Imagine cooking a wonderful harty meal for your family...Lets call it beef stew. Youve been cooking it for about 3 hours on high. You go into the kitchen to stur your wonderful smelling beef stew to see glass all over. What a sight to see! This was only the 2nd time using this crockpot! Im very upset!

Item not as pictured. Does not have the lid rest/cord wrap. Called Walmart as well as Hamilton Beach to see if the pictures are wrong or if I was sent the wrong one. Hamilton beach confirmed that the pictures are actually of a different model. Just prior, Walmart told me return the other one and they'll ship a new one...which according to Hamilton Beach will be the exact same incorrectly pictured one. If you want the lid rest look for 33182 not this one-33183. Not pleased with Walmart as this was a Christmas gift for my mother that she needed to use on Christmas day.

I bought this 8 quart crock pot so my husband and I could cook whole meals that we could get 2 or 3 meals from. It works great but the cover does not seal and it makes a mess in between the pot and the crock insert. We have to line the lid with foil to use it. If you don't mind doing that then buy one. I would not buy this again.

I already have a slow cooker I recieved as a gift on my bridal shower 19 years ago. I only used it twice to melt caramel. As time went by and my kids got older I decided to get a bigger one! I bought this one from Hamilton beach and I am so excited about it! I made a 5 lb roast with tons of veggies and still have room! I love it! After each family meal I think about what to make next! Super large capacity and easy settings make it so easy to cook a meal and still be on the go! For the size, quality, and price I give this pot a double thumbs up!!!

I loved using this crock pot , it's huge . We are big family and we did a roast potatoes onions and carrots yesterday with no problem . My only complaint is this crock pot has no indicator light . I would like it to light when in use instead of me having to feel it to make sure it is on !

When our 6-quart oval crockpot needed replacing, I knew I wanted something a bit bigger - after loading potatoes, carrots and onions into the crock, there wasn't much room for the roast! I compared crockpots on a number of websites and this crockpot stood out as the best bang for my buck. It is very well packaged with the cover and the crock kept secure so there's almost no chance of breakage. The color is true to the picture; not a charcoal but a true black. I immediately washed the crock and the cover in warm soapy water, rinsed and dried it, and put it to use! What would have barely fit in my old crockpot easily fit into this new one, with room to spare! Ten average-sized peeled potatoes, peeled and chopped carrots, three whole peeled onions, plus a four-pound roast fit easily, with about an inch to spare at the top. The unit heated up quickly, maintained the set temperature during the cooking time, and cooked everything to perfection. The ONLY problem I had was making room in the fridge for the crock with the leftovers!!

Seeing that I have never owned or used a slow cooker before, I might not be the best one to review this but all I can say is it met all my expectations and it works perfectly. And you can't beat the price! The first thing I made in it was pulled pork barbecue and it came out great. I was afraid, from reading some of the reviews, that it would cook too fast even on low but it didn't. Low is low on this one. I have not tried anything on the high temp yet, but so far so good. If anything changes, I'll update my review.

Love the cooker. Walmart shipping to store was TERRIBLE. It took several days in limbo to find and receive it. Once we went to pick it up it looked like someone put their foot through it. The side was all caved in. Fortunately, Walmart had one on the shelf that I was able to buy. I will shop the store first from now on. Their shipping leaves a lot to be desired.

I couldn't find any review on slow cookers that mentioned a family of 7, so I had to decide between 6qt or 8qt. I went with this 8qt knowing my boys are getting older, therefore they will eat more. It's perfect for our size family. I always have to double recipes, so a 4qt was never sufficient for us. Now I can make soups, stews, and chili in it, not just meatballs or a dip. If it is less than half full it does cook hotter than when it's full. That is normal, but you should be aware of that when leaving the house while cooking. It does not heat up my kitchen, everything turns out perfectly, it's easy to clean. Would definitely buy again.

I owned a Wolfgang Puck Slow Cooker, and made the mistake of putting my crock on a hot burner. I looked at quite a few cookers, but this one seemed to be the best value for the money, and I thought the crock might fit my old cooker as well. I cooked pulled pork in this new one yesterday, it turned out great, and as a bonus, it does fit my old one perfectly, even though it's deeper and holds much more, so now I have a back-up. If you have a lot of people to feed, or like to make large batches and freeze some for later, this one can't be beat for capacity and price!
