Can I change my setting once the food is cooking?

Yes! Even after the Instant Pot has begun cooking, the time, temperature, and pressure can be changed.

What material makes up the inner pot?

The 3-ply bottom has an aluminum core for optimal heat dispersion, but no aluminum comes into contact with your food. The stainless steel inner pot is made primarily of 304 (18/8) stainless steel and is dishwasher safe. The inner pot does not have a chemical coating, making it FDA compliant for food safety. You can be certain that all of your food is cooked safely because the steam rack is also constructed from food grade 304 (18/8) stainless steel.

How can I start the instant pot?

10 seconds after you establish or modify the cooking program, The Duo will start. The display turns on when it starts to let you know the cooker has started pre-heating.

How can I determine when pressure cooking is complete and it is safe to open the lid?

Check to see if the float valve has descended before attempting to open the lid. If the float valve is still up, do not attempt to open the lid. • If the lid is locked and difficult to open, do not attempt to open it. • Never attempt to force the lid open. If you are unsure whether the float valve has fallen, turn the steam release handle to the Venting position first. Use a long utensil to push the float valve down if there is no steam release. Important: When opening the lid, the inner pot may stick to it. Due to cooling, vacuum is to blame for this. Move the stream release handle to the Venting position to let the vacuum out.

Not only is this beautiful, it has worked nicely. I like the timer feature on the slow cooker option. We slow cooked sweet and sour meatballs for 5 hours and when the timer was at an end, it beeped and shut itself off, switching to keep warm! Love that! We have also used the pressure cooker option once, so far, to cook chicken breast to shred. So Far, we are happy with this instapot. In my small kitchen, it is large (this is why I appreciated pioneer woman's floral design) and you do have a lot of steam escape when pressure cooking is complete, so having this in an open area is a must. Releasing the steam under a cabinet would probably ruin the cabinetry after a while.

I am so excited to finally get an instant pot!!!And this one is lovely. This is an older model with MANUAL button. That's really what I wanted. It arrived in tack, packaged well and no dents Haven't used it yet because I'm still just looking at it. lol All I can say is that it is just beautiful! Course if it doesn't work I'll return it but gosh it's just lovely to look at.

Not sure if this was previously used or not and resold to me, but the pot has some tiny scratches inside it. Now, I am super excited to own this as it was on sale so I will just wash it since you're supposed to anyways. The rest of this beautiful appliance is flawless. I will update how it cooks dinner tonight. To be continued:

I read through all the instruction booklets. A close read--there are no specific instructions on how to close the lid properly. By trial and error, I figured it out AFTER it worked with lid on incorrectly. (When on correctly, the steam valve opposite the control panel). I did the 2 minute 'start up' procedure after carefully washing the interior of the pot with soap and water. Upon opening the pot after this test run, I was disgusted to see the inside rim of the pot with an accumulation of fuzzy looking 'gunk' in the water. I wish I took a picture of it. The accompanying picture is the dish towel I wiped it out with--the gunk is the black spots on the towel. Additionally, the bottom of the pot 'pitted' with white spots that I am unable to remove. After making hard boiled eggs with it, there was even more pitting in the pot--shown in pictures-there is a lot of glare but the white spots you see are permanent. Two uses--only one actually using it for it's intended purpose (with NO food actually touching the pot--only water each time) and the interior does not give me comfort that it is not made of defective (possibly leaching?) materials. Why would it pit like it has? No matter how I clean it, it doesn't look clean. Not good. I will say that it did make hard boiled eggs far easier than the usual sauce pan/boil method.....and they peeled incredibly easily. I'm giving it 3 stars for the combined ease of cooking and pitted pot interior.

I have enjoyed my original Instant Pot so much, that when I did my kitchen over in Pioneer Woman decor, I jumped at getting a pretty IP that matched. It works well, but I guess Pioneer Woman just had to be different, the controls look to be the same at first glance but is not. There is a slight learning curve as for the controls, it doesn't have the obvious pressure cooking choices. All cooking has to be picked from the pre-programmed modes. The time can be adjusted and level of cooking (low, medium, high) can be adjusted...if you do it quickly. You have about 10 seconds to set all the controls before it just pops in to default and starts cooking. The vent seal for some stupid reason has three positions, have to be very diligent on setting it. You can turn it off and start the controls over again, so not entirely stuck. Also, of course Walmart only gave me one option of color for the IP, yet there were more choices in the store a week later. Walmart has changed their return policy and I decided to just keep the IP that came as opposed to trying to deal with them over an online purchase.

I bought this from walmart a year ago and wanted to test this completely before I reviewed. This product is wonderful. It works for stews, meatballs, and even desserts. My favorite is making brownies in it. Who could think you can make desserts in an instant pot? The buttons are still good and easy to read. With proper care, this product will last! The design is beautiful. This product is worth the spurge.
