I received this new microwave with the new house, however the panel still had a yellow tape on it, that stated pls remove all plastic before operating. Trying to take the tape off took forever as it disintegrated, tore off, and left glue on the surface of the panel. By the time I took the glue off with a wet paper towel, the panel is marked permanently.
Recommendation - use a different type of tape that just peels off or put it on the screen or on the stainless steel - not on the sensitive panel. After one hour of ownership, the panel is ruined [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We bought this microwave to replace an older model that no longer worked. We found out that all microwave ovens are built be two different manufacturers, and are built as throw away appliances. There are no replacement parts available. Fortunately the trim kit for the new one was the same as the older model KitchenAid we had, so it worked and made the new one very easy to install. Display segments have failed after a year and a half with minimal use. Apparently, there are lots of problems with this microwave. Look elsewhere.

I originally bought a whirlpool microwave and had to return it bc the opening mechanism was faulty. I had to press it several times to open the door. Plus it looked so cheap, so we decided to upgrade to the Kitchenaid. The built in looks better as well. I'm still not 100% happy with the opening mechanism. I wish it had a handle instead bc this one is similar to the whirlpool where I have to push the tab in to open and feel that it's not sensitive enough to open the door easily. At least this one doesn't get stuck or jammed like the whirlpool. Also the panel looks sort of plasticy, cheap, and not fingerprint resistant. Overall it is a decent microwave but needs a few adjustments. It looks modern and sleek. Very roomy inside the microwave and heats well. The built in looks a tab bit bulky in my opinion but overall we are happy with our purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

One of the diodes on the display panel of my KitchenAid Microwave failed after only 15 months of use. The microwave it replaced was 24 years old one and worked perfectly, but was dated so it was replaced as part of a complete kitchen remodel. This is the first diode that I have ever seen fail as far as I can recall.
Makes me concerned about the durability and reliability of the microwave and all the other KitchenAid appliances purchase for the remodel.
Very disappointing and hard to miss since the missing diode should be on for 9 out of 10 numbers on the clock/timer.

I recently updated all our appliances and had experienced two GE Profile microwave lemons. I switched to this KitchenAid and am very happy we did so far. The quality is much better and it works great. The trim kit does not match the microwave though, however it does match the print guard stainless of our new KitchenAid fridge so it works for us. We purchased this model as a replacement being that it would fit into the space using our existing trim kit. Microwave arrived ahead of promised delivery date, was well packed to no shipping damage.
