tell how much water you have because the lines are on the other side. And filling time about the only time you look for the quantity, so maybe just swing it to the other side if both sides is "cost prohibitive". But certainly not worth a star... I'll be giving it away in a week anyway.

I have owned a couple of other Black and Decker coffemakers in the past, and have always found them to work well and I get pretty long life from them too. This new one works GREAT, very easy to use, and it looks good as well. I really like the black chrome on the front; it looks more expensive than it is. It has a couple of features that I really like: The strength button lets you slow down the brewing process a little for a stronger cup, and the keep warm timer is something that I use every day. Overall I think this may be the best thing out there for the money; anyone who likes a really good cup of coffee will love it!

This Black & Decker coffeemaker is everything you need for your basic of basics. It's programmable, sleek in design, and has a great time clock display. I find it to be easy to use, although it took me a minute to realize that you have to push the middle button to actually get it to start brewing. There isn't a "brew" button, it's just a button with the universal "power" symbol. It confused me at first, but then again it was the morning and I hadn't had my coffee yet! I pushed the "strong" button and walked away from the coffeemaker, and when I came back 5 minutes later (and nothing had been brewing yet), I realized that the big button in the middle just needed a push. It's an otherwise very simple machine to use, and it brewed a really nice pot of coffee for me. I do wish it had the ability to grind coffee, but I guess that means less cleanup too. I would definitely recommend this coffeemaker to anyone looking for a sleek coffeemaker that does all that you need without the complicated technology.

This coffee maker was easy to set up. You can set a time for it to brew. Also set a time for it to stay on from 60 to 130 minutes. You can also set the strength of your brewed coffee. The best feature is the auto lime cleaning mode. It actually stops 1/2 way through the cleaning mode to let the vinegar sit and do the job it needs to do. I like the auto shut off.

This coffee makere fits right into a nice space I have really love that. the black stainless feature is smart looking. love the way it kept my coffee warm for that second cup. it has more of those little holes so there is more hot water and space covered. remember holidays and gift time is coming I think this would be a great gift for a coffee lover

I absolutely adore my new coffee maker. I am able to set it ahead of time to brew so it's ready when I wake up in the morning. There is also an option to make a strong bath of coffee, which I love. There's also a warmer and it makes the coffee super fast and it's easy to clean. I've been drinking a lot more coffee and saving money from not buying as many energy drinks.

I just got this Black and Decker 12 cup programmable VORTEX coffee maker. It's after 4pm, but I just had to set it up and brew a pot. First off, this machine is sleek, with a very small footprint. Secondly, I love being able to control the strength of my brew, as well as the length of time the hot plate keeps it warm. It also has a cleaning cycle...awesome! Delayed brew is also quite nice, as is the sneak a cup feature. Black and Decker has knocked it out of the park with this one! It is, by far, the best basic coffee maker I've had. I hope to use it for years to come. Oh, and I'm drinking my lovely cup of Joe now, and it tastes wonderful.

I was very impressed with this coffee maker! The design is sleek and doesn't take up a lot of room on my counter. I love that it starts brewing immediately and keeps it on warm. I also really like that the program buttons are at the top and not on the bottom where I sometimes spill the carafe or the water. The new system it uses for filtering made the coffee brew quicker too!

I absolutely love this 12-cup programmable coffeemaker because there are so many useful features. I used the auto brew feature and my coffee was brewed by the time I was ready for work. I love the sneak-a-cup feature, so I could even pour some coffee before it was done brewing and it paused. You can also choose between regular or strongly flavored coffee, and the strong tasted exactly like Starbucks. This coffee pot features Vortex technology, which evenly saturates coffee grounds for full and rich flavor. You can also set how long you want to keep coffee warm and it shut off perfectly on time. Other features include Smart-Clean automatic cleaning cycle, which will remind you to clean after 60 brews. The coffee pot is sleek and looks elegant on the counter. I highly recommend this coffeemaker for the best coffee experience!

Very very VERY disappointed and frustrated. Today is only my 3rd day owning this coffee maker and therefore it is my 3rd time using it. Both other times it was fantastic! But for some reason today, the water refuses to come out. The pot has been on for 8 minutes and nothing has dripped into the pot at all and this is the second batch I'm trying. I tried unplugging the maker and emptying the water and refillining. Also checked filter wasn't doubled and basket in the correct position. I'm stumped. Had I been using it awhile I'd be chalking it up to needing a good thorough cleaning but this product is brand new, I shouldn't have to fight this much with it. I'm the kind of person who really counts on that first cup in the morning so it has really impacted my day negatively. I will most likely be returning for a different product since my trust in black & decker has been compromised.

After EIGHT DAYS of ordinary household use, the appliance stopped working, for no apparent reason, it just suddenly failed to turn on. The electrical outlet was and still is 100% functional. I know this is not the first review that states the same fact, but it may be the shortest time of use. I purchased this model after having used a similar Black & Decker coffee maker for close to ten years. I had to replace it only because the carafe got broken and that style of carafe was no longer available. I ordered this one because I thought I could depend on the B&D brand, but sadly that is no longer the case. Please don't fall for this product, it isn't worth even the rock bottom discount price I paid for it.

Love it, works so well. Love those first cups, that you normally have to wait until it's finished the whole pot to get, or wait super long for the one cups to have hot water or whatever... nah, I get a full pot, but can easily just pull the pot out and fill up a cup, and put it back and let it finish brewing, with very little drip drops lost. Great timer feature as well. Super easy to maintain. It's my champ, and it's great.

I don't understand why they put out bad products to the consumer, this coffee pot was horrible right out of the box, the filter folds over during brewing cycle causing grounds to flood all over, it states 12 cups, mine only was able to brew 5 cups because of the short stye basket, it can't hold much grounds without overflowing. I wet the filter before use, that helped stop the folding of the paper filter, I shouldn't have to make the coffee maker better for the manufacturer!

Followed the instructions for startup. Poured water into the reservoir and it quickly poured right out the base of the machine. Either a disconnected fitting or a cracked internal fixture. Make sure you follow the directions exactly and test the water retention BEFORE you plug it in. Could be interesting otherwise. Returned and I will drive down to town and buy a different brand off the shelf.

At first seemed okay for an inexpensive coffee maker. But after a few months occasionally the water would not flow through and grounds would overflow into the coffee. This became an increasing issue but solved by standing there and giggling the pot to open the flow. Then you had to bump the pot up and now open the top and press on the filter basket. Seems many pots have a similar issue. Another brand coffee maker on the way. At least this was a cheap one, been through several since our old faithful Krups of well over 10 years died a couple years ago.

Have two of these. One I have had at my hunting lease for several years, the other I just purchased to replace a Mr. Coffee coffer maker at home that stopped working after only two months of use. ( the third Mr. Coffee coffer maker in less than a year. The heating element burned out on everyone of the Mr. Coffee coffee makers.) Makes good coffee and has all the features needed on a everyday coffee maker.

UPDATE: I emailed the company and they responded within a few days. After proof that the pot is not functioning, they agreed to replace the coffee pot for free. Customer service-5 stars. Hoping the new one lasts! Bought this coffee pot to use for our coffee drinking guests. Ordered it early, so we were already past the return deadline when our guests arrived. It literally worked for two weeks before it now won't even turn on. The only "help" from the manual is "Is the machine plugged in." We have another two weeks of guests, so not very happy it couldn't last a month. Don't buy this coffee pot.

I purchased this coffee pot a couple months ago and it worked flawlessly at first. I had no complaints at all and thought that I'd gotten a great deal on a reasonably priced coffee pot. This morning my coffee pot is deceased. The lights come on and everything looks normal except it will not make coffee. I would advise anyone thinking about purchasing a coffee pot to keep looking and to forget this one because....it sucks caffeinated balls

Great basics , but faulty careless assembly. First one that came in had a broken cover. They quickly replaced it which was awesome, but second machine isn’t great either. Although not broken, I’m super unhappy with the coffee machine. If you don’t very carefully place the coffee filter in making sure it’s leveled , the coffee won’t drip, instead it pulls inside the coffee filter. It’s an easy tweak to not let happen, but it’s pretty annoying to have to make sure the coffee filter is leveled perfectly every time, especially in a rushed morning which is every morning for me. Too later to return the product or else I would :/

Update: This is the worst coffee pot I've ever owned. There is something wrong with the basket now (actually this started a couple of months ago) and it takes HOURS to make half a pot of coffee even though I poured a full pot of water in. I bought this in April and have not been able to use it since July. Because it had been more than 30 days since purchase, I was referred to Black & Decker for warranty service. Or I should say lack of service. They demanded that I cut the cord and send it to them with a check for $7.50 to cover shipping. WTF? This coffee pot crapped out in less than 6 months and I have to pay for shipping. I think not!!!!! I will never purchase another Black & Decker product. Old Review: Overall I like this coffee maker EXCEPT it turns itself off after 2 hours. I drink coffee all day and I expect my coffee maker to keep it warm. There is no way to disable this feature either. I have to remember to turn it back on every two hours during the day. This is highly annoying, especially if I forget. I guess I don't have to worry about leaving it on when I leave the house but I do have to worry about cold coffee. :-( UPDATE!!!!! This coffee maker now takes 1 1/2 hours to make coffee and it only makes half of a pot even though I pour in a full pot of water. The coffee does not drain into the pot well (it barely drips) and the water evaporates from the basket before the coffee is done. I think the basket is broken now. I've only had this a few months and now I have to buy another one or settle for really strong coffee that takes WAY too long to make. It's a major design flaw. Don't waste your money. Oh and vinegar doesn't work and I only use filtered, soft water. It's the basket that's broken anyway. It makes hot water just fine when I run it without the basket. What a waste of time and money.

the plastic dish that holds the coffee filter doesn't sit in the machine properly, causing you to have pay CLOSE ATTENTION to the whole process while you are making coffee, otherwise, the coffee won't flow through the filter into the pot and instead flows over the filter and make a HUGE MESS inside the machine. I think the main issue is the little plastic cup that holds the filter doesn't seem to be heavy enough to activate the spring mechanism that lets the coffee flow from the filter to the coffee pot, this means the coffee has nowhere to go but up and overflow the machine, you can prevent this by paying attention to the coffee the whole time it brews but honestly, why would anyone want to do that when you can buy a machine that just works properly.

Purchased on April 4, 2018 and it quite working October 2018. 6 months is all we got out of it. Amazon told me I had to get hold of the manufacture (so I did) and by the time I got an email response telling me I had reached the Power Drill Dept (I reached out to the Small Appliance Dept) and to use a different number/email I was over it. I bought a new coffee maker. Not a Black & Decker. Funny thing is, about a week before it quit working I asked my husband if was out near a Target or Big Lots any time soon to stop and get a new coffee maker bc I really hated this one. The water reservoir is challenging. It’s opening is pretty small. And if you don’t get the filter basket just so you’re eating coffee grounds. That would happen often even with being careful when placing it..Also, after six months the coffee wasn’t kept very hot anymore. (Luckily we had a spare coffee maker to use but it isn’t programmable)

It makes an ok cup of coffee. The filter holder is on a spring and does not fit snugly in the top portion. It seems to float around, which sometimes makes coffee grounds in the actual coffee. I have tried different grind sizes to see if this helps and it does not. I ended up using it for a few months to see if I could make it work and just ended up buying a new one.

This thing. It spurts, gurgles, gets real steamy, and transports some of the water we dump in the tank to another galaxy. Despite filling the tank all the way, we have not been able to get this thing to brew a whole pot of coffee. I purchased this one for our new home because it had a timer, and I had glorious dreams of awaking to the aroma of a fresh brewed cup of coffee. However, it's real loud, and if you're half asleep and you grab a cup of water to pour in the tank in hopes of making more coffee, then you'll scald your paw trying to lift the lid because a giant cloud of steam will explode as soon as you lift it. If you like coffee pots for aesthetic purposes, this one's clock does function well and it could add a nice touch to anyone's kitchen! Functionality is not great at all.

Finally, a no nonsense easy to use, inexpensive coffee maker for those of us who are fed-up with expensive, short-lived coffee makers. The display is not to bright at night and very easy to read in the day. The programming buttons are straight forward and very simple to use for people who tend to be a little technologically challenged (spouse). There was a power outage today and getting this coffee maker back up to its prior programmed state took less than a minute. The last time I had a power outage (happens frequently in the woods) using my previous expensive coffee maker, the display never came back to a legible brightness level, I had to wait until it was dark to reprogram and it took much longer than it should have. I trashed that expensive coffee maker and replaced it with this one so if any thing ever happens to this machine, I can just buy another. In fact, I could replace this machine 3 times for the same price as one of those other machines without sacrificing quality.

I have used this type (not this brand) of drip coffee maker for many, many years, so I DO know how they work. BUT, this coffee maker is super sensitive. I get paranoid and OCD over 'will it work in the morning'??? I will NOT set it to brew automatically, because of it's undependability. So, I turn it on, when I get up and stand there to make sure it will work properly. This morning, I didn't wait and watch it.. and it didn't work.... that's why I am writing this review. Yes, it's a cheap coffee maker. Yes, you get what you pay for. It's my day off and I am going to buy a different coffee maker today. This one is going in the trash.

The size, price and ease of use of programing buttons are great. But the design is flawed you have to put the basket top down first and then make sure the from underneath that the caraf has exactly lined up for the sneak a cup feature or it will back up. It does not couple it lines up which means if you sneak a cup you have to again look from underneath that it has exactly lined up. Which means anyone using it that does not know this will dump coffee and grounds everywhere. The coffee tastes good, the counter space is minimal, the buttons are commands are straight forward, and the sneak a cup does work although with this caveat, which is more than I can say for anything in this price range.

I've gone through so many electric coffeemakers in my lifetime, but this one is my favorite. I no longer need the fancy bells & whistle. I just want good coffee. This is simple unit and brews a full pot in about 10 minutes. Other coffeemakers were hard to clean and in a short time, they would malfunction with the slightest moisture on the control panel. This BLACK+DECKER is well designed as an easy-to-use, and no nonsense brewing. My wife and I brew at least one full 12 cups every morning.

I actually ordered the Black & Decker brand by mistake. I was shooting for a Mr Coffee and just did not pay attention. However, this really makes good coffee and the permanent filter I bought with it fits perfectly. I normally used an electric perk but mine finally gave up and died. I thought I would try this first because it was so inexpensive. I am glad I made the mistake!! Besides great coffee it is so much easier to clean each day than my perk was.

Update. It's been 9 months and I will be throwing this away. The filter basket does not allow water to flow out fast enough. Causing the filter to either over flow or fold over and the grounds go into the coffee. It did it with only 3 cups of water this morning. I never could fill past 6 cups anyways. It seems no matter what I do I get grounds into the pot. The filter always overflows when making full pots. That's the only complaint but it's a big issue.

No Good This pot was delivered on 5/12/17 and just stopped working altogether on 7/22/17. Wow! Not even 3 months! I know it was cheap, but one would expect at least a year of making coffee once a day. No more Black and Decker products for me. They really don't make things the way they used to rings more and more true. I will have to go out, hottest day of year thus far, to purchase another coffee maker. Yuk! Don't waste your money on this one.

My last coffee maker was the cheapest one I saw at the store. It lasted almost 5 years and was only replaced because it was white and had coffee stains that made it look dirty. It still worked. I replaced it with this. It stopped working in 2 months, only being used a couple of times a week. I've never had a coffee maker with such a short life, and definitely will be going with a different brand this time around.

Description in amazon says it can be programmed and it can. But the actual unit manual that it comes with says to unplug it when not in use for safety. And unplugging it reset the clock and means I can't set it up to brew for the next day. Unit is made of primarily plastic & rubber, with the the pot being made of metal and glass.

This 12 cup coffee maker has all the bells and whistles of a more expensive coffee maker but at a basic bare bones coffee maker price. I have a 12 cup size Mr Coffee coffee maker that looks a lot like this one, but doesn't have any of the extras and it costs the same. My Mr Coffee coffee maker has no clock, therefor also has no built in timers. Also there's no auto shut off or anything like that with my old coffee maker. This one has settings for timers, a clock and and auto off feature that will turn off the coffee maker after 2 hours. You don't realize how great and how much you rely on the auto-off feature until you don't have it on a coffee maker. On the side of the water reservoir there is a small see through section where you can view how much water is inside for brewing. The carafe is easy enough to get in and out of its base but isn't so loose that it easily slips out of the coffee maker. The carafe pours well and in general it's just an all around great coffee maker. Works very well, has all the handy features you would want and is at a very budge friendly price.
