We bought a new house 3 years ago, it came with all whirlpool appliances including this microwave which was installed above the oven using an installation kit. About a year ago the display started going out, but it was readable so we didn't worry about it. Now the start button won't work and of course it's not under warranty. Called customer service to see if there are any parts we can order or some way to service it, they said they don't do that since it's just a countertop microwave. Now I have to choose whether to buy another whirlpool microwave to match the installation kit and other appliances, or buy something more reliable.

We have bought whirlpool appliances for the past 26 years but no more. We bought a new house with whirlpool built in microwave and oven four yaers ago. The first microwave lasted one year. We replaced it and the second microwave laste 2 years. We just bought the third whirlpool microwave because we wanted the micro and the oven to match. I can see one microwave being a lemon but three in four years??? However if this one doesn't last it will be the last whirlpool appliance we'll ever purchase. We are now having problems with the oven which will also have to be replaced. Quality is bad, no longer what it used to be. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

After about 2 years of being without a microwave, I finally caved an bought one for my husband and I as a Christmas gift. Compared to not having a microwave, of course it is a huge time saver. We chose this model because it was discounted at the time, and also because it had more power than less expensive models. I saw another review mention that the key pad started to bubble, we did experience that too but only on the start button so far. It's not a huge concern for me since my main goal was to have a machine that would cook quickly! One perk about this microwave is that I discovered I could fit a 9x13 glass Pyrex dish into it for large reheat jobs. The dish was too big to spin but it was convenient being able to fit in inside. We've had this microwave for almost 2 years and it no longer works. It started with the time being messed up then the start button wouldn't work. My husband took it apart and found the problem, obviously a common problem looking at other reviews. He contacted them and they don't sell replacement parts and was basically told sorry about your luck. A microwave should last about 10 years and this one barely made it 2. For the price this shouldn't even be an issue. Customer service was very lack luster. This has me worried that our other appliances will not hold up like they are suppose to either. We will not purchase Whirlpool again.

Microwave cooks well and was the best value for the price. Door opening mechanism is stiff. Easier with built in, but nay be a challenge for arthritic or others with hand strength issues. Very pleased. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

microwave lasted one year and 6 month. Right away the door button had issues. It would stick and not open ir when closed the microwave won't register it's closed. Most of the number buttons stopped working and now the start button doesn't work. Called whirlpool and even though there are multiple reviews on different platforms of the same issue with this model, they continue to sell it and their response was to “buy a new one.” I recommend to not purchase this model.

We are on our 4th microwave of this particular model. The 1st one did not work out of the box. The replacement we received work several months before the door button began working inconsistently. We received a replacement under the warranty. The local authorized service center told me it would be fixable if Whirlpool provided repair parts. The third microwave we received under the warranty, after several months, no longer heated food. However the unit would get very very hot on the top outside of the unit. So far the 4th replacement it working quite well. Thank goodness for Whirlpool standing behind their warranty. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
