Used for only six months in adult only home and will no longer stay down when lever engaged. Purchased along with three large black steel kitchen aide large appliances for new home. Warranty period on toaster is only three months after purchase. Very short period indicates poor quality of product.

This toaster was well thought out. The slots are plenty wide and deep. I really like that it gives a little "ding" when it comes up. The Bagel function is nice and came in handy when I made Tuna melt sandwiches. I lightly toasted the slices on both sides then ran it one more time on the bagel setting to toast the inside of the bread where I put my tuna salad, then put them on the grill and finished them up. super good looking, easy to clean and one heck of a toaster. I am recommending this toaster because of the great customer service I received when i called with my problem. The toaster is beautiful to see on the counter. Very nice design. What happened with mine was that the toast would not be done unless put on the very last setting of "Dark". I just wanted medium, but that was too light. I used a variety of bread types as well. Also, the toast came out toasted on one side but only a little on the other side as though it was on the "bagel" function. I called to see what i could do and they very efficiently told me that they would send me a new toaster. Can't wait to see how it works I am hopeful and appreciate the customer service. Toast does not toast evenly. Bottom does not toast and top burns on toasting level three. Level for the toast is black. My whole house smells like burnt toast. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

For the cost, this toaster is horrible. It has very inconsistent browning. One side will be untoasted, slightly warm and the other side is browner, and it doesn't matter if you do one slice or two. After several years of putting up with cheap, shoddy bargain-basement toasters, I decided it was time to treat ourselves to a nice looking unit from Kitchenaid. Unfortunately, i found that beauty (in this case) was skin deep. Even on the highest setting "Dark", the bread (previously stored at room temperature) comes out barely warm and certainly not dark. On the upside, there is a loud bleep that heralds the delivery of the warmed bread. Doh. Back to the drawing board..... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I absolutely love this toaster. Heavy duty, attractive, and two fantastic features - defrost and warm. You can push your toast down, answer the phone or the door and when you come back it's still hot but not overdone. Fantastic. Even toasting and handles thick bread easily. i always kept my old toaster in the pantry but this one has a home right on the counter, super attractive. Love it. After an unfortunate event with my previous toaster having been beaten to death when it refused to let go of my toast, I was prepared to spend a little more to get a better quality toaster. This toaster was pricey and fancier than any toaster I've ever had but I have to admit I really love it! I usually place my toasters with the long side parallel to the wall which means the controls are on the end and you have to bend around to see why the toast is on the torch setting. Having the controls facing you on the long side is really nice. It has 7 settings from reheat to dark, a bagel setting, defrost setting AND a keep warm setting which is great for the times you are cooking eggs and put the toast on but they both don't get done at the same time. This feature will keep your cooked toast or bagel warm for up to 3 minutes without cooking it more. Nice! It also has a cord wrap feature to secure the excess cord on the bottom of the toaster under the feet which keeps it up off the counter top. Another unexpected but cool feature is the toast ready tone. When I first heard the tone, I looked around to see what made the noise and then remembered reading about it. I never would have thought I needed a toast ready tone, however, the older I get I can't say how many times I have popped a bagel in the toaster, wandered off to get coffee and discovered at the end of the day that I never ate the bagel and it's still in the toaster. If you've quietly wondered if you're the only one who's done this relax, there can't be just two of us because the toaster has a tone to alert you (and the throngs of others doing the same thing)! I like the way the toaster looks, it comes in several colors and it's all metal so it feels like you are definitely getting the quality you are paying for. I recommend it.
