Presto 03510 Flipside Belgian Waffle Maker Review

Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Presto 03510 Flipside Belgian Waffle Maker. LINK to Presto Flipside Belgian Waffle Maker: http://amzn.to/1ScRhqD It weighs 5 lbs, measures 12 inches long by 11 inches wide and 4.5 inches high. This unit makes a thick 7 inch waffle It comes with an instruction manual with a few recipes. The exterior is brushed stainless steel. The interior is non-stick. The handle is cool to the touch so you can flip the waffle easily. There is a digital display on the side, there’s a timer that counts down when baking. The timer doesn’t turn the unit on or off. Hold the button down until you see a double zero. Press the button for each minute. You can set the timer for 1 to 30 minutes. When there is one minute left on the timer, there’ll be two beeps. When time is up, there will be five beeps. I’ll put the link to the waffle maker in the description below if you want to try it out. Let’s go ahead and test the waffle maker. Before the first use, wipe the inside with a damp cloth and let dry. Keep the unit closed and plug in the machine. The signal light glows while the waffle maker is preheating. The light goes out when the unit is ready to use. It took minutes to preheat. Open the waffle maker holding the handle. The first time you use it, wipe a light coating of oil to the grids. You won’t need to do this every time unless it becomes hard to remove the waffle. Pour in ¾ to 1 cup of your waffle batter in the middle. If you’re using a thick batter, spread it out with a heat resistant spatula. Set the timer to 4 minutes. Close the waffle maker, hold both handles and flip the unit over 180 degrees. While cooking, the light will go on and off and that’s normal. There are the five beeps, the set time has expired. Let’s open the waffle maker. Use a fork to remove the waffle. The cooking time for different batters will vary. Generally when you no longer see steam coming from the unit, the waffle is done. You can separate the waffle easily. Now you can make another waffle. While you’re making waffles, keep them warm in a 200 degree oven. You can make a lot of waffles and freeze them if you’d like. Pull them out for breakfast and toast them. They taste so much better than the cardboard frozen waffles at the store. The second waffle cooked in 3 minutes. When you’re finished, unplug the unit. Let it cool and wipe the grids with a soft cloth. The outside can be wiped off with a damp cloth. To save space, the unit can be stored vertically like this. Hold the handles together and flip up one of the red locking levers to lock the unit. To unlock before use, drop the locking lever back. This one waffle with some fruit is a filling breakfast. With this recipe you’ll get 5 waffles in 15 minutes. I like the 1 minute warning beep because if I’m away from the kitchen, I know I have to run back and get my waffle. The Presto Waffle maker made waffles that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was evenly browned. The unit is easy to use and stores neatly. The link to the Presto is in the description above. I hope you found this review useful. Subscribe for more reviews and thanks for watching!

It works just as promised. I could not believe how easily the waffles came out of the machine.

This is a great item, and the only one I found that had a ceramic finish, rather than the toxic non-stick finishes of other waffle makers. It browns the waffles nicely and makes them crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Only used a couple of times so far. But waffles look very good, evenly cooked and browned. I like the vertical storage. It's easy to use and clean. I am very happy with this waffle iron at this time.

Let me preface my review by stating I have been making waffles since I was a young boy more than 60 years ago. During that time, I have used several different waffle makers of different design and materials. including my longtime favorite (a heavy heirloom Toastmaster from the 1960's which finally succumbed to electrical failure about 10 years ago). During my post-Toastmaster era I purchased several waffle makers but none had matched my Toastmaster for consistent heat control, cooking uniformity and quality of materials - that is, until I purchased this Presto #3510. The very first time I used the Presto it produced a golden-brown waffle (see picture above on left) which, although visually pleasing, required some tweaks to the recipe (slightly more vegetable oil and milk to the batter) to achieve a crisper exterior while retaining the chewy interior texture that I prefer (see picture above on the right). In addition to making consistently perfect waffles, the diameter of the waffle fits perfectly on a mid-size plate while the deep grid pattern retains the ideal complementary proportions of butter and syrup for a fully satisfying serving. Perhaps one of the most practical features of this Presto is the durability of the ceramic grids and the ease of clean-up with a damp cloth once it cools. And best of all - no more messy over-flows as the well-designed reservoir around the outer edge captures any excess batter from an over-zealous pour! Although I purchased my Presto just a few months ago, its reliable performance has already given me tremendous pleasure and promises to continue to deliver quality for many more years than I experienced with my cherished Toastmaster.

** Very Important: Do not use ANY oil on this waffle iron. Do not add oil of ANY type to batter. This will maintain non-stick qualities.**

I have used a lot of brands of waffle irons in my life - I am 52. This simplistic waffle iron produces evenly cooked waffles that readily release from the iron, stores in a minimum of space, and is light-weight.

I have a waffle recipe that I have improved upon over the years and provide it here for the well-being of all Amazon customers. Enjoy!

DAVE'S MALTED WAFFLES

3 Eggs

2 tbsp Vanilla Extract

2 cups Milk

1/4 tsp Salt

1 tbsp Sugar

2 tbsp NonDiastatic Malt Powder (King Arthur brand via Amazon)

1/2 cup Corn FLOUR (Bob’s Red Mill brand via Amazon)

3 cups Buttermilk (recommend Organic Valley brand)

4 cups All-Purpose White Flour

1 tsp Baking Soda

3 tsp Baking Powder

In medium bowl, add Eggs, Extract, Milk, Salt, Sugar, Malt Powder, and Corn FLOUR. Mix these very well.

Next add Buttermilk and White Flour. Mix well.

If necessary, add flour or milk to achieve a light to medium-thick batter. A too thin batter WILL cause sticking.

Finally, add the Baking Soda and Baking Powder. Mix well for about 15 seconds.

Now pour on that preheated waffle iron and set for 3minutes cooking time. Makes about 8-10 waffles.

For PANCAKES, use an additional 1/2 cup of milk.

Please share this recipe. If you like, I have a few more recipes you might like. Let me know! DC.

I've always wanted a belgian waffle maker but thought it would be one of those gadgets that I buy and never use. (I'm talkin' to you, instapot!)

We made waffles for the first time last night for dinner. BEST WAFFLES I'VE EVER HAD!!! Its SO easy to use. I didn't oil it before the first use, I just kind of wiped it out with a paper towel and went to town with it. I highly recommend watching The Art Professor's video review. It's all you'll need to know how to use this thing. I also highly recommend buying the Carbons Golden malted waffle mix, which is super easy to use and tastes delicious!

You should know, a full cup of batter makes the perfect waffle. I can't wait to make savory waffles with this thing! I'll keep you posted about how those work. "Till next time...

This is such an awesome waffle maker!! You get nothing less than crisp on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside waffles with this waffle maker! I was nervous because I've never owned a waffle maker before but my very first waffle on this turned out perfect! I used the Krusteaz Belgian Waffle mix and they were delicious! It's so nice that this waffle maker has a timer too because I'm one of those people who tends to walk away from something that is cooking and forget. I just can't get over what a great waffle maker this is for the price! Thanks Presto!

I kept thinking back to those hotel Belgain waffles and wasn't excited about this purchase, but my fiance wanted one, so I figured I'd get a highly rated model. But if you have some good batter, and not the cheap stuff a hotel uses, this makes a really great waffle. Make sure to pick up some whipped cream and make some blueberry compote!

Oh, one thing that I did dislike was the Timer does not have a second button like shown in the picture. It is also not 'built-in' to the device. It is a removable timer that requires us to replace Batteries over time?? I don't remember reading about that anywhere, so I have to go with 4-stars.

Lets just start off with me saying I LOVE THIS THING! So far I have had it approximately a week, but I have used it a lot in that small amount of time and have yet to be disappointed. I really wanted a flip waffle maker but in my online research I came to see that a lot of the times people get the ones with the handles that flip, and the issue almost always that they have is that the handle seems to break easily, that is why I chose this Presto FlipSide waffle maker instead. Having the flipping apparatus double at the hinged area really seems to give it a good sturdy foundation. It has a red locking mechanism that allows the waffle iron to stand up straight for easy storage.Plus it is sooo easy to use! There aren't a bunch of buttons on this. You simply plug it in and wait for the red light to come on and then go off and it is heated and ready for use. (Usually takes around 5 minutes). You put the batter in one side of the waffle maker and hold the handle tightly, flip it to the other side, set the timer and let it cook. There is a button you push for a timer that you can set for up to 30 minutes (though I have no idea what you would cook for that long!), and it beeps twice letting you know that your time is almost up, then once more when your time is over. Taking it out is always easy as the non stick surface makes things easily come out of the grill area. The only real thing I wish it had that it doesn't, is a way for the handle to stay shut. Its not really necessary, however when flipping from one side to the next you really need to make sure that you hold the handle shut since it doesn't close itself, otherwise you could have quite a mess on your hands. But really, that is nothing it NEEDS, but just something I would like... This thing is sooo easy even a child could use it (with adult supervision of course). Perfect waffles every time! PLUS, there are so many other things you can make in a waffle iron that I was not even aware of before doing some new research... I even made PIZZA! Yep, PIZZA... in my waffle iron! YUM! Check it out in action!: https://youtu.be/_9rIt54qSdo

Pros

Very good at baking waffles from a mix

Thorough manual includes 5 recipes

Timer counts down during cooking

Lights indicate when iron is preheated

Lights and sounds indicate when waffles are done

Stands up for storage

Cons

Battery required for timer

You need to turn the baker over halfway through cooking

Top and sides become too hot to touch during baking

Takes up a lot of room on the counter

While it's larger than a traditional wafflemaker, the Presto FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker is smaller than other flip machines we tested. You can depend on this brushed stainless steel model for a well-browned, tender, and crispy round Belgian, especially if you use a mix. Plus, it boasts a countdown timer, a nice feature that you don't usually find on wafflers in this price range.

overall this is a decent waffle maker for the money. i was a little disappointed with the plastic handle and casing, it just seems cheap compared to the iron itself. the mechanism that holds the waffle iron in the upright position does not seem like it will last long. i love the upright storage feature though. we have very limited space in our kitchen and being able to store it vertically rather than horizontal was a deciding feature for this purchase. the actual waffles were wonderful! they had a nice crispy outside and were soft and yummy inside, almost like the inside of a doughnut. the timing feature is great. it lets you know when to flip it and when its done. no brainer cooking and no burning! cleaning may be a challenge since it is not immersible. the batter measurement takes practice and it oozes out onto the sides if you dont get it right and then bakes on... we are enjoying it despite the negatives and i think we have said goodbye to pancakes forever!
